1 FAMLY STUDES 11 PERSONAL SCRAPBOOK PROJECT The goal of this project is to understand yourself, your values, your perspectives & your relationships better. This is a book about you, written by you and written for you. This scrapbook is to be worked on in class unless otherwise specified. You will choose ten topics to work on and will need to decide whether you will complete it as a digital scrapbook or an actual physical book. At the end of the semester, you will assemble all the pages together creating a keepsake book/file to take with you. Each week, you will work on one topic/page and will receive a social responsibility mark at the end of the block. COMPLETED SCRAPBOOK DUE DATE: *This should include your cover and a minimum of 10 pages (each with written work, title, and a visual) assembled as a book or sent as one single file. Grading: Cover: A letter grade will be awarded based on criteria provided (weighted at 50%) Body of Scrapbook (written/visual): A letter grade will be awarded at the end of each term for each individual page, based on criteria provided (your average letter grade per term will then be weighted at double value) Assembly of Scrapbook: Your final assembly of the scrapbook will be awarded a letter grade based on assembly as a book/file & consistency throughout (weighted at 50%) Detailed nstructions COVER Your front cover will be your Personal D assignment. You are to construct a title page for your scrapbook that will represent facts, feelings, and attitudes about yourselves. Examples: areas of interest such as meaningful quotes, hobbies, favourite foods, films, music or things you feel strongly about. They must be creative, colourful, neat, and constructed with thought. t must be a visual representation of who you are and have at least 10 different components of your life (consider using aspects from your Me n A Bag presentation!) Begin to look for pictures in old magazines, newspapers, advertisements and flyers. Use short descriptive WORDS, QUOTES or PHRASES, small PHOTOS, PCTURES, CONS, and eyecatching COLOURS to display your identity. This will be a blue print of who you are Go crazy. Cover ALL of the blank space on the page. Place pictures and words up, down, left, right, around, here and there. Use different sizes and types of fonts; create words from single letters put together, use colour symbolism, use pictures and words. Have fun! You will be marked on: Content (meaningful and thorough) Allows reader to discover who you are Originality theme Creativity (Visually stimulating) Wise use of space Neatness/ Organization

2 FAMLY STUDES 11 BODY OF SCRAPBOOK n answering the question or topics described on the following page, use pictures, sketches or poems to supplement your own written presentations. You may also use any other workable format to best describe or define yourself and how you relate to each topic. Remember to answer the topics honestly because the books will only be shared with me. This scrapbook should be done to the best of your ability. Content, quality and quantity are all important. You will be marked on: Title (each page must have a title/topic) Content (meaningful and thorough/minimum of 5 sentences per topic) Visual (each page must have a visual/embellishments that add to the topic) Creativity Wise use of space Organization TPS FOR A BETTER ASSGNMENT Each topic must be answered on a separate page. f completing on paper, please record the page number to assist Mrs. Lazar with marking Whether you choose to complete a hand-written/printed scrapbook or a computergenerated presentation, please be prepared with required materials each week. A title, paragraph, and visual component must accompany each topic. Use pen for all writing (no pencil) SPELLNG AND GRAMMAR ARE MPORTANT (proofread your work!) TMELNE: (grades for individual pages will be entered before the term 1 report & again at the end of the semester. n addition, your Cover Page and Assembly mark will also be entered) Although the finished product is not due until the end of the semester, you must be prepared and organized to complete each page on Friday N CLASS. This means that each page should be done BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE ROOM ON FRDAY. For this reason, you need to come to class on Friday, prepared with all supplies to assemble your chosen page. f class time is well-used, you SHOULD be able to complete each page during class time. For that reason, you are required to show your progress to Mrs. Lazar each Friday before you leave. f you are absent, it is your responsibility to make sure you get your page completed and show it to Mrs. Lazar before the start of class on Monday. f you do not show your page, you will receive a zero for your social responsibility for the block. Failure to have the pages completed by the due date will result in you joining Mrs. Lazar s Scrapbook Club for which you will come in at lunch to work until you are caught up. Failure to show up to the lunch sessions will result in a maximum mark of 50% for the incomplete page.
