1 Autobiographical Scrapbook You are to create an autobiography scrapbook for your chosen character. You should present this in your scrapbook. Try to have your document take on a theme matching your person. For example, if it is a scientist, you could include scientific formulae, test tubes, etc. to add authenticity. The cover should be your 50 word life summary, with a photo (portrait), character name and your student name (in small text). (separate page for directions) Include your bio-riddle (not required but can count as 1 artifact) Add researched information about your character s life. Make sure you clearly state why your character is eminent/gifted by relating it back to your scrapbook artifact. Include a minimum of 10 artifacts that would showcase your notable s life in detail. You may want to include some artifacts that match parts of your eminent person that people may not know about. You know, the kinda thing when someone asks you, Tell me something about yourself that no one else knows. Each of these artifacts should have a detailed written explanation (explained below - with example) Put in: photos, awards, quotations, timeline, report cards etc. You can add any other items you wish which will help bring your person to life: poems, wraps, songs, drawings, etc.

2 Special Note: Every word must be your own. Absolutely no cut & paste will be acceptable. All content must be accurate. Do not make anything up. Include a MLA bibliography in the back. 50 Word Character Summary Instructions You are to prepare a mini biography: 50 words that highlight the person. It should include: Notable s Name and Nickname Life Dates Country of Birth, Where he lives now Major Achievements Which special qualities does he show? A favorite quote by your notable Your finished biography should form part of your autobiography cover. You might also use it on the Night of the Notables.

3 Scrapbook Direction Specifics Each page should have a detailed (but short) explanation as to why you included such artifact in your scrapbook. Whether you do this on the same page or the back of the page or in a pocket is up to you. This explanation does NOT count as one of you ten artifacts. Here s a quick brief example - on Malcolm X (Malcolm Little) My artifact would be a garden - either drawn or maybe some 3D example of a garden as specified by the book Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention by Manning Marable I would then write as a description The Littles, being influenced by Marcus Garvey decided to have their own garden to take care of in order to teach their children self-sufficiency and personal responsibility in the midst of the Great Depression. They raised animals as well. Malcolm X, known at the time as Malcolm Little showed early gifted characteristics in relation to the gardening and work ethic. He had a knack for avoiding it. When he was sent out to the garden he would just, start talking, and we would start working. I can remember Malcolm lying under a tree with a straw in his mouth. [He] was telling these stories, but we were so happy to be around him that we worked. He was the leader. Even when white children would play outside the Little s house

4 Malcolm would get all the kids to go and play Robin Hood. Malcolm was Robin Hood and all the white kids went along with it, a Black Robin Hood!. As you can see, the above paragraph shows a connection to the artifact and specify s the person s gifted traits.

5 BIO-RIDDLE Instructions You are to create a bio-riddle for your person. It should: Give clues as to who your character is Reveal more and more of the person s identity without saying exact-ly who it is Rhyme, if possible for greater effect You could memorize your Bio-Riddle for Night of the Notables and have parents try to guess who you are and give them a high five for getting it right.
