1 The dyeing course Students studied about the materials and techniques for making yuzen printed silk panels. In the free production lessons, they tried the batik method, hand painted yuzen, pattern dyeing, textile printing. They used their own original ideas in their artwork. Common themes (Yuzen panel) Yuzen Panel Oasis I N I wanted to create something with impact. This image is a big red orchid cactus which blooms in the desert. The blue-green color in the background represents water of an oasis. Yuzen panel Houttuynia cordata I H I wanted to paint the houttuynia cordata. After painting the background I drew the flowers and drew the petals. Yuzen Panel Sunflower K M I I wanted to paint detailed petals and seeds of sunflowers. The power in the trouble O H I chose chamomile as a motif because I think this flower represents power and trouble. I will be taking university entrance exams soon and have to do my best, so I wanted to feel filled with power from my artwork. I used three colors in the background and blurred them together.

2 Yuzen Panel pineapple K M The shape of a pineapple is complex, so I thought that if I chose it as the motif to draw on a yuzen panel, then the artwork would be interesting. T M Yuzen Panel Chinese peony This is my favorite flower. I chose to draw gold Chinese peonies. I made the shape of this flower kind of round to emphasize it. Yuzen panel Lilies T M In my artwork, I described the contrast of lilies, between the good and beautiful side, and the bad sinister side, which makes them a poor choice for hospital flowers, I did this by drawing dark flowers and light flowers. N M Cluster amaryllis I wanted to paint a cluster of amaryllis when I chose my theme. As a contrast to nature and flowers, I also painted artificial things such as a battleship and gears.

3 Yuzen Panel red pine trees We associate yuzen dyeing with flowers, but I wanted to make artwork that was more interesting so I came up with red pine as a theme. I paid attention to the bark when I designed it. Yuzen Panel the power of life H R I grow a variety of plants at home. I chose one of the plants I like for my theme. The theme not given assigned(the dyeing course) I N AHRMNN the informal cotton kimono by stencil printing Classics and T-shirt AHRMNN I N I wanted to make a yukata with a design using classical flowers in the center of squares. I also like red. I made the t-shirts so I could have a good memory with my friends. AHRMNN comes from the initials of our names.

4 the tapestry four seasons I H I made the tapestry by yuzen dying because I wanted to decorate the wall. I wanted to be able to change them season by season so I made 4 tapestries, expressing spring, summer, autumn, and winter. O H Dream K M Cherry A long-sleeved kimono Dream (left) O H I have wanted to make a kimono since I started senior high school, so I made a long-sleeved kimono to wear for my coming-of-age ceremony. When choosing the design I wanted to use shapes classically used on kimono. Since I would like to be seen as a beautiful woman, I painted Chinese peonies and lilies which I think represent beauty. 5 A cushion cover K M I made cushion covers because I wanted to brighten up my room with them. I used a pineapple as a motif because I thought it was very interesting. I used the art of yuzen dying because I was my favorite of all the techniques I was taught. K M pineapple cushion covers An informal cotton kimono (Yukata) Lotus T M Lotus flowers are rarely used as a motif for yukata designs, and instead are more often seen in mourning clothes. I wanted to make a vivid and colorful yukata using lotus flowers because I thought it would give people a calm feeling. T M Lotus An informal cotton Kimono (Yukata) Warmth T M I love pink and red. I made a yukata with a warm feeling by decorating it with classical patterns of peony blossoms and Chinese peony blossoms.

6 Cavan (left) N M I made a purse with a metal clasp, a tote bag, and a backpack, which are useful in daily life. I hand painted them with a stencil following the yuzen techniques I was taught. I used my own original designs of animals, flowers, guns, icons and so on. N A Japanese towels with Japanese ghosts Japanese towels with Japanese ghosts N A I have liked Japanese ghost stories since I was very young. I wanted to involve these stories in my artwork so I made hanging banners with pictures of Japanese ghosts. I tried to make vivid pictures which explained the nature of the ghosts well.

7 H R circle the cloth cover for round chairs H R The title of my concept is flamboyant in the living room. I tried to make vivid covers using techniques I learned in the dying course. I hoped these covers would remind me of my enjoyable high school life. I dyed the covers based on Kaga s five colors: crimson, indigo, ochre, green and purple.

8 Japanese lacquer art course Our students develop their skills by designing and producing dry lacquerware and makie lacquerware. Students explain what they would like to make to their classmates in their first presentation lesson. Next students make detailed plans for their design in preparation to start producing their work. Finally students start work on producing their lacquerware project. Japanese lacquer box for the dumbbells Power S H I have two 15 Kg dumbbells in my house. I made this strong box to put them in. Makie lacquer vase Dancing together K Y This vase should be displayed with water in it. Since this is made of insulting material, Styrofoam, it is very light. I spent many hours making it. 9 Lacquered dining table lilies-of-the-valley K H I tried to modernize what is from old times. I made a lacquered dining table with 4 legs and a box-type dining table. The former one is put into the latter one for storage. The picture of this flower means happiness will come. I was happy to study in this course. K H Romeo and Juliet Japanese lacquer accessory box This motif is a turtle which is my favorite animal. This work is named after my pets, turtles. I like to manufacture accessories very much, so I made this box. I was happy I could make what I wanted. S H Koko-saisai Japanese lacquered wooden sandal I learned the merits of Japanese lacquer are sustainability, and good texture. We decided to make 5 pairs of wooden sandals because I thought they could make good use of these merits. They are the same sizes and shapes but the techniques used to decorate them were different.

10 Colorful lacquered round table Calmness N Y * The table around which people get together and feel at home N A My concept was to make furniture where you can feel connected to nature at home, and which would be fun to see. I drafted many ideas with the motif of a tree. It was especially difficult to make the flaps look like branches. I painted animals on my work when working on the lacquer finish. A lacquered sword and sword rack Jellyfish H A I made a set of lacquer artworks ( a sword and sword rack)to be placed in an alcove. put on the alcove. I am happy I could make what I wanted to and I am satisfied with my graduation work. I adjusted the rack to the size of the sword, and painted jellyfish on it beautifully. I enjoyed making them.
