1 MINI TRAVEL ALBUM & SUITCASE COVER Designed By: Regina Andari July 2013 A mini travel album is the perfect way to save photos and memorabilia from a special trip and to keep special notes and give a written account of events about the trip. There is plenty of space for photos and journaling in this mini album, and there are pockets to hold memorabilia. One thing that s needed for every trip is a suitcase, and this mini travel album has its own suitcase cover, which would be a perfect way to present the album to someone who is getting ready to take a special trip. Several of these suitcases could be placed on a shelf, and there s plenty of space on the closed end of the cover to attach an identifying label. Suitcase Instructions Step 1 Score the two 7-1/4 square pieces of Crumb Cake card stock at 1-1/4 on three sides.

Stamp the scratch image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set all over the card stock in

2 Step 1 Step 2 On one of the pieces of card stock, use scissors to cut 1-1/4 flaps on the left and right sides. On the other piece of card stock, cut off the 1-1/4 corners. Step 2 Step 3 Use the Shop Around wheel and Crumb Cake ink on both pieces of card stock. Stamp the scratch image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set all over the card stock in one direction, and then stamp again in the other direction to create a subtle fabric-like texture. Use a Stamping Sponge and Early Espresso ink on all of the edges. Step 3

Adhere four punched mosaic shapes to the suitcase straps, and then distress all three pieces of card stock with a sponge and Early Espresso ink.

3 Step 4 Cut two 1/2" x 6 strips from Crumb Cake card stock to use as straps on the suitcase, and score one end of each strip at 1-1/4. Cut one strip of 3/4" x 4-1/2 Crumb Cake card stock for the suitcase handle, and score each end of this strip at 1/2". Adhere four punched mosaic shapes to the suitcase straps, and then distress all three pieces of card stock with a sponge and Early Espresso ink. Step 4 Step 5 Adhere the card stock straps and handle to the 7-1/4 square Crumb Cake card stock that has the two corner flaps. Punch two mosaic shapes from Early Espresso card stock to adhere on each side of the handle. Pierce two holes on each of the punched shapes, including the two on the handle, and insert Vintage Trinkets brads as shown. Step 5

Step 6 From thin cardboard, cut two 1-1/8 x 5-3/4 strips and two 4-1/8 x 5-3/4 pieces. Adhere them as shown to the Crumb Cake card stock.

You can go ahead and cut two 1-1/8 x 5-3/4 strips of DSP to cover the 1-1/4 interior of the box (top and bottom), but those thin strips DO NOT get adhered until the suitcase assembly is complete.

Step 6a Step 6b Step 7 To adhere the two 7-1/4 pieces of card stock together, glue the card stock that doesn t have corner flaps to the inside of the card stock with flaps.

4 Step 6 From thin cardboard, cut two 1-1/8 x 5-3/4 strips and two 4-1/8 x 5-3/4 pieces. Adhere them as shown to the Crumb Cake card stock. Note: Now is the time to cover the largest pieces of thin card board with Designer Series Paper (DSP). To do this, cut two 4-5/8 x 5-3/4 pieces. You can go ahead and cut two 1-1/8 x 5-3/4 strips of DSP to cover the 1-1/4 interior of the box (top and bottom), but those thin strips DO NOT get adhered until the suitcase assembly is complete. The Step 8b photo shows the interior of the cover with DSP. Step 6a Step 6b Step 7 To adhere the two 7-1/4 pieces of card stock together, glue the card stock that doesn t have corner flaps to the inside of the card stock with flaps. Place Sticky Strip on the two 1-1/4 x 6 flaps to complete the assembly of the suitcase cover. Step 7a Step 8 On Very Vanilla card stock, stamp the arrows image using Gumball Green ink, will travel image using Early Espresso ink, and the let s be adventurers image using Calypso Coral ink. Punch the will travel image with the 1-3/8 Circle punch, and use Paper Snips and the Stampin Trimmer to cut the other two images. Pierce a hole in the three stamped pieces of card stock, and thread with Linen Thread to complete the suitcase cover.

5 Step 8a Step 8b Mini Travel Album Instructions Step 1 Create the front and back album covers by covering 4-1/2 x 5-1/2 thin cardboard (from Stampin Up! s Designer Paper Collections) with 6-1/2 x 7-1/2 DSP. Adhere the cardboard onto the back side of the DSP. Use Paper Snips to cut the four corners of the DSP diagonally, and then adhere all four sides to the cardboard. Step 1a Step 1b Step 1c

Step 2 To line the inside of the front and back covers, adhere 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 DSP to them. Step 2 Step 3 Stamp the grid image using Basic Black ink on the front cover.

Stamp the let s be adventurers image onto Whisper White card stock using Baked Brown Sugar ink, and cut out the stamped image.

6 Step 2 To line the inside of the front and back covers, adhere 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 DSP to them. Step 2 Step 3 Stamp the grid image using Basic Black ink on the front cover. Stamp the hello from image using Gumball Green ink onto Very Vanilla card stock, cut out the image, and then stamp the airplane image using Daffodil Delight ink. Stamp the let s be adventurers image onto Whisper White card stock using Baked Brown Sugar ink, and cut out the stamped image. Stamp the balloon image using Calypso Coral ink onto Very Vanilla card stock, and punch it with the 2-1/2 Circle punch. Punch three pennants from DSP using the Petite Pennants Builder punch. Use Glue Dots to adhere a 6 piece of Whisper White Baker s Twine to the pennants, and then adhere this embellishment to the cover with Stampin Dimensionals. Adhere the other stamped images to the cover, using Stampin Dimensionals on the Baked Brown Sugar triangle-shaped image. Note: For my album, I used a binding machine and punched the holes accordingly. If you don t have a binding machine, punch three holes in the covers and all pages so that you can secure your album with binding rings. Step 3 Step 4 For page one, fold a 4-1/4 x 10-1/2 piece of DSP in half. Fold back the top layer diagonally to form a pocket page. Use adhesive along the bottom of the paper and the short side to make the pocket secure. Stamp the Live the life you ve imagined image using Basic Black ink. Stamp the will travel image onto Whisper White card stock using Calypso Coral ink, and punch it with the 1-3/8 Circle punch. Adhere the punched image with Stampin Dimensionals. On the 3-1/2 x 4-1/4 Crumb Cake card stock, place a strip of Washi Tape on the right side, and then slip the card stock into the pocket.

On a scrap of Pool Party card stock, stamp the scratch image using Baked Brown Sugar ink, and then punch it using the Petite Pennants Builder punch.

7 Step 4 Step 5 Page two is a piece of DSP cut with the Top Note die. Cut one of the short sides so it will have a straight edge. Tear the bottom edge of the 2-1/2 x 3 Vellum card stock, and then adhere it to the DSP with a Glue Dot in the top right corner. On a scrap of Pool Party card stock, stamp the scratch image using Baked Brown Sugar ink, and then punch it using the Petite Pennants Builder punch. On a scrap of Whisper White card stock, stamp the arrows image using Gumball Green ink, and then use Paper Snips to cut out the stamped image. Adhere it to the Pool Party stamped and punched pennant, and then use Stampin Dimensionals to adhere it to the DSP, covering the right corner of the Vellum card stock. Step 5 Step 6 For page three, score a 10-1/2 x 6-1/2 piece of DSP at 2-1/4. Fold on the scored line, and then fold the paper in half to form a two-pocket page. Use Sticky Strip to adhere a 6 strip of Baked Brown Sugar Stretch Ruffle Trim to the DSP so that it wraps around to decorate a portion of the pocket page on both sides. On a scrap of Crumb Cake card stock, stamp the dotted heart image. Cut the image and then use an arrow-shaped Cute Clip

to hold it onto a 4 x 4 piece of Whisper White card stock. Cut another 4 x 4 piece of Whisper White card stock for the other pocket. Use Daffodil Delight ink to decorate the card stock.

Staple this embellishment to the top left corner of the Whisper White card stock. Step 6a Step 6b Step 7 Page four is created with the bottom half of a Tag a Bag bag.

On a scrap of Baked Brown Sugar card stock, stamp the you can never have too much happy image using Basic Black ink, and use Paper Snips to trim the card stock to size.

8 to hold it onto a 4 x 4 piece of Whisper White card stock. Cut another 4 x 4 piece of Whisper White card stock for the other pocket. Use Daffodil Delight ink to decorate the card stock. Stamp the happy day image using Baked Brown Sugar ink onto a scrap of Pool Party card stock, and then cut it to form a flag. Staple this embellishment to the top left corner of the Whisper White card stock. Step 6a Step 6b Step 7 Page four is created with the bottom half of a Tag a Bag bag. Just cut the bag in half and use the 1 Circle punch to create a semi-circle in the center. Stamp the frilly floral image using Early Espresso and Calypso Coral inks. On a scrap of Baked Brown Sugar card stock, stamp the you can never have too much happy image using Basic Black ink, and use Paper Snips to trim the card stock to size. Use the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch and Crisp Cantaloupe card stock to decorate the bottom of the tag, and then staple it to the top of the bag. Stamp the top center of a 4 x 4 piece of Whisper White card stock with the frilly floral image using Baked Brown Sugar ink, and slip the card stock into the bag. Step 7

Step 8 Page 5 is another two-pocket page. Score a 10-1/2 x 6-1/2 piece of DSP at 2-1/4. Fold on the scored line, and then fold the paper in half to form the two pockets.

For the second pocket insert, stamp the post card image using Basic Black ink on a 4 x 4 piece of Baked Brown Sugar card stock.

To create this page, fold a 4-1/4 x 12 piece of DSP in half and place it on the Oval Accents die as shown (Step 9a), and run it through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.

Glue the sides of the DSP with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

9 Step 8 Page 5 is another two-pocket page. Score a 10-1/2 x 6-1/2 piece of DSP at 2-1/4. Fold on the scored line, and then fold the paper in half to form the two pockets. The card stock inserts for one of the pockets is a 4 x 4 piece of Daffodil Delight card stock, which has been stamped with the balloon image using Baked Brown Sugar ink. For the second pocket insert, stamp the post card image using Basic Black ink on a 4 x 4 piece of Baked Brown Sugar card stock. Staple a snippet of Baked Brown Sugar Stretch Ruffle Trim to the top right corner. Step 8a Step 8b Step 9 Page six has a pretty shape and a pocket. To create this page, fold a 4-1/4 x 12 piece of DSP in half and place it on the Oval Accents die as shown (Step 9a), and run it through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine. Score it at the first straight line as shown (Step 9c), and fold the scored portion and adhere it to the front of the die-cut paper. Glue the sides of the DSP with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Using Baked Brown Sugar ink, stamp the hello image onto Very Vanilla card stock, and then stamp the flashlight image using Calypso Coral ink. Cut out the stamped image, adhere a Baker s Twine bow with a Glue Dot, and then adhere it with Stampin Dimensionals. Create the pocket insert with a 2 x 4 piece of Pool Party card stock, and stamp the dotted heart image at the top using Gumball Green ink. Step 9a Step 9b

10 Step 9c Step 9d Step 9e Step 10 Page seven is the other half of the Tag a Bag bag that was cut in half in Step 7. Use a strip of Washi Tape to close the bottom of the bag. Cut a 3-3/4 x 4-1/4 piece of Whisper White card stock for the bag insert, and stamp the arrow and splat images using Calypso Coral ink. To decorate the outside of the bag, stamp the Yippee-Skippee! image using Basic Black ink on a scrap of Pool Party card stock. Trim the card stock to size, and staple it to the top front of the bag. On a scrap of Whisper White card stock, stamp the Travel Post image using Calypso Coral ink, and punch it with the Postage punch. Step 10a Step 10b

Step 11 For page eight, cut a 4-1/4 x 10-1/2 piece of DSP. Fold the paper in half. On the front of the paper, use a pencil to make a tick mark along the open edge 1 from the bottom.

Make sure the vertical fold line is also lined up with the cutting track, and cut the paper to form the diagonal pocket opening.

11 Step 11 For page eight, cut a 4-1/4 x 10-1/2 piece of DSP. Fold the paper in half. On the front of the paper, use a pencil to make a tick mark along the open edge 1 from the bottom. Open the paper, and line up the tick mark with the cutting track on the Stampin Trimmer. Make sure the vertical fold line is also lined up with the cutting track, and cut the paper to form the diagonal pocket opening. Place a strip of Washi Tape approximately 3/4" from the bottom edge of the pocket page, and use Sticky Strip to adhere a 6-1/4 strip of Baked Brown Sugar Stretch Ruffle Trim along the diagonal edge of the pocket. Cut a 3-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of Calypso Coral card stock for the pocket insert, and place Washi Tape along the bottom. On a scrap of Crumb Cake card stock, stamp the globe image using Baked Brown Sugar ink. Punch it with the 1 Circle punch, and layer it onto a 1-1/4 punched Pool Party card stock circle. Step 11 Step 12 Page nine is a 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of DSP cut with the Top Note die and the Big-Shot. Use the Stampin Trimmer to cut a straight edge on the left side of the paper. On a scrap of Crumb Cake card stock, stamp the and it s all really good image. Cut it to size, and adhere it to the DSP. To create the button, use a small piece of Simply Pressed Clay and color it with Pistachio Pudding ink. Use gloves and knead the clay until the ink has evenly colored it. Press it into the Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Mold. Place the mold in the freezer for about 15 minutes, and then remove the button from the mold and allow it to continue drying for several hours. Thread Baker s Twine through the button holes, and allow the thread to hang from the back of the button. Use a Glue Dot to adhere the button to the page. Step 12

Step 13 The last page of the travel album is another double-pocket page. Score a 10-1/2 x 6-1/2 piece of DSP at 2-1/4.

Use the label die from Apothecary Accents Framelits to cut six labels two from Pool Party card stock, two from Crumb Cake card stock, and two from Daffodil Delight card stock.

Wrap Washi Tape on one end, and use Paper Snips to make fishtail cuts to the other end. Adhere these to the die-cut labels.

12 Step 13 The last page of the travel album is another double-pocket page. Score a 10-1/2 x 6-1/2 piece of DSP at 2-1/4. Fold on the scored line, and then fold the paper in half to form the two pockets. Use the label die from Apothecary Accents Framelits to cut six labels two from Pool Party card stock, two from Crumb Cake card stock, and two from Daffodil Delight card stock. Use card stock scraps to cut 1/2 x 1-1/2 strips (two each) from Pool Party, Crumb Cake, and Daffodil Delight card stock. Wrap Washi Tape on one end, and use Paper Snips to make fishtail cuts to the other end. Adhere these to the die-cut labels. Use Baked Brown Sugar ink to stamp the airplane and double-arrow images on the die-cut labels. Stamp the scratch image on each label, and then place three labels in the front pocket and three in the back pocket. Use Sticky Strip to adhere an 8 strip of Baked Brown Sugar Stretch Ruffle Trim around the folded edge of the front and back pockets. Use Gumball Green, Baked Brown Sugar, and Calypso Coral ink to stamp the postage images (stamp each image twice) on scrap Whisper White card stock, and punch them with the Postage punch. Step 13a Step 13b
