I. Building the Circuit on the origami paper 1. Trace.

Put the circuit diagram behind your origami paper and line up the edges. Tape both to a window so the circuit diagram shines through.

If you are using patterned paper your circuit should be drawn on the patterned side. (See image right) 2. Fold.

Making the Circuit You will cut approximately 11 pieces of copper tape to make this circuit. Angles of cuts with alternate between 90 and 35 degrees. 4.

Make sure you do not have a tape seam here. Generally you do not want your tape seams on horizontal folds.

2 I. Building the Circuit on the origami paper 1. Trace. With a new piece of origami paper use a window to trace the circuit pattern onto your origami paper. Put the circuit diagram behind your origami paper and line up the edges. Tape both to a window so the circuit diagram shines through. For light paper you can trace with pencil. If your paper is dark use a highlighter. If you are using patterned paper your circuit should be drawn on the patterned side. (See image right) 2. Fold. (Practice run) Now fold the water balloon design using the piece of origami paper that has the traced circuit. See the diagram at right to know how the folds and circuit drawing work together. This step is a practice run that will identify folds before you create the circuit. Once completed, carefully unfold. (See image right) 3. Making the Circuit You will cut approximately 11 pieces of copper tape to make this circuit. Angles of cuts with alternate between 90 and 35 degrees. 4. Tips for Building the Circuit The second horizontal fold up from the bottom and on the left side of the paper is a tricky spot. Make sure you do not have a tape seam here. Generally you do not want your tape seams on horizontal folds. Put the seams of the tape as close together as you can but do not overlap. The adhesive backing of the tape is insulating (and can break the circuit). Make sure your tape seams are not on folds. Put lines of conductive ink over the copper tape seams. This is to allow the current to flow through the tape seams. Use a hair dryer to dry the solder points, Run the dryer for 3 minutes. Then let it set the circuit aside for another 5 minutes. Solder points need to be completely dry to be conductive. Test your circuit before folding. The positive side of the LED needs to connect to the positive side of the battery.
