by: Cora Neil In 1962 Neil Armstrong was the first person to do two things. He was the first person to land a space craft on the moon and walk on the moon. One thing Neil Armstrong said on the moon was, That s one small step for a man, one giant step for mankind. Something I thought was interesting was he made 7 flights in the X-15 space craft. He was able to make an altitude of 63,198 meters out into space. Wow, isn't that amazing. He flew around the solar system. Armstrong

Howard Hughes, Jr. built a plane with his crew called H-1 Racer. This event happened in the 1930 s in Glendale, California. Howard Hughes built his most famous air craft called the Spruce Goose. By the time his air craft was finished he only flew it one time. The Spruce Goose was the biggest air craft ever. Howard Hughes was a great aviator. By David Martinez

The Montgolfier Brothers In 1782 on a launch site the Montgolfier brothers invented a balloon called a hot air balloon. They made the very first air craft. It actually flies and it flew for 8 miles and 2 minutes. Now the hot air balloon is hard to find in the sky. They do not make many hot air balloons any more. If you have not seen a hot air balloon they are very cool to see. By : Erin Moody

Manfred Richthofen, better known as the Red Baron, was a famous World War I aviator. He had many dog fights, or plane fights. One with Eddie Rickenbacker, a famous American pilot. Other than that he also flew over Wilfred May on April 21, In 1969 when he was killed, he had over 80 victories in the world of flight.

Roscoe Turner was a great air racer. He won 6 trophies minimum. Roscoe mostly won all of the trophies in California. He started racing in the 1930s. Turner was a great example for air racing and never giving up because even though he lost the first few races, he never quit. He tried to convince people to try new things. Roscoe rode mostly in the Lion (plane). He is still known today for air racing. The Lion by: Harrison Roscoe with fellow racer Bennie

Igor s year of significant aviation event is Igor thought of a machine which would rise straight off the ground and it has 2 propellers so he has made a helicopter. Helicopters change flight because helicopters can fly but not be moving. Helicopters can fly in one spot but not be moving. Helicopters can carry more people than a plane. It can fly straight up and has a latter to pull people up. Helicopters can rescue people that are stranded in the ocean. It helps people that are stuck on their roves. It helps people that are stuck in floods. Jared Neil IGOR SIKORSKY

Joey Count von Zepplin is the great inventor of the blimp. He invented the blimp on March 14, 1899 in the United States even though he originates from Germany. The blimp is a large skinny cylinder shape covered framework with compartments holding gas, engines, and passengers. His contribution to flight made a quieter transportation for the military. His invention also changed the way we look at major sports forever. In conclusion Count von Zepplin is a great aviator and overall great man.

On October 14, 1947 Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier and the space barrier. He had a great effect in the world of flight. Yeager set a record by braking the barriers of space and sound. He was a very famous person. His record helps students learn about him. By: Kelly Connerley

Eddie Rickenbacker is known in history for setting a record for 26 official victories against German aircraft in World War I. He had dog fights or battles in sky. He had a big dog fight with Manfred Richthofen known as the Red Barron. Dog fights were very important in the World Wars. Eddie Rickenbacker and the Red Barron led many people through World War I in aircrafts as they fought against each other. This all happened in 1918 over the skies of Germany. By: Lauren Sandidge

Wilbur Wright and his brother, Orville, made the dream of flying reality when they built and flew the first motor driven airplane in The longest flight by Wilbur Wright, was 852 feet [250 meters] almost three football fields, and lasted 59 seconds.
