He speaks 'pompously' implying that he has jumped to his conclusion too quickly. Comic When he 'discovers' the trapdoor to the roof at Mr Athelney Jones is presented as a Pondicherry Lodge, he is somewhat comic character. His quickly 'crestfallen' when blustering nature is in contrast with the Holmes explains that he composure of Sherlock Holmes. was the one who opened it.
