He has cut himself off from humanity completely. Luckily, he does not need to return to land: he has Agents. Luckily, his agents are not human! From his command centre on board the Nautilus, Captain Nemo sends out his animal agents across the continent. They are on missions: to seek gears for his time machine s Difference Engine; to find the legendary Wreath of Picea Rubens, and the Essence of Spirit Bear. And they all watch the waters for the signs of the Invaders! Nemo s Cabin Photos for this book: Jeff Lord and Craig Francis. Illustrations: Craig Francis and Irina Litvinenko for Kidoons. 3 Out From Below Lyrics by Craig Francis and Rick Miller. Music by Rick Miller. NED: I dream of the creature, by night and by day Wielding my weapon, I slaughter my prey Two thousand cash, I d be rolling in dough So, hey, you big monster, come out from below! Hey, you big monster, come out from below! ARONNAX: I dream of the creature, like you, Mister Land It s slightly less gory, and slightly more grand A bestselling book, and a glass of Bordeaux So, please, Mister Monster, come out from below! So, please, Mister Monster, come out from below! TOGETHER: Out from below! (NED: Where are ya, you creature?) Out from below! (ARONNAX: I d so love to meet-cha!) With a hey and a ho, come out from below! With a hey and a ho, come out from below! With a hey and a ho, come out from below! Can you play along? Time is 3/4. The 2 verses E E D E E E D E C#m B A E C#m B C#m (hold) C#m B E Chorus E E E E A A A A C#m B A E C#m B C#m (hold) C#m B E The ending C#m B C#m (hold) Did you know? A sea shanty was a type of song used by merchant sailors to keep the rhythm and pass the time as they worked on ships!
4 Antarctica When Captain Nemo reaches the south pole, he claims something big... Antarctica is the 5th largest continent, nearly twice the size of Australia! It is the last continent to be discovered by humans: when Jules Verne published Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea in 1870, no one had been able to reach the south pole yet (it happened in 1907). Antarctica is important for birds, fish, plankton, and marine mammals. A group of 12 countries share management of it. Antarctica Did you know? Antarctica has mountains higher than the Rockies, and is 98% covered in ice. The photos on this page and the video in the play were really taken in Antarctica!
5 Giant... or Colossal? The giant squid is a real animal, and so is the colossal squid! Squid are advanced mollusks found in all oceans. Colossal squid are only found in deep cold waters. The squid is a relative of the octopus, and it also has an ancient shelled cousin called... the nautilus! On a mission from Nemo, Paddy discovers the only colossal squid on display in the world, in the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, in Wellington. Its eye is 11inches (27cm) wide, the biggest of any animal! This giant squid is a model suspended in the St. Louis Zoo, Missouri Meet Molly! This giant squid is preserved at MOTE Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida. Did you know? Squid have 8 arms, like the octopus, but also 2 long tentacles with sawtooth suckers... and a razor-sharp beak! Pro tip: never hug a giant squid!

7 DO NOT flush medicine and pharmaceuticals down the toilet. Use phosphatefree laundry and dish detergents, soaps & shampoos. DON T use your toilet as a garbage. DON T pour Fat, Oil, and Grease (F.O.G.) down the drain. DO NOT leave water running while you wash your hands or brush your teeth. Get a low-flow shower head with a timer. Take a short shower instead of a bath! You re a New Atlantean! Captain Nemo needs you to protect the waters of the Earth... but it starts right here at home! When your thoughts you collect, And with friends you connect, Be the change you want to see. Mobilis in Mobili! Welcome to New Atlantis Atlantis was first written about by Plato in 360 BC, but New Atlantis was built by the Old Ones millennia before humans were on Earth. It is your HQ, and it can move: who knows where it is now? When New Atlanteans find facts and creative ideas, the city reveals them to people through channels like the Kidoons network and its productions!
