2 What is a flashback? A flashback is a scene that interrupts a story to describe an earlier event. We learn about a character from a I remember when Shaggy and I searched the haunted house. A ghost popped out from the door and scared me! flashback. When I learned that the ghost was a *sham, I was never scared of them again!! *sham-a fake or counterfeit

3 What is foreshadowing? Foreshadowing is the authors' use of clues to Mrs. Gultch hint what might happen later in a story. We learn about future of a story from Toto and Dorothy foreshadowing. The Witch At the start of the Wizard of Oz, Mrs. Gultch morphs into the wicked witch. We are shown a foreshadow or hint of Dorothy s future!
