2 ACT 1 On the coast of Cornwall, a gang of pirates bid farewell to apprentice pirate Frederic; he was apprenticed to the pirates only until his twenty-first birthday, which is that day, and he is leaving them. Ruth (Frederic s nursery maid when he was younger) explains that Frederic should never have been a pirate in the first place; she was told to apprentice him to a pilot, but, being hard of hearing, she misunderstood and placed him with a pirate instead. Frederic tells the pirates that when he is no longer a pirate it will be his duty to destroy them, but in the final minutes before his apprenticeship ends, he tells the pirates that they aren t able to make piracy pay because they are too tender-hearted; because they are all orphans, the pirates will not rob another orphan. Since their potential victims are aware of this, they all claim to be orphans! Frederic is persuaded by the pirates to take Ruth with him when he leaves. Ruth in turn persuades Frederic, a very trusting young man who s never seen another woman in his life, that she is beautiful and that they should be together. Ruth is undone however when a bevy of genuinely beautiful maidens shows up on the beach. Frederic realises he was betrayed by Ruth, and rejects her. Frederic informs the girls that he is a pirate, but not for much longer. He asks if any of the girls will marry him and one of them, Mabel, agrees. The pirates enter the scene, and each claims a girl for himself. Major-General Stanley enters and identifies himself as the girls father, demanding to know what is going on. The pirates tell Major-General Stanley that they intend to marry his daughters. This is not what he has in mind for his extensive family so, knowing about the pirates weakness, Major-General Stanley tells them he is an orphan and, thus, disarms the pirates and takes his daughters away, along with Frederic, to his family chapel and estate. ACT 2 Act II opens with the major-general, who actually is not an orphan, feeling guilty about the lie he told the pirates. Frederic, however, has a plan to lead a squad of policemen against his old associates. Before he can act, however, the pirate king and Ruth arrive to inform him that because Frederic was born on February 29 of a leap year, he has served only five birthdays, not the twenty-one required by his contract. His sense of duty forces Frederic to rejoin the pirate band and to reveal the truth that Major-General Stanley is not an orphan. The pirate king vows that he will have revenge on the major-general. Mabel enters and begs Frederic not to go back to the pirates, but bound by his sense of duty, he leaves her. The police ready their attack on the pirates, while the pirates creep in to take revenge on the major-general. The stage is set for the final encounter between the police and the pirates; will the police triumph or will the pirates have their revenge? Or will Ruth reveal the truth about who the pirates really are...? Synopsis by Matthew Callaghan

We have had a fantastic time putting the show together, Steve Rayner our musical director has note bashed the notes to within an inch of their lives. Not only has Steve pushed us musically but has also brought to life a small Pirate band in which he also dons the Accordion, all will be revealed!
