Informaţia oferită mediului universitar are o influenţă directă asupra îmbunătăţirii calităţii procesului de învăţământ. Lucrarea îşi propune să analizeze rolul bibliotecilor universitare în asigurarea nevoilor de informare ale utilizatorilor, în procesul căutării şi regăsirii informaţiei. For this reason information literacy is gaining a very high profile as an essential aspect within education. From a modern library perspective information research management concern the process of managing information resources, information technology and a subset of information processes involved in the information lifecycle. The goal of information resources management is to help people and organizations access, process and use. The article provides a point of view about information life-cycle as a benchmark in information management. The purpose of this paper is to present the concept of information literacy, how information resources management assures access to information and services and the role of librarian such as information literate person. 2 2. HOW TO PUT THE LIBRARIAN AT THE USER S SERVICE. INFORMATION RETRIEVAL - Lector Dr. Cristina ALBU, Librarian Georgeta STANCIU, Librarian Rodica NEŞU, University Politehnica of Bucharest, Central Library Abstract: For many years people have realized the importance of archiving and finding information. Along with the arrival of computers, it became possible to store large amounts of information and finding the right information at the right time from such collections became a necessity. In the era of virtual research environments the ideal librarians must be qualified for satisfying the relevant requirements of the community they are serving. The article is a review about the concept of information retrieval, techniques to improve search effectiveness (relevance feedback, cluster hypothesis, natural language processing), different measures for evaluating the performance of information retrieval systems and some tools to aid the retrieval of information (from traditional information retrieval systems OPACs, bibliographic databases to more sophisticated tools digital libraries, institutional repositories, next generation catalogs). The article also describes the new role of librarians as professionals who intermediate between information and users. Being experts in searching for materials and data they are required to have deep knowledge about retrieval systems, new qualifications and skills such as: IT skills, information literacy skills, creating search strategies, guiding and training users to understand the information retrieval processes, how to formulate queries and how to use the system. - BIBLIO International Conference on Library and Information Science, June 3th 5 th, 2010, Braşov ( 1. USING ROMDOC AS A DIGITAL REPOSITORY IN THE CENTRAL LIBRARY OF UNIVERSITY POLITEHNICA OF BUCHAREST, Eng. Titus Marius BERCARU - Centre for Technology Transfer in the Process Industries, Librarian Carmen PREDESCU - Central Library of University Politehnica of Bucharest Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide a summary of the experience of Central Library of University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest concerning the involving of the library in ROMDOC project, the aim and the objectives of the project, the great advantage of the repository for institution, academic staff, and students. Actually, the article wants to be a case study about the work done so far. The main project activities include technical aspects (hardware and software infrastructure, installation and configuration of CDS Invenio), documents selection, scanning process and quality control, cataloguing and URL allocation (the library accomplishes cataloguing and indexing according to the actual standards, with the adopted bibliographic format, MARC21) and not the last a policy which defines the quality standards for document type, the file formats, the metadata standard as well as the long term availability of the documents. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF SERVICES PROVIDED TO USERS drd.adriana Cristian, librarian Niculina Pistol - Central Library of University Politehnica of Bucharest Abstract:The paper is set as an overview of the concept "information technology" in terms of improving the service quality in an info-documentary structure. The information provided has a direct influence on the quality of education. In this context, libraries must feel obliged to continually analyze the informational needs of the users. These needs be consistent with the level of the technological development. The paper will discuss how information technology has a direct influence upon the academic libraries in terms of quality assurance. We will analyze the quality of services based on the use of information technology in the university environment, in tandem with the use of other methods which aim to increase the quality of the services provided to users. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CLASSIFICATION, CODIFYING, AND ELECTRONIC ARCHIVING OF MODULATED CONTROL DEVICES, drd. Adriana CRISTIAN, Politehnica University of Bucharest Abstract: Increased efficiency in ensuring the complex control of processing precision in parts of different types and sizes is accomplished by using modulated control devices. The promotion of a modulation based conception for control devices results in increased precision and control. The basic characteristic of modulated control devices is flexibility in use. The codified presentation of control devices contributes to shortening their retrieval time and storage according to their classification. This classification may be performed under the form of flow charts, precisely for ensuring simplified and computerized retrieval. The present work is intended as a case study for pointed control devices. The application is created in Java using graphic facilities. 4 - SLOVE. Targ de carte aleasa la Muscel, Iulie 2010 ( Biblioteca Centrală a Universităţii Politehnica din Bucureşti s-a prezentat la Târgul de carte aleasă SLOVE (23 25 iulie 2010, Câmpulung Muscel) cu un stand propriu, unde vizitatorii au avut posibilitatea să consulte oferta de publicaţii tipărite de editura Politehnica Press (publicaţiile au avut regim de expoziţie). Organizat sub patronajul Federatiei Editorilor din Romania, evenimentul a reunit cele mai importante edituri din ţară; acestea şi-au prezentat oferta recentă de carte, în special carte şcolară, carte universitară, carte pentru copii şi tineret. Au avut loc lansări de carte, dezbateri şi mese rotunde pe subiectul viitorului lecturii in secolul audio-vizualului, internetului, bibliotecilor on-line etc. Universităţi prestigiu din ţară, precum Universitatea Bucureşti, Universitatea Politehnica din Bucureşti, Universitatea Lucian Blaga din Sibiu, Universitatea din Piteşti, Universitatea Valahia din Tărgovişte au prezentat oferta de facultăţi şi oferta de carte universitară, precum şi perspectiva lecturii în secolul audio-vizualului în cadrul Mesei rotunde "SLOVE DIGITALE". De asemenea, în cadrul târgului de carte SLOVE, a avut loc o dezbatere despre cultura digitală şi lansarea cărţii Informaţia digitală în cultură - Cercetări şi realizări, apărută în editura Ars Docendi a Universităţii din Bucureşti, realizată de Prof. Univ. Dr. Ing. Doina Banciu, Cercetător Ştiinţific III, Dora Coardoş şi Programator I, Cornelia Lepădatu şi prezentată de Dl. Prof.Gheorghe Buluţă, Directorul Bibliotecii Centrale a Universităţii de Medicină şi Farmacie Carol Davila şi de Ioan Crăciun - directorul editurii Ars Docendi a Universităţii din Bucureşti.

6 A XXI-a CONFERINŢĂ NAŢIONALĂ A ASOCIAŢIEI BIBLIOTECARILOR DIN ROMÂNIA. BIBLIOTECILE ÎN CULTURA INFORMAŢIEI ŞI COMUNICĂRII, Bucureşti, 9-11 septembrie 2010 ( În perioada 9 11 septembrie 2010 s-a desfăşurat la Bucureşti cea de-a XXI-a Conferinţă Naţională a Asociaţiei Bibliotecarilor din România. Tema Conferinţei a fost Bibliotecile în cultura informaţiei şi comunicării. Deschiderea oficială a lucrărilor Conferinţei Naţionale a ABR a avut loc în Aula Magna a Academia de Studii Economice şi s-a bucurat de prezenţa unor personalităţi marcante din mediul academic din ţară şi din străinătate, precum: - Prof. Univ. Dr. Mircea Regneală, Directorul Bibliotecii Centrale Universitare din Bucureşti, preşedintele ABR - Prof. Univ.Dr. Ion Gh. Roşca Rectorul Academiei de Studii Economice - Prof. Univ. Dr. Ion Pânzaru Rectorul Universităţii din Bucureşti - Prof. Univ. Dr. Ştefan Diaconescu Rectorul Universităţii de Ştiinţe Agricole din Bucureşti - Vasile Timiş din partea Ministerului Culturii - Victor Olimp consilier la Universitatea de Medicină şi Farmacie Carol Davila din Bucureşti - Prof. Univ. Dr. Doina Banciu Director General al Institutului Naţional de Cercetare Dezvoltare în Informatică (ICI) - Prof. Univ. Mauro Guerrini de la Universitatea din Florenţa, Preşedintele Asociaţiei Bibliotecarilor din Italia - Prof. Dirk Aerts de la Universitatea din Leuven, Belgia - Ane Landoy de la Universitatea Bergen din Norvegia După acordarea distinctiilor ABR ( şi lansarea cărţii Repertoriul lucrărilor elaborate de bibliotecile din România, vol. II: Lucrări elaborate de biblioteci universitare au avut loc prezentările firmelor ROMDIDAC S.A. - EBSCO S Complete Discovery Solution şi PROQUEST - Managementul informaţiei pentru utilizatori şi bibliotecari. Lucrările pe secţiuni s-au desfăşurat pe parcursul a două zile, ( Universitatea Politehnica din Bucureşti găzduind Secţiunea de comunicarea documentelor (Sala Senatului) şi Secţiunea de Seriale (Facultatea IMST, amfiteatrul 001).
