Asst.Professor, SRM University, Chennai 1. ABSTRACT This paper presents an intelligent traffic control system to pass emergency vehicles smoothly. Roads near traffic signal are equipped with traffic sensor (IR sensor). We use IR sensor (TSOP38238), WIFI module (ESP 8266) and TIVA C launchpad which consists of signal conditioner, amplifier and ARM M4 micro-controller fixed in it and tiva software is loaded in it. IR Sensor checks the vehicles passing on that particular path. It also determines the network congestion, and hence the green light duration for that path. In addition, when an ambulance is approaching the junction, it will communicate to the traffic controller in the junction to turn ON the green light. This process works on wifi and tiva launch pad of ARM M4 micro controller loaded with TIVA software, WI-FI Module uses IR sensor and ARM micro-controller for wireless communications between the ambulance and traffic controller. The prototype was tested under different combinations of inputs in our wireless communication laboratory and experimental results were found as expected. 2. Keywords Wifi module (ESP 8266), IR sensor (TSOP 38238), ARM m4 controller, tiva c launchpad 3. INTRODUCTION Traffic management on the road has become a biggest severe problem of today's society. There are so many examples that ambulance got struck in the traffic load, Ambulance has to wait for some minutes to hours to clear the traffic load. Patient may die because of lack of treatment at proper time. To overcome this hazard and to save many lives, A new model proposed in this paper which provides the functionality of one path clearance i.e. the ambulance going path will be cleared. This situation is finished by redesigning innovation called Internet of Things(IOT) implies that the segments are associated with the internet and those segments can be controlled by means of internet from being in other place. This IOT has significance since the object that represents itself digitally makes itself something greater than the object by itself. The things can be associated with different gadgets either through RF ID (Radio Frequency Identification) or WI-FI or sensor systems. There is an expectation that around 50 to 100 billion things will be connected to internet in next ten years and we are currently encountering outlook change, where in which the objects we use everyday have become interconnected and smart. On a more extensive scale the IoT is connected to things for lessening waste and increment the proficiency of the things by diminishing the vitality utilization. This situation is worked by wise emergency vehicle. 4. PROPOSED SYSTEM The Existing system contains different parts such as Zigbee, CC2500,PIC16F877A, GSM,SIM300 and GPS, RFID reader which communicates with the RFID tag and zigbee which makes a reliable safety system for communication. In this paper we have developed a prototype that works with IOT, IR Sensor and WI-FI Module and communication can be done through INTERNET and traffic signals can be controlled by emergency vehicle driver, where these are connected to common wifi. 2 5.INNOVATIVE CONGESTION CONTROL FOR AMBULANCE USING IOT -HARDWARE IMPLEMENTATION The proposed system contains different parts such as IR-Sensor, WIFI Module, tiva c launchpad which is having signal conditionder for the converting of signal from one electronic signal to another type of signal and amplifier for the increase of overall magnitude of signal and ARM M4 micro-controller embedded in it. WI-FI module is used for the communication between traffic signal and emergency vehicle and IR Sensor for the checking the status of traffic near the signal is controlled by this sensor. The hardware specifications are given below: 5.1 ESP 8266 Wi-fi Module ESP8266 is an impressive, low cost wifi module suitable for adding wifi functionality to an existing microcontroller project via a UART serial connection. The module can even be reprogrammed to act as a standalone wifi. It operates on 3.3V DC supply. Figure 1: ESP 8266 WI-FI Module 5.2 LM 1117 Linear Regulator These are low dropout linear regulators as we are using for reducing of voltage for our device convience. We are using 3.3v, 5v regulators in this process. It is also available in 1.8v,2.5v,2.85v of adjustable versions. 5.3 IR Sensor TSOP38238 This is used for distingushing disturbance signals in this project this plays a role of detcting traffic intensity and changing traffic signals according to intensity of traffic for controlling congestion. 5.4 Tiva C Launchpad Tiva c launchpad is the combination of signal conditioner, amplifier and arm cortex m4 micro-controller in which tiva software is already loaded it works with energia software pre-installed in the system Figure 2: Tiva C Launchpad 85 Kasukurthy Uday Bhanu, Achanala Puneeth Krishna, Suganthi Brindha.G

BLOCK DIAGRAM In this IR Sensor connected to tiva c launchpad and it is connected to traffic signal through wifi module when emergency vehicle access the HTML page that changes the traffic signals to green when any vehicle comes in middle to IR sensor directly as information is transferred to tiva c launchpad as it is already communicating with traffic signal Figure 3: Block Diagram of Proposed System 6.1 Graphical View of Proposed System The graphical view of proposed System is given below. FINAL OUTCOME When the emergency vehicle is arriving near traffic signal where congestion is happened the vehicle is having an button which can turn signal to green when it is arriving near through wifi module it can send signal to traffic signal which automatically turns green when any vehicle approches the signal where IR sensor is fixed 86 Kasukurthy Uday Bhanu, Achanala Puneeth Krishna, Suganthi Brindha.G

CONCLUSION With automatic traffic signal control based on the traffic density in the route, the manual effort on the part of the traffic policeman is saved. As the whole framework is computerized it requires very less human intervention..emergency vehicles like ambulance, fire trucks, need to reach their destinations at the earliest. If they spend a lot of time in traffic jams, precious lives of many people may be in danger. With emergency vehicle clearance, the traffic signal turns to green as long as the emergency vehicle is waiting in the traffic junction. The signal turns to red, only after the emergency vehicle passes through. Further enhancements should be possible to the model by testing it with GPS. GPS can be placed into the ambulance, so that the exact location of emergency vehicle is known. Currently, we have implemented system by considering one road of the traffic junction. FUTURE SCOPE The design can be further implemented in a more advanced way by introducing the GPS to track the emergency vehicle and also RF ID to IR sensors to track the stolen vehicles that passes through traffic signals. Also the design of Multi road circuit and a complete design circuit needs to be implemented further. It will be a challenge to design such circuit that can implemented with all these components along with satisfying requirements. 10.
