13 GSM FOR RURALITY The network is in Afghanistan on E70B On top of the original C-band GSM backhaul network, we explore the implementation of a separate rural GSM network in Ku-band. This rural GSM network is comprised of lowtraffic IP-BTS along with low-cost mast, fencing and solar panel for total autonomy in terms of energy and very low Capex. 17 GSM BACKHAUL COMBINED WITH RURALITY The network is Congo DRC on E3B Instead of the regular C-band GSM Backhaul network we are using Ku-band, to combine High traffic BTS with low traffic rural connectivity remote. We are homogenizing / optimizing the network in Ku-band. The benefit of such a combined network is to use a single hub for all kind of BTS, reduce the Capex, reduce the energy consumption at the remotes. 18
