You can put some thing which you want to be tared on the weigher and press [TARE] key to tare it. (Net Weight = Gross Weight - Tare Weight) 2. F-Function Setting : F00 The indicator allows the user to enter a numerical value as the tare weight directly via F00. An error message E r r F 0 0 will be displayed, if the setting value isn't a multiple of the minimum division or the setting value is greater than the maximum capacity. 3. Tare Reset : (the tare value = 0) <1>. Press [TARE RESET] key as the weight value is displayed. <2>. Enter a 0 value via F TARE LED : TARE : Turns on after a tare weight has been stored in memory. Net Weight = Gross Weight - Tare Weight TARE : Turns off when the weight is equal to 0. Net Weight = Gross Weight 4.2 General Function Settings (F01~F08) : F01 : Auto Net Weight Display The "Auto Net Weight Display" function can be set on or off via F01. When the "Auto Net Weight Display" function is set on, the indicator will switch to the net weight display automatically after a tare weight has been set, and the indicator will switch to the gross weight display after the tare weight has been reset. 4-1

25 F02 : Weight Unit F02 allows you to select the unit of weight. F03 : Display Frequency The display update rate of the indicator can be selected by the user via F03. For examlpe, if the display frequency set to "0:16 times/sec.", then the indicator will display the weight per 8 times A/D conversion. F04 : Power-On Auto Zero The indicator will zero the display once at the electric power is connected, if the "Power-ON Auto Zero" function is valid. The user can select the "Power-ON Auto Zero" function to be valid or inhibited via F04. F05 : Zero Tracking If there is a small deviation, beyond the zero point, within a set range and this state continues for more than a set period, the "Zero Tracking" function will bring the display back to zero automatically. The indicator needs the user to select a zero tracking range and a zero tracking period via F05 to to perform the zero tracking. F06,F07 : Digital Filter I and II The indicator is designed to use the double stage digital filters to reduce fluctuation of a weight value. The 1st stage digital filter selector can be selected from "0" to "4" via F06 and the 2nd stage digital filter selector can be selected from "0" to "2" via F07. The display will be more stable if the number of the filter selector increases, but the response will be worse instead. To the contrary, if the number of the filter selector is reduced, the response becomes better although the display may not be stable. Select the best number according to the measurement. F08 : Stable Detection The indicator needs the user to select a stable range and a stable period via F08 to perform the stable detection. The 4-2

26 stable range is denoted by the minimum scale division and the stable period is denoted by the time in seconds. The indicator will be easier to enter the stable state if a larger stable range and a shorter stable period is selected, although the display may be fluctuant. 4.3 Adjustment & Calibration (F50~F58) Y our indicator should be calibrated when first installed, or after a weighing system component (load cell, A/D circuit board,..... etc.) has been changed. All weighing systems should be calibrated at least once every 12 months. Please allow a warm up (plugged in) for at least 30 minutes to achieve thermal stability before starting calibration. For best accuracy, calibrate with as near to full span weight as possible. Full Calibration Procedure : Step 1 : Open the "CAL Switch" cover on the rear panel and slide the "CAL Switch" on. F50~F59, F60 and F61 will not CAL SW be executed if the "CAL Switch" is at the off position. An error message E r C A L S will OFF ON be displayed, if any one of these functions has been selected without setting the "CAL Switch" on. Step 2 : Set the parameter for the Zero Range via F50. The indicator allows the user to press the [ZERO] key to return the display to the center of zero when the weighing device is empty. This function works only if the offset value is within a set percentage limit, which is called "the Zero Range", of the weighing device full capacity. An error message E r r o r 0 will be displayed, if an offset value is beyond the zero range and a zero operation has been proceeded. Step 3 : Set the decimal point place via F51 The decimal point place of the display weight value can be set via 4-3

27 F51. The default for the decimal point place is "1 : X X X X X.X". Step 4 : Set the "Minimum Division" via F52. The "Minimum Division" can be set to 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 or 50. Step 5 : Set the "Maximum Capacity" via F53. The "Maximum Capacity" is the full weight that you want your weighing device to handle. It could be the rated capacity of the loadcells, or some other limit you wish to be. The maximum capacity also has a relationship to the display resolution. In general, the display resolution of an indicator has the form of a ratio of the maximum capacity to the minimum division. The disaply resolution of this indicator can be from 300 to Thus, 300 [(the Maximum Capacity) / (the Minimum Division)] The following messages during the maximum capacity setting: may be displayed as an error indication E r F : The maximum capacity is not a multiple of the minimum division. E r F : The resolution is under 300. E r F : The resolution is over Step 6 : Proceed the "Zero Adjustment" via F54. The "Zero Adjustment" is a process to give the HB8215/6 a base reference point "ZERO", to the weighing device when it has no weight on it. <1>. Select F54 Function: Display C A L - P O ZERO TARE GROSS NET STAB FUNC 4-4
