UNIVERSAL MAGNETICS (wholly own unit of M/s. AKS Power Equipments Pvt. Ltd.) being pioneer in VPI Dry Type Transformers manufacturing over a period of 28 years have served the many prestigious corporate houses like CESC Limited, B.E.S.&T. Undertaking, ITC Limited, BARC - Trombay, Bhushan Power & Steel Limited etc. and designed and developed a unique Prefabricated Compact Substation (PSS) with the following features. Contd.2

2 [ 2 ] 1. 2 mm thick CRCA Sheet Steel Corrugated Enclosure with 4 Nos. of 200 mm Dia, 85 mm Thick M.S. Bi-Directional Roller for easy movement of the equipment. 2. VPI Dry Type Transformer with Class C Insulation. Coils are wound with Nomex Aramid Paper (Type 410) made by DUPONT, USA & Vacuum Pressure Impregnated in Silicone Varnish imported from Dow Corning, USA. Contd..3

3 [ 3 ] 3. 1 No. 11 KV RMU Unit consisting of 1 No. SF 6 Circuit Breaker and 2 Nos. Load Break Switches Nos. 1C x 95 sq.mm 11KV XLPE Copper Cable with Raychem Termination Kit along with cold applied boots for CB feeder & transformer side termination set 2000 A Copper Bus Bar connection between LT terminals of transformer to 2000 A, 4-pole, ACB for controlling the DTR. LT terminals of the transformer to be connected to the said Bus Bar through 2000 A copper flexible with bimetallic joint. 6. Winding Temperature Scanner with 3 Nos. 4 [ 4 ] A Vertical Fuse Strip Units with associated bus connection for the outgoing distributors 8 sets, suitable for connecting 4C x 400/240 sq.mm XLPE Aluminium Cable. Alternately required nos. of MCCB may be installed for LV Distribution System. 8. Separate door is provided for temporary connection of external Generator directly to LV Bus Bars in case of emergency measure with HV supply switched off. Contd..5

5 [ 5 ] Transformer Specification Rating : 990 KVA Voltage Ratio : 11KV/415V Taps : Taps are provided on Primary Side in a fibre glass board and changed manually by copper link at off circuit position. Range of Taps = + 5% to 5% in steps of 2.5% Type : Dry, AN (Air Natural Cooled) Applicable Standard : I.S Dry Type Transformers. No. of Phases : 3 Frequency : 50 Hz. Connection : Dyn11 Class of Insulation : Class C Allowable Temperature Rise 140 C over an ambient of 40 C as per I.S. Guaranteed Winding Temp. Rise : 115 C at Nominal Tap comply with Class H Insulation as per I.S. which is 25 C lower than specified Class C Insulation used in our transformer. Therefore, our transformer shall be capable of operating with 10% Overload Continuously without loosing its Normal Life Expectancy. Type of Insulation : Nomex Aramid Paper (Make DUPONT, USA), Silicone Varnish (Make Dow Corning, USA), Glass Tapes etc. Coils are insulated with Nomex Paper & Glass Tapes and Vacuum Pressure Impregnated in Silicone Varnish. Core Material : C.R.G.O. M-4 with Full Mitred Step Lap Joint Construction. Winding Material : E. C. Grade Copper. L.V. Winding L.V. Windings are made of Copper Foils with Nomex Paper Interlayer which are extremely rugged in construction and also capable of withstanding Short Circuit Current Situations as well as reducing Hottest Spot Temperature more efficiently comparing to Multiple Strip Conductors. H.V. Winding H.V. Windings are made of E.C. Grade Copper Strip/Round with Nomex Paper Covering (50 : 50 Overlap). Test : Type Test The Transformer has successfully passed the following Type Test a) Dynamic Short Circuit Test b) 75 KV Impulse Test c) Temperature Rise Test Routine Test The Transformer has successfully passed all the Routine Test as per IS ********************************************************************
