With over 75 engineers covering disciplines from component optimization, to system integration and design utilization, API Technologies offers advanced solutions for today s defense, commercial, aerospace, and wireless related system Frequency Multipliers Up/Down Converters API Technologies produces a wide range of custom narrowband and broadband Upconverter and Downconverter for demanding EW These Upconverters and Downconverters utilize high performance mixers, amplifiers, and filters which allows API engineers to optimize critical parameters for superior performance. API Technologies s line of both low phase noise frequency Multipliers and low noise, odd order, SRD based Frequency Multipliers deliver superior AM phase noise performance as well as excellent spurious levels. These Frequency Multipliers come in a variety of configurations including Dividers, Doublers, Triplers, x4 Multipliers, x8 Multipliers, 15 Multipliers, x16 Multipliers, and higher order multipliers including a x48 Multiplier design. This family of Multipliers offer additional filtering through a narrow high Q bandpass filter. On these designs, the input signal is amplified, multiplied and filtered at the appropriate frequency. Internal semiconductors are housed in rugged hermetically sealed packages to ensure excellent performance over military environmental conditions. Additive phase noise testing is performed on each device to ensure low phase noise/jitter performance. API Technologies up-converters and down converters also feature an optional dual channel frequency converter with a tunable synthesized LO, popular in many airborne Broadband Performance Low DC Power Consumption Broad Dynamic Range Multiple Band Input Preselectors Multiplexed Pre-Selectors API Technologies offers sophisticated Integrated Pre-Selectors by leveraging our strengths in filters, amplifiers and PIN switching. These Pre-Selectors can either be switched or multiplexed. Optional band-optimized LNAs provide superior noise figure and IP3 performance. 3 Switched Filter Banks API Technologies Switched Filter Bank designs draw from a multi-disciplined staff with many years of experience in both microwave filters and control components. By combining filter and switch design expertise, API Technologies can provide integrated switched filter assemblies that not only reduce the overall mechanical footprint, but also offer improved electrical performance. This improved performance is achieved through the ability to align the filters to the switches, thus removing any associated mismatches. The end product is an integrated assembly with improved VSWR, passband variation, insertion loss, and RF shielding/isolation as well as reduced component count, and higher reliability. Frequency Activity Detectors API Technologies manufactures a range of Frequency Activity Detectors (FADs) which perform frequency measurement of an RF pulse and output data in as little as 15 ns. API Technologies integrates high performance broadband channelizers, high Q filters and low loss detectors. This approach provides stable outputs over temperature, and a more tolerable RF match for the filter with improved Signal to Noise ratio. FADs are ideal for receivers which operate in high pulse density environments. API integrates the detector diode and video choke network directly on the Suspended Substrate Stripline circuit. The correct impedance match is presented to the output of the channel filter by a direct tap to the last resonator. Digital Frequency Discriminators API Technologies produces a wide range of Instantaneous Frequency Measurement and Digital Frequency Discriminators (DFDs) tailored to the stringent requirements of today s state-of-the-art EW receivers. High speed Instantaneous Frequency Measurement (IFMs) utilize either discrimination, channelization or a combination of those two techniques. API Technologies proprietary Suspended Substrate Stripline (SSS) technology is used, together with custom Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) processing circuits, to ensure our customers of high reproducibility, small size and low cost. Switched Multiplexers API Technologies s high performance Switched Multiplexers form the heart of most Self Adaptive Channelized Receivers. These Switched Multiplexers are realized by power splitting the broadband input equally between two filter banks. Each filter bank utilizes multiplexed, switched bandpass channels forming odd and even channels. The outputs are recombined in a resistive combiner.

4 Digitally Tuned Oscillators API Technologies offers a complete line of Digitally Tuned Oscillators (DTO) ranging from 2 GHz to 18 GHz. These custom designs consist of a select number of sub-band low phase noise VCOs covering customer specific frequency. The sub-band RF outputs are selectively switched to a common RF output port with sufficient sub-band overlap to insure full band coverage. Digital tuning is via a 16 bit parallel input word with several bits being used for selecting the desired sub-band and 12 to 14 bits reserved for frequency tuning. Silicon semiconductors are used to provide superior phase noise performance and post tuning drift performance. Hybrid MIC technology is used to reduce package size and ensure high system reliability. Fast settling time and excellent spectral purity make API Technologies DTOs ideal for simulators and other EW Synthesizers API Technologies Series 400 Synthesizers offer Wide Bandwidth, Multiple Step Size Options, Fast Switching Speed, and Low Phase Noise combined with Exceptional Value and Reliability. Frequency control options on these designs include Serial/Parallel inputs, BCD/Binary format, or traditional thumb-wheel switches. API Technologies offers several options for locking to a specific source. The customer may choose internally referenced crystal oscillators or low ppm (high stability) OCXOs. Externally referenced frequencies can range from 10 MHz to 100 MHz. Frequency Multiplier Oscillators The Frequency Multiplier Oscillator (FMO) is a compact 21 channel synthesized signal generator that provides transmit and LO signals for L-band and S-Band airborne radar systems. This design incorporates a unique isolation system for exceptional phase noise performance during vibration. This ruggedized design has successfully passed environmental qualification for Temperature-Altitude, Humidity, Salt, Fog, Vibration, Acoustical Noise, and Shock Testing. Multiplied Phase Locked Oscillators API Technologies line of Multiplied PLOs provides ultra low phase noise performance, and can be modified to meet customers unique requirements. These Multiplied PLOs offer flexibility in the desired output frequency by utilizing a series of x2 multipliers. 5 Receiver Front-End Designs API Technologies offers a line of custom receiver front-end designs which enhance receiver performance though the use of API s filter enhancement and other high performance core components. By using API s proven reliance on its own experts in filter, mixer, amplifier, and switch designs, API Technologies is able to deliver exceptional performance in a high reliability framework. Master Reference Oscillators API Technologies s line of Master Reference Oscillators (MROs) are vibration-hardened ultra low noise crystal oscillators designed for airborne military These low noise oscillators feature SC cut crystals for high stability in an ovenized cavity for exceptional frequency vs. temperature stability. The Master Reference Oscillators includes x2 and x4 multipliers, low noise amplifiers, built-in power test, and low loss bandpass filter circuits for spectral purity. Switchable Multi-Channel Amplifiers A low resonance (<10 Hz) vibration damping system minimizes the effects of phase noise performance during vibration. This unique dampening structure involves suspending the oscillator in mid-air isolating it from the detrimental effects of microphonics. API Technologies offers state-of-the-art multi-channel amplifiers used in military frequency calibration systems. These 2, 3, and 4 channel modules are phase matched, amplitude matched and offer both single and multiple path logic. These units allow the engineer to distribute an amplified signal to multiple ports, or measure the amplified output from up to 4 auxiliary ports.
