7 Series 260 Design Features The Series 260 low-profile 30mm package design makes it a perfect solution for many machine and motor applications. It is available in two options: a blind hollow bore; and a complete through-shaft design. The Series 260 and its integral bearing-set provide for stable and consistent operation, without concerns for axial or radial shaft runout. 11 Series 702 Design Features The Series 702 encoder is a heavy duty, extremely rugged and reliable, yet compact encoder which conforms to the industry standard Size 2 50mm / 2 configuration. The double shielded bearings are rated to 120 N (Max) axial and radial loading to ensure a long operating life in the harshest of applications. When fitted with a shaft seal and PG9 cable gland with flying lead, this device meets a protection level of IP65. 13 Series 730 Design Features This very rugged size 25 encoder has been designed to suit a wide variety of industrial applications, and may be specified in various output options, from 0001 to 1600 PPR, as per the list of standard disks on pages 46 and 47. Encoder 730/1 is a single channel, 730/2 is quadrature and 730/3 is single + marker. The 730/4 unit has been discontinued. Quadrature + marker functions are now catered for by the 735/1. 15 Series 735 Design Features Due to some major technology enhancements the 735 encoder is now available in six resolution ranges, from 0001PPR through to 30,000PPR. The former 734 encoder (A+B+Z + complement signals), has now been replaced by the 735/1 with PPRs available as per list A on page 47. With models 735/2 through 735/6, which use advanced circuitry, it is now possible to provide selected resolutions up to 30,000 PPR. 17 Series 740 Design Features A heavy-duty encoder, designed to equate in form, fit and function to the widely used 90mm Ø with 12mm Ø shaft device. It is available in all of the popular output circuits and channel configurations. The bearings are double sealed to give prolonged service. The resolution may be selected from available PPRs between 0001 and 1600 PPR. This unit is also available with a 444 type tacho flange. Encoder 740/1 is a single channel; 740/2 is quadrature; and 740/3 is single + marker. The 740/4 unit has been discontinued with quadrature and marker functions now catered for by the 745/1. 37 Circuits HV including RS422, RS485, TTL, HTL, NPN, PNP (A, A, B, B, Z, Z) This UNIVERSAL HIGH VOLTAGE OUTPUT DRIVER may be used in either single ended or differential mode. In differential mode the HV driver will function as an RS422 driver, a TTL driver or an HTL driver. 38 Circuits and Waveform Timing Electro Magnetic Compatibility, EC Directive 89/336/EEC All of our products have been CERTIFIED by an INDEPENDENT TEST HOUSE to ensure that each type will fully integrate into systems, or machines, requiring EMC certification. Since JAN , Encoders fitted with a flying lead HAVE THE CABLE SCREEN IN CONTACT WITH THE ENCODER FRAME. The purpose of this is to ensure total shielding of the encoder electronics, by virtue of it s metallic body and cover, all of which will be bonded together and terminated to the screen. The user should ensure that the component parts of the machine, or system frame, are at the SAME POTENTIAL, (FRAME/GROUND/EARTH/SIGNAL GROUND/PE), if necessary by bonding together by means of a copper "EQUI-POTENTIAL BONDING CONDUCTOR" of at least 6mm section, to the PE, (building protective earth) For Encoders fitted with a connector, WHEREVER POSSIBLE, we will fit a case ground" to one of the connector pins, this will be in contact with THE ENCODER FRAME. RS422 differential drive should be employed wherever possible. Always use sensible cabling practice by separating encoder signal cable routing from other services, if necessary by the use of grounded separators or trunking. Use twisted pair cables with an overall BRAIDED screen, e.g. BELDEN 9807 or equivalent. The RT module shown on page 38 can help to solve most problems when transmitting encoder signals over long lengths of cable. Waveform Timing These output waveform timing diagrams illustrate the relationship of output A, B, and Index. Quadrature separation (right) is typically 90 electrical degrees with a tolerance of 10%, giving a minimum edge separation of 72 e. A leads B for clockwise rotation of the encoder shaft. For NPN output, A, B, and Z will not be present. For some types the marker pulse can be gated, Z A, Z B, Z A B.
