The MIG is a further innovative solution of EMC PARTNER AG to cover customers requests. The basic units are discharge modules (patented) which can be configured in serial or parallel, to offer an optimum solution for the customer need. The use of one type of discharge module guarantees a high reliability and a high quality. The MIG generators are compact and have an excellent value for money. The MIG generators are modern test equipment with the following features: Solid state impulse switch and solid state polarity change (no mechanical switch, no spark gaps or tubes) - advantages: low jitters, no high frequency switching noise, Microprocessor menu controlled, printer port and RS232 remote control Safety in accordance with VDE 0104 (safety circuit, connector for warning lamp) Integrated peak measurement for voltage and current. Peak display and monitor output for v,i Windows software for PC control available for windows 95, 98, 2000, NT or XP EMC PARTNER AG 1/9

2 2 General 2.1 Brief description of the generator The MIG0603IN2 is a surge generator for simulation of indirect lightning on telecom and process and measurements lines. The relevant recommendation are ITU-T K.44 and IEC The MIG0603IN2 includes a hybrid generator with a voltage wave shape 1,2/50 μs at "no load" and a current wave form 8/20 μs at short circuit. The voltage and current wave form can be guaranteed at the terminal of the included CDN and on the direct output for signal line teststing. The peak output voltage and current of the MIG are indicated on the display. The two BNC monitor outputs allow monitoring the voltage and current wave shapes by an oscilloscope 2.2 EUT connection (equipment under test) For data line coupling waveforms CWG and 10/700 μs the flexible CDN-UTP can be used. For single phase power supply surging no additional CDN is necessary. Up to 16 A the MIG0603IN2 CDN can be used. The EUT must be connected with the MC banana plugged cables. For three phase power supply coupling either the CDN or the CDN2000A with automatically switched coupling path switching can be used. The maximum current is 32 A per phase. 2.3 Standards, applications Basic standards with generator specification IEC , EN , 1995 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - Part 4 Testing and measuring techniques - Section 5: Surge immunity test. 3 3 Generator circuit, wave shapes definition CWG 1.2/50μ 2 Ohm and E is used for C62.45 application. independent from coupling path 2 Ohm or 12 Ohm are required. CWG 1.2/50μ IEC the coupling impedance will be automatically switched: 2 Ohm for L to N and 2 plus 10 Ohm between L to PE or N to PE. The CCITT is equal ITU-T K.44 10/700 μs waveform.
