9 Getting Started Before First Use Carefully remove the Handheld UHF CB Radio from its packaging. If there is any visible damage, do not attempt to operate it. Contact our after sales support centre for advise using the details on the bottom of the page. Your new Handheld UHF CB Radio comes with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery ready installed. Before first use, fully charge the battery for 10 to 14 hours with the unit turned off while charging. When the battery status icon flashes and "ba low" shows on the LCD, the battery capacity is low and you need to recharge the battery. Charging the Battery The AUHR-014 must be used with its original charger base and AC adaptor or car adaptor. Make sure the unit is turned off. Connect the jack of the AC adaptor or the car adaptor to the socket at the back of the charger base. Make sure the jack is fully and firmly inserted into the socket. The LED indicators will turn green when the battery is fully charged. In case the LED indicators on the charger base do NOT turn red with the units placed inside, double-check if the unit is placed properly inside the charger, or change the battery pack and retry the recharging process. IMPORTANT LITHIUM ION BATTERY WARNINGS This equipment contains a Lithium Ion battery pack. Do not charge the battery pack in any charger other than the one supplied, which is designed to charge this battery pack. Using another charger may damage the battery pack or cause the battery pack to explode. If you are not going to use the unit for a long period of time, e.g. several weeks, please take out the battery to prevent damage. Only replace batteries with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Do not short-circuit the battery pack. Lithium Ion batteries must be disposed of properly. Consult your local recycling authorities for proper disposal instructions. Do not dispose of the battery pack in a fire. Doing so may cause an explosion Model: AUHR-014 Product Code: /2015

26 FAQs Problem No power Weak reception Cannot change channels Limited range Sound distortion problems Solution Ensure the battery pack is installed properly. The battery pack may need recharging, see p. 9. Press the UP button to increase the volume. The receiving signal may be weak and/or out of range. In this case, use the MONITOR function. To change channels, press the ON/OFF button repeatedly until the channel number flashes on the LCD. Then press / to change channels. Recharge the battery pack if there is a low battery alert. Recharge the battery pack if there is a low battery alert. The maximum range will vary depending on terrain and environment. Open fields provide the maximum range while steel/concrete structures, heavy foliage and use in buildings and in vehicles may limit the range significantly. Wearing the radio close to the body, such as in a pocket or on a belt, will decrease the range. Change the location of the radio. If you are transmitting, speak in a normal voice, 5 7cm away from the microphone. If you are receiving, set the volume to a comfortable level. If the radios are too close to each other, increase your distance; they must be at least 1.5m apart. The radios may be too far apart, or obstacles may interfere with transmission. The talk range is up to 10km in clear, unobstructed conditions Model: AUHR-014 Product Code: /2015
