HFIA The year to finally integrate HF with all primary systems Barrett 4050 HF Software Defined Radio with IP, IMAP, and Wi-Fi. Deployable systems with integrated microcells, C4/C5 software switching, and others.
Failover versus Fallback for telecomm providers Primary transport modes: Fiber, copper, VHF/UHF, Microwave, Satellite, Failover Many layers of alternate transport resources are needed to protect operation of these primary technologies. You, no doubt, have many such alternate resources in place. Fallback HF-NVIS CrucialConnect systems from NVIS, and our partners. However, protection of primary transport technologies will never provide full confidence against network outage because the primary technologies depend upon infrastructure and are therefore always vulnerable. Fallback away from primary systems to the simplest possible, infrastructure-free transport medium for the most critical PSAP and HADR communications is needed. C5 HF-NVIS The simplest possible fallback transport mode is HF-NVIS.
HF (High Frequency) Radio High Frequency is the radio band between 3 and 30 MHz. Modern HF is now ready for automated fallback applications including serving as standby circuits in telecommunications networks Primarily AM Radio Historically Base Layer Ham Fallback Radio, for Shortwave Government, Broadcast Industry, and Military Telecom Land Mobile Radio - Emergency services, business, government Microwave, satellite, cellular, telecom circuits, wireless devices, etc. Modern infrastructure is complex and distributed, and therefore always vulnerable. MF Medium Frequency HF High Frequency VHF Very High Frequency UHF Ultra High Frequency SHF Super High Frequency.3 MHz 1000 m 3 MHz 100 m 30 MHz 10 m 300 MHz 1 m 3 GHz.1 m 30 GHz.01 m
NVIS (Near Vertical Incident Skywave) For distances up to thousands of miles HF-longhaul Ionosphere For regional blankets of several hundred miles HF-NVIS Ionosphere Signal toward horizon Signal straight up Both of these modes can now be integrated seamlessly into communications networks for automatic fallback of failed circuit paths
Leading the News for This Year Barrett 4050 The industry s most advanced HF platform IP and Wi-Fi Connectivity, remote control enabled IMAP Mobile device and mail platform integration i.e. ios, Android, Win, OSX LTE, 3/4G, GSM, UMTS systems integration with pico/micro cell support and SPLICE TCP Full link scheduling and routing capability Priority and Emergency Messaging Features Multi-Language Graphical User Interface (GUI) Advanced digital signal processing (DSP) for superior voice communication 2G & 3G Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) options Detachable wired and wireless control head connectivity USB connection for transceiver programming, key fill and cloning (no pc required) Full rugged touch screen and tactile interface Fully ruggedized (MIL STD-810G) Fully backwards compatible with existing radio networks using international standards
Infrastructure-free Fallback for Emergency Services and Telecommunications NVIS Communications offers the ultimate HF integration with primary communications systems and Carrier Class 4/5 switching systems Components Devices HF Radio Systems LTE, GSM, CDMA Microcells Carrier Class 4/5 Softswitches Gateways to LMR, cellular, PSTN, VoIP Deployable Packages HF with Microcell HF with Class 4/5 switch NVIS Tactical Communications Unit. A mobile platform specifically geared for deployment of one or more HF stations along with any or all of the interconnects described
Component connectivity into the HF Cloud Broadband Loop Carrier Class 4/5 software switch SIP Cloud TDM PSTN SIP SS7, PRI, Digital Loop Carrier GR-303 LMR OC3 Analog ISDN LAN Cell Carrier Autopatch IMAP or POP Barrett HF Radio(s) and interconnects HF-NVIS Cloud --- hundreds of miles --- LTE, GSM, CDMA Microcell LTE, GSM, CDMA LMR Wi-Fi LMR Local Console PSTN Autopatch One HF-NVIS circuit can support data/voice up to 19200bps. In a disaster, you would restrict access to critical PSAP/HADR traffic, and potentially add additional NF circuits
Potential connectivity end-to-end This slide emphasizes that whatever connectivity there may be at one site, there could be the same or similar connectivity at any other site within hundreds of miles. HF-NVIS Cloud --- hundreds of miles --- Remember that an HF circuit would be one data/voice channel at a time to/from any two end points. Multiple, parallel HF circuits would increase throughput by one channel for each additional radio pair. This could be crucial as a base layer of fallback for PSAP or HADR.
CrucialConnect Component HF with Microcell/LTE The Barrett FIRSTLINK RFDS combines a Barrett HF radio and a microcell (LTE, GSM, or CDMA) into a deployable package It provides interoperable communications between remote field locations and CORE services
CrucialConnect Component HF with Class 4/5 software switch The CrucialConnect combines a Barrett HF radio, a fully automated (bi-directional dialing) PSTN interconnect, and a Carrier Class 4/5 software switch into a deployable package. It delivers interoperable communications to service providers, ILECs/CLECs and private networks. It is built on an industry-standard SIP-based architecture.
CrucialConnect Component NVIS Tactical Communications Unit The NVIS TCU is a standalone mobile platform specifically geared for deployment of one or more HF stations along with any or all of the interconnects described. Additional equipment can be specfied.
CrucialConnect infrastructure-free connectivity from a disaster area PSTN BLC DLC HF-NVIS Cloud --- hundreds of miles --- HF circuits would have to be restricted to critical PSAP, HADR, and emergency management traffic. C5
