3 I. APPLICATION The polrimeter is kind of instrument for mesuring the opticl rottion of substnce. Through mesuring the opticl rottion, the polrimeter cn be used to nlyze the concentrtion, content, nd purity of substnce. The -2 utomtic polrimeter utilizes the photoelectric detection utomtic blnce principle nd the results re displyed by LCD. It not only preserves the dvntges of 1 polrimeter, but lso overcomes the shortcoming of inconvenience in reding. -2 utomtic polrimeter is chrcterized by its smll size, high sensitivity, humn error-free, esy reding, nd so on. Furthermore, this instrument is lso suitble to the smple of low opticl rottion which is difficult to be nlyzed by visul polrimeter. Therefore, it cn widely be used in vrious fields of the orgnic chemicl industry. Agriculture: use in contents nlyses of griculturl ntibiotic, hormone, microbil gro-phrmceuticls nd griculturl products. Mediction: use in nlyses of ntibiotic, vitmin nd glucose nd in phrmcologicl reserch of Chinese medicinl herbs. Food: use in nlyses of sugr, monosodium glutmte nd soy suce, in inspection of their finl products nd determintion of sugr content in food. Petroleum: use in nlyses of minerl oil nd in control of oil ferment process. Essence: use in nlyses of essentil oil. Helth: use in nlyses of dibetics urine. II. PERFORMANCE Mesuring rnge: ±45 Accurcy: ±0.02 (-15 opticl rottion +15 ) ±0.05 (opticl rottion<-15 or opticl rottion>+15 ) Minimum smple trnsmittnce: 10% Repetbility: 0.01 Minimum indicting vlue: Monochromtic light source: LED (589.44nm) Smple tube: 200mm, 100mm Power supply: 220V±22V, 50Hz±1Hz Outer size: 600mm 320mm 220mm Weight (net): 30kg RS232 interfce
4 III. CONSTRUCTION AND PRINCIPLE The polrimeter utilizes LED, smll perture stop nd lens to mke up collimted point light source s shown in figure 1. The prllel light psses through polrizer nd becomes polrized light whose vibrtion direction is denoted by line OO in figure 2. When the polrized light is pssing through the Frdy modultion coil, its vibrtion direction will generte β ngle swing (50Hz), s shown in figure 2b. Then the polrized light psses through the nlyzer nd is projected onto the photomultiplier, n c signl will be produced. The opticl zero point of the polrimeter is obtined when the polriztion plne of the polrizer is perpendiculr to tht of the nlyzer (i.e. OO PP), nd t the time α = 0 (see figure 3). A photo-signl of 100Hz will be obtined t the opticl zero point, due to the β ngle swing which is generted by the Frdy coil, s shown in curve C. But in the cse where smples α 1 nd α 2 exist, two 50Hz signls with inverse phses re obtined, s shown in curve B nd D. Therefore, this will enble the servomotor with n operting frequency of 50Hz to be driven. The polrizer will be turned through α ngle ( α = α 1, or α = α 2 ) by mens of worm-worm wheel. Now, the polrimeter hs returned bck to the opticl zero point. At the frequency of 100Hz the servomotor keeps sttionry nd the opticl rottion of the smple is indicted. 1.LED 2.Condenser 3.Lens 4.Polrizer 5.Modultor 6.Collimtor 7.Smple Tube 8.Anlyzer 9.Lens 10.Filter 11.Aperture 12.Detector 13. 6 IV. HOW TO USE Opertion The instrument cn be operted under norml illumintion, temperture nd moisture. Extreme het, excess moisture nd corrosive gses my cuse dmge to it. The instrument should be plced on sturdy nd roughly level support. Insert the power plug of the instrument into the 220V power source. [It is required to use n AC electronic voltge regultor (1 kva).] And connect the grounding terminl to the erth relibly. Put the test tube contining distilled wter or other blnk solvent into the smple chmber, nd close the cover. After the indicting vlue hs got stbilized, press the cler button. If there re ir bubbles in the test tube, the first thing should be done is to mke the ir bubbles flot on the protruded tube-neck. The tomized wter-drops on the both ends of the test tube should be wiped dry. The screw-nut of the test tube should not be screwed down too tightly, so s to void stress, otherwise, the redings my be ffected. When plcing the test tube, cre should be tken for the mrked position nd direction. Tke out the test tube, then, inject the smple to be mesured into the test tube. According to the sme position nd direction, put the test tube into the smple chmber, then close the cover. Now the instrument will indicte the opticl rottion of the smple, 1 will shows on the LCD. Remrk: use the smple to wsh the tube (inside) three or five times before mesurement. Press the Re-M (repetition- mesurement) button once, 2 will shows on the LCD, the instrument disply the result of 2 nd mesurement, press the Re-M button gin, 3 will shows on the LCD, disply the result of 3 rd mesurement, press the button, shift disply the vlues of mesurement ech time, press the Averge button, disply the vlue of verge, the diode AV light. If the polrized ngle of the smple exceeds the mesuring rnge, the instrument will be oscillting t ±45, t this time, the test tube should be tken out, then the instrument will reset to zero utomticlly. After diluting the smple, mesure gin. Temperture correction After tking the temperture of the smple, correct the mesured result by clcultion.
7 V. MAINTENANCE The polrimeter should be plced in dry plce with good ventiltion nd kept from corrosion. The instrument should be hndled with cre nd vibrtion is not llowed. The light source cn be clened or chnged if it is dirty or fulty. If the instrument mechnism is operted in gret friction, it is dvisble to put some oil into the bevel gers, the worm ger s well s the worm through the rer door. If the instrument is dmged or some other prts re in filure, plese sk professionl to check or contct with our repir deprtment. 1. If test vlues devite from the correct ones, the instrument should be regulted with our stndrd qurtz test tube (vilble to customer s order) or with the smple whose Opticl Rottion is ccurtely known. Fig4 is the inside view of the instrument fter tking off its top cover Undo the holding screw shown in Fig.4, correct the test vlue by slightly moving the correcting slide until the stndrd vlue is obtined. Then tighten the holding screw. If the procedure bove doesn t succeed somehow, send the instrument bck to our fctory for thorough inspection.
8 VI. COMMON BREAKDOWN AND HANDING Brekdown Appernce ANALYSES FOR REASON Hndling method After turning on the power source (AC), the lmp doesn t light up. After turning on the power source (DC), the lmp doesn t light up. The instrument cn t blnce utomticlly. No disply or disply not completely The LED or the fuse is brek. The LED is brek.
