These are useful in replacing temperature compensation circuits and can simplify auto gain control (AGC) and circuit design in power amplification devices resulting in reduced design time, reduced board space and cost savings due to the reduced number of components required for these control circuits. Placing the proper temperature variable attenuator in series with the amplification circuit allows the gain reduction of the amplifier to be offset by the attenuation reduction of the attenuator, resulting in a stable output. This is represented by the pink line in the chart to the left.
