Operation guidance 4.1 Power charging Considering the actual condition of field use, AC and DC power sources are both available to this instrument. There are a pack of rechargeable batteries inside this instrument. In condition there is 220V AC current, the attached charger can be used to supply operating source to the instrument (charging the battery at the same time). When the voltage of the battery pack is lower than 4.4V, the symbol (undervoltage) appears. The instrument shall be charged with 220V AC current.
23 Generally, it shall power off the instrument before charging, and then use the attached charger to charge the battery, which shall follow below steps: 1) Plug the charger into 220V AC socket, then the green Indicator light will be on. 2) Use the connecting cable to connect the charger to the Charge terminal on the top of the instrument, then the indicator light will be converted from green to red, which indicates that the instrument in charging. 3) When the indicator light converted from red to green, it indicates an end to thi charging. The charging shall last for4~6 hours. The battery shall be full charged in each charging, otherwise its service life may be influenced. Generally, a full charged battery can work for more than 24 hours, and under the condition with maximum output current 20mA, it may deliver 8 hours of continuous service. If the work time of the instrument is significantly reduced, it shall take a replacement of the battery into account. H782 ProcessMultimeter Operation guidance 4.2 Auto power off 1) If there is no any operation (except pressing SHIFT) within 15 minutes after power on, the output display area and measurement
24 display area of the instrument will turn to sleeping state through power off to save electricity energy. 2) After power off, if turn the rotary switch or press any one of /HOLD, /REL and FUNC key, the measurement display area restores to normal operation. If in output state, pressing FUNC key may make the output display area restore to normal operation. 3) If press and hold FUNC key to power on, the auto power off function of measurement display area will be cancelled. 4.3 Backlight 1) If it is difficult to read figures due to poor light condition in measuring, RANGE key may be long pressed for over 2s to turn on the backlight. 2) Long press the RANGE over 2s again may turn off the backlight. 3) After the backlight is on, if RANGE is not long pressed for over 2s, it will be auto turned off 10s later. Note: 1) The illuminant of backlight is LED with high operating current. Though this instrument has timing circuit (the set interval is about 10s, i.e., the backlight will be auto turned off 10s later after turned it on), but frequent use of the backlight will reduce the life of battery, it shall use the backlight as less as possible, unless necessary. 2) The brightness of the backlight will decline along with the reduced voltage of battery pack. Note: 1) The output amplitude of output frequency is 4V, square wave. 2) When adjusting the signal, click or to change one or two figures of the output signal approximatively. When pressing and holding any of these keys, the output signal changes continuously. 3) When adjusting the signal, click or to change dozens of figures of the output signal approximatively. When pressing and holding any of these keys, the output signal changes continuously. 4) By pressing + simultaneously, the output frequency rises to its max value, while pressing +, the output voltage declines to its min value.
42 H782 ProcessMultimeter Operation guidance V DC output Turn the rotary switch until it leaves OFF to power on the instrument There is 24 V terminal at the front of the instrument for 24V source output. Note: 1)This 24V power source can deliver 30mA current output and contains short-circuit protection device inside. 5. Maintenance 5.1 Replace the battery pack Warning It shall remove the test lead from the circuit under measured before opening the battery cover of the instrument to avoid electric shock danger If the service life of battery pack reduced significantly after fully charged, it indicates the battery pack shall be replaced Unscrew the fastening screw on the battery cover to remove them Replace the used battery pack Put the battery cover back. Note: The polarity of battery pack shall not be fitted reversed, and the replacing battery pack shall be with the same specification as the one under replaced.
43 H782 ProcessMultimeter Maintenance 5.2 Replace the protective tube Warning It shall remove the test lead from the circuit under measured before opening the battery cover of the instrument to avoid electric shock danger. To avoid catching fire, the specified class of replacing protective tube is: F 0.5A/250V (quick fusing) The protective tube seldom needs replacement, a burn-out of this almost always due to misoperation Unscrew the fastening screw on the battery cover and remove them Replace the protective tube with the one with specified class Put the battery cover back. 5.3 Replace the test lead Warning The replacing test lead shall use the same one as the original test lead or the one with the same class. The test lead shall be in good condition of which the class is : 1000V 10A. If the isolating layer damaged, for instance, the metal wire of the lead exposed, the test lead must be replaced.
