The ECN3 can only be selected if the servo controllers ACS325 are active. If the servo controllers ACS636 are active and the encoder ECN3 is selected appears the following warning: "278 INPUT VALUE NOT POSSIBLE 89 E-AXIS"

Software enhancements QXD250 Page.3 Enhancement of all matrix processes: The number of cutting tips and the dressing rates can now be entered separately for roughing and finishing 2 - The number of cutting tips and the dressing rates can now be entered separately for roughing and finishing 2 in case of all matrix processes. - In case of old "*.vhp"-programs (with only one input value each for the number of cutting tips and the dressing rate) are the previous entries copied to the roughing/finishing dressing parameters whenever the new software is applied for the first time (see images and 2). (Image : old entries for the matrix programs) (Image 2: new input possibilities for the matrix programs)

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 2.4 Cutting tip enhancement in measuring program MP420 Number of cutting tips increased to 8 cutting tips (formerly were only max. 6 cutting tips possible).

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 3.5 Dressing speed adjustable in the dressing programs In each dressing program can the dressing speed be altered or reduced within 0%- 00% (default value 00%)..6 Optimization of non-productive times Generator and rinsing are no longer switched-off in between the eroding of cutting tips..7 Monitoring time of flow monitor The monitoring time of the SPS flow monitors was increased from 0 seconds to 5 seconds..8 ExLevel PRO: Move steady rest in / out The positioning of the steady rest can now be controlled in case of ExLevel PRO via the M-functions M78 (move forward) and M79 (retract).

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 4.9 ACS325 new firmware Channel : V004D Channel 2: 2V0008 Encoder system: V0026 Program enhancement Vollmer transformation MakeContinous is from now on used for the Vollmer transformation..2 Electrical probing and eroding In case of electrical probing / manual eroding (automatic/manual) was the setting of the parameter (ERFRK) for the BWO added..3 Dressing program 560 The B-axis is now also in case of lateral dressing swiveled to 0..4 ExLevel PRO Measuring program 420 Number of cutting tips was increased to 8..5 Main program 207/208 Because of the B-axis enhancement of +20 /-20 in the main program was the approach path altered..6 Network The network management was improved, and the data input fields of the network for the path and ExLevel PRO were made larger. Program enhancement New operating system CNC New operating system version "bs " In case of a short circuit (mainly happening at the inner corner) can an A-axis following error occur. Error message "Drive malfunction encoder state A-axis", or else in QT900 "Lag too large". The machine switches off. The new software version corrects this behavior.

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 5 2. Grinding program 77/78 If the grinding program 77/78 is operated in production mode can the first positioning of the X-axis be outside of the possible drive range. This error was deleted with the new operating system. 3. Update of calibrating program overview

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 6 4. Swivel point determination with calibration program MP453 Until now, the determination of the swivel point B towards the X-axis was manually measured. The new calibration program MP453 makes the determination of the swivel point B towards the X-axis automatically. 4.2 Calibration program MP453 0 The machine operator must put a 4mm ballpoint tip into the measuring probe before the calibration program MP453 can be started. Once the 4mm ballpoint measuring tip has been mounted must the calibration programs be performed in the below stated order: ) MP439 2) MP44 3) MP445 Only then can the calibration program MP453 be started (Image: MP453) Manual input of measuring arbor diameter Manual input of measuring probe diameter Manual input of measuring arbor length (this values defines the upper measuring point at the measuring arbor)

Software enhancements QXD250 Page Procedures of calibration program MP453 With the calibration program MP453 are the arbor concentricity and the A-axis alignment measured, the B- axis compensation is calculated, and the mechanical B-axis swivel point is determined. 5 Manual pre-positioning at the lower part of the measuring arbor: see image MP453 "". ) Automatic measuring of the arbor concentricity (measuring point "2"). (The warning "Measured deviation too large B-axis" is triggered if the measured value exceeds the allowance of 8µm). 2) Measuring of A-axis alignment, that is the differences between measuring points "2" and "3" and the Z- axis are determined (the warning "Measured deviation too large B-axis" is triggered if the measured values exceed the allowance of 4µm). 3) Start of measuring process Probing of measuring points -9 in order to determine the B-axis swivel point and the B-axis compensation. Each measuring point is probed 5 times. The average values of these measurings are taken for the subsequent calculations. 4.4 Enhancement of calibration program MP44 0: Measuring probe with regular tip (measuring performed as always) : Measuring probe with ballpoint tip: Additional measurings with measuring ball point tip offset X, that is measuring is performed at the carrier flange with the E-axis at 75 and 90 (precise determination of X offset only possible in case of measuring ballpoint)

Software enhancements QXD250 Page Enhancement of calibration program MP445 - manual displacement of flange position 2 - Determined X-axis reference Entry of measuring arbor length for the precise measuring of the measuring arbor length - - Measuring arbor diameter 3 5-0: regular measuring tip - : ballpoint measuring tip Enhancement of machine measuring page Display of measured measuring arbor length "ls"

Software enhancements QXD250 Page Enhancement of machine measuring page Determined values of measuring program MP453 (B-axis swivel point determination) Enhancement page 4 ball screw pitch error compensation Display of the calculated B-axis ball screw pitch error compensation: The ball screw pitch error compensation is determined in MP453 using the previously measured values.

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 2 5. Add-ons for non-productive time improvement - Activate update for override while the generator is ON - The positioning drives with generator ON were changed. 6. Add-on dressing speed without magazine Dressing speed without magazine is always set on 00% default value. 7. Add-on HP352/353 Program improvement for different dressing values (roughing/finishing) 8. Add-on SP7/8 Sequence improvement for swiveled B-axis during grinding process was added (was already implemented in the eroding process). 9. External error messages Drive errors are now transferred to relay K67 even if the control is switched off. 0. A-axis operation mode In case of Vollmer transformation 233/234 is the operation mode of the A-axis switched. Whenever an unexpected disruption of the machine occurred wasn't the state reset to rotary axis. This is now additionally made whenever the control is switched on.. Measuring system switchover Whenever manual measuring has been enabled is during the switchover to set-up operation now always the measuring probe (measuring system ) activated. 2. Measuring probe calibration Under certain circumstances it occurred that during the manual measuring process the measuring probe was calibrated while it triggered a message. This was solved in the PLC software.

Software enhancements QXD250 Page New program versions for CNC communication The company BWO provided new versions of Server.exe and QT900.exe. These programs facilitate - among other things - a slightly faster establishment of the connection during the machine start. 4. Enhancement of the operating times page On the second screen page of the operating times are the work piece machining times displayed. This chart was modified into a dynamic display of maximum 72 machined work pieces regardless of their magazine slot (no longer fix the first 72 work piece magazine slots). 5. Radius hogger The approach and retract values were improved in the radius hogger programs 39/40 (grinding) or else 239/240 (eroding). Approach and retraction are now made vertically to the path. The programs can therefore be used for a multitude of different work pieces. Program enhancement Adaptions of the update Due to compatibility reasons was the VInstall modified for different machine configurations. Program enhancement Concentricity measuring - Measuring program45 In case of an update with VInstall is the speed for the tool on the spindle set once to 00%. The speed can be adjusted in the tool administration program subsequent to any additional changes..2 Concentricity measuring - Measuring program45 The concentricity is measured at the shank of the tool. The measuring program should detect concentricity errors during the automatic loading from the magazine. Measured are 6 points in Z-direction. An allowance for the concentricity can be entered in the program. Whenever the allowance is exceeded is the workpiece returned unmachined to the magazine by the production program. All the following processing programs for this specific work piece are marked with error status (error: 9 MEASURING DEVIATION TOO LARGE). The program 45 must be put in the production program 653 before the actual processing.

Program enhancement Step grinding program 4/42 Technical information Edition: 08/207 Software enhancements QXD250 Page 24 The grinding program 4/42 was designed for the relief grinding in case of small pitches. The machining position is parallel to the cutting tip. It is also possible to perform the relief grinding in various steps. Path overview:

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 25 Paths to 8: Offset with regard to the previous clearance angle Chamfer width Clearance angle circumference Clearance angle at side Feed speed Number of strokes for the offset value stated under Machining position of B-axis Retraction path Path prolongation Diameter Path offset

Software enhancements QXD250 Page Circumferential speed Direction of the grinding wheel rotation E-axis machining positions Grinding wheel machining position (Note: Depending on the clearance angles to be machined and the steps is a grinding wheel displacement maybe impossible)..2 External malfunction after machining with program 408 Whenever the measuring program 408 was used during a machining process of the production program could in the other subsequent measuring programs an external malfunction occur. An adaption eliminated this malfunction..3 Tool loading door The tool loading door can no longer be opened during automatic operation due to safety reasons. The function is equivalent to the main loading door. Program enhancement New dressing programs AP567 and AP568 These new dressing programs were designed for the machining of small grooves. The contour of a A-disc is chamfered either on the right or left hand side in order to facilitate that kind of machining.

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 27 AP567: AP568:.2 Screen blackout mode The automatic screen blackout based on input of the waiting time has been removed as it wasn't necessary..3 Length measuring devices The length measuring devices can now be selected in the configuration independently of each other..4 P-System The function measuring mode (measuring of st cutting tip each) has been modified in program 370/37. The triggering of an error message has been eliminated..5 Eroding parameter The feed values for the eroding generator (basic settings) have been modified for the present generator. Previously modified values aren't affected..6 Measuring program 453 Modification of the measuring program 453 for the carrier SK50.7 Operating computer This version offers support for operating computers with Windows 8

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 28.8 Chip surface grinding Program 69/70 for the grinding of the chip surface Machining angle Direction of the grinding wheel rotation Peripheral grinding wheel speed Feed speed Retraction path Work piece diameter Display of grinding wheel diameter Display of distance between grinding wheel and pivot point Length of adapter HSK-F63 based on machine measuring Number of cutting tip Center offset of cutting tip Correction in X Grinding path in Z (length)

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 29 The dressing program 575 is mandatory in order to execute this program. It must be created via the tool administration. The values 7 and 8 are entered in the dressing program and automatically transferred to the grinding program. Either 467 or 468 are used as measuring program. Program enhancement Production program error message The error message 9 with add-ons 57 and 66 (measured deviation too high - Length/Diameter) is in the production program no longer declared as solvable error as otherwise before the subsequent exchange of the grinding wheel the error message "Work piece number input not OK" appeared..2 Dressing program 558 In dressing program 558 is the face width reduced by the dressing value. This is based on the previously entered diameter and face width. The face width is modified based on the measured diameter. The modified face width value is used in ExLevel Pro and also displayed there..3 Tool referencing In case of the dressing programs 553, 554, 555, was previously for each dressing procedure the X-position at the dressing steel referenced. In case of the dressing programs 55 and 556 was previously the X- position during the tool exchange referenced. For all these programs has now a common type of X-referencing been created, which can be adjusted as desired. Additionally was the function of the dressing programs 567 and 568 implemented. It can be adjusted in the tool program under "Referencing X". Possible settings: 0 Referencing is always switched off Referencing only in case of tool exchange 2 Referencing before each dressing process

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 30.4 QT900 The inputs and outputs are now described in clear text in the QT Error message optimization In order to obtain uniqueness is the error message "9 measured deviation too high - 57 Length, or else 66 Diameter" no longer declared as solvable error. The machine operator sees now in the production program mode that this tool can't be used. This error message replaces the former error message "Work piece number input not OK"..6 ExLevel Pro In ExLevel Pro is in the dressing program 558 the face width reduced by the dressing value. Calculation and display takes directly place in ExLevel Pro..7 Export of machine data Under "Program versions" can machine data be transferred with F5 "Export" as text file either onto an USB stick or into a DNC directory.

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 3 The file contains: Machine type Machine number Date, time Software licenses (Dongle) Machine configurations Software versions of: o Visualization o CNC / SPS o Generator o Servo amplifier Network settings.7 Solvable error in the production program Whenever the machine runs in production mode is in case of a solvable error the L-spindle including cooling and generator switched off, as otherwise it would be switched off too late or not at all during the tool exchange..8 Eroding step check During the data transfer is controlled if an eroding program and eroding steps were entered. Program enhancement Grinding program 69/70 In grinding program 69/70 is the correction value in X (from the chart) no longer grinding angle-dependent, as otherwise the Z-position is too unprecise in case of very small cutting tip angles..2 Dressing programs In the dressing programs is now during the measuring drive after contact with the switch measuring head the speed reduced by a defined ramp.

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 32 Program enhancement path program 360 module. Specialties - The referencing of an A-swivel position can be made at any freely definable reference surface (this might also be a stop ring). Whenever an angle deviation is entered are all A-positions related to this reference surface displaced. - The measuring program should preferably be executed using a ball point measuring probe. - The contour must be available as machine-readable format in the defined server directory and be uploaded via the function key F6 during each program start. - During the initial upload are the layers of the DXF-file separated according to their names (number) and listed in the overview. - If set cutting tip beginnings/ends (in R or X direction) cross various times the uploaded contour is a chart stating the crossing points displayed. The desired crossing point can be selected in this chart. - Whenever the program is used without cutting tip end recognition are the entered values for the cutting tip beginning/end automatically applied. 2. Requirements regarding DXF-file Path contours must be available as DXF drawings and meet the following requirements: - The contour must be drawn as it should later on be applied by the cutting tool at the material. - Contours must be drawn in such a way that the machines can them later on apply without risk of collisions. The possible drive paths of all axes must be carefully considered. - The zero point of the coordinates systems can be freely selected. Whenever the contour is uploaded is the reference point automatically applied. - Each contour must be drawn on a separate layer. The name of the layer must be a number between and 8. Enter in the subsequently described data input fields the respective values und confirm each data input with the "ENTER" key.

Program enhancements Machine data directory Technical information Edition: 08/207 Software enhancements QXD250 Page 38 "Machine data" sub-directories are after the call-up of the respective tool no longer displayed in the Vollmer operating surface. The protocol can still be opened directly on the Windows surface..2 Dressing programs 577/578 Modification of the zero-point deletion for cases where the eroding disc isn't in the magazine but onto the spindle..3 Grinding program 69/70 Modification of the data input parameters..4 Concentricity measuring 45 The axis retraction subsequent to the measuring process is now only made with the Z-axis in order to avoid collisions..5 Control of the eroding data In the eroding programs is from now on already controlled during the data transfer if an eroding program and at least one eroding step have been set..6 Dressing program 570 In the dressing program 570 is the eroding disc from now on 4 times probed and to the highest measured value adapted. The value is displayed in the dressing program screen..7 Plunge processing in path programs The machining process of the third tooth has been corrected in path programs containing the plunge processing method..8 Modification of programs 39/40/239/240 The approach of the path start point (eroding start point) has been improved in the grinding programs 39/40 and in the eroding programs 239/240. Should due to the path a larger retraction path be necessary for the positioning towards the start point (passing of X-position larger than start position) is this now taken into consideration..8 Optimized display of values The display of reference values in service program 3, and the display of dressing data in the dressing programs, occurs now directly after their execution or else after the measuring process. Formerly it was sometimes necessary to open the screen page separately.

Software enhancements QXD250 Page 39.9 Measuring program 420 ExLevel Pro It occurred sometimes in measuring program 420 that subsequent to the execution of a left-hand-cutting program the length hasn't been taken over properly. This error has now been eliminated..9 Lamp test The control panel can button lamps can now be checked during the initial operation. By simultaneously pressing the upper/outmost placed white buttons ("Release tool carrier" and "Dielectric minus") must all buttons be illuminated. The machine must be switched off prior to this test. 2.0 Cooling device warning The cooling device warning on EM7 can toggle; e. g. if the filter is dirty. At the same time toggles the K629 as well. The K629 is from now on only restarted after the warning has been reset with "CLEAR". 2. Dressing in the P-system The dressing counter in program 370 of the P-system is now as in other programs divided into roughing/finishing.
