4 3 Fixed Wireless Systems Use Used for a wide range of different applications across a range of bands from 1.4 GHz to 86GHz: Trunking and long haul connections (lower traditional microwave bands) Wireless backhaul for mobile broadband Wireless infrastructure for a range of services including the Utilities, emergency services, broadcasters, CCTV for local authorities and more recently for the financial sector which leverage the low latency benefits of wireless fixed links. 8 7 70 / 80GHz ( E-Band ) UK Use Now seeing significant increasing use of E Band In less than 3 years the number of registrations in the Self Co-ordinated part of the band has quadrupled from around just fewer than 500 links to now over 2,000 links. Due to the short hop, high capacity nature of these links the majority of deployments are concentrated around cities and urban areas as shown in the figure opposite. E-Band Self Co-ordinated Links

10 9 New Work Items for WRC-19 WRC-19 agenda item 1.15 Identification of frequency bands for use by land mobile and fixed services applications in the frequency range GHz. Current international regulations allocations table covers up to 275GHz A number of bands within the range GHz are identified for use for passive services This agenda item aims to study identification of bands within the range GHz for fixed and land mobile services and associated sharing and compatibility issues

12 11 UK National Discussions Matters related to FWS Ofcom holds Fixed Wireless Industry Liaison Forum meetings (FWILF) usually held twice a year. FWILF meeting is designed to aid direct communication with Industry, provide updates on Ofcom policy and discuss new ideas / concepts. Thank you
