7 1. INTRODUCTI is an elecronic conroller for he for he complee and advanced managemen of sand-alone or muliplexed showcases or cold rooms, wih or wihou buil-in elecronic expansion valve driver. I is designed for DIN rail assembly and comes wih plug-in screw erminals. The conroller can manage a local Maser-Slave nework wih a a maximum of 6 unis (1 Maser and 5 Slaves). Each conroller can have is own display (read only) and/or user erminal (display plus keypad for programming), or alernaively he user erminal can be conneced o he Maser conroller which hen displays he parameers for all conrollers conneced in he nework. The plaform includes a wide range of models, differing in erms of ype of conroller (Maser or Slave), he number of relay oupus available (3 or 5 on he Slave conroller), he ype of probes ha can be conneced (NTC only and 0 o 5 V raiomeric or NTC/PTC/PT1000/NTC L243, 0 o 5 V raiomeric and acive 4 o 20 ma, 0 o 10 V), he ype of buil-in driver (for CAREL sepper or PWM elecronic expansion valve), wheher or no here are wo PWM oupus on he main board, and wheher or no here is a 0 o 10 Vdc oupu on he driver board. 8 has been designed o offer maximum insallaion flexibiliy and significan energy saving when fied wih he CAREL E2V or PWM elecronic expansion valve driver. I feaures 7 analogue inpus for probes and 5 digial inpus, configurable by parameer. The following probes can be used: sauraed evaporaion pressure and superheaed gas emperaure probe, required for superhea conrol, oule, inake and defros probe for showcase emperaure conrol, defros probe for he second evaporaor, wo auxiliary monioring probes, ambien emperaure probe, glass emperaure sensor and humidiy probe o preven he showcase windows from mising. In he laer case he PWM oupus can be used eiher o conrol he glass heaers or he evaporaor fans for air circulaion. If he sepper expansion valve is no used, a second defros probe can be insalled o manage he defros on a second evaporaor. The 5 digial oupus (relays) can conrol he compressor/ solenoid valve, evaporaor fans, defros, ligh and alarm. The digial inpus can be used for swiching beween day and nigh, including from ligh sensor, for he defros calls, for he door or curain swich or o acivae alarms. By creaing a Maser/Slave nework, a series of funcions can be coordinaed, such as defross, nework solenoid valve managemen, sharing of he pressure probe, and sharing of conrol saus. Example of applicaion on verical showcase: SV (opzionale) EEV Sm Sd E refrigeraion uni, synchronise evens over a LAN and connec o a CAREL or Modbus supervisory nework. Plasic spacers are provided for fiing he for elecronic valve driver (EEV) expansion board or he 0 o 10 Vdc oupu expansion board. Slave board (MX30S*****) Fig. 1.c Wihou clock (RTC) and RS485 card, hese can manage a refrigeraion uni wihou he supervisor and clock funcions. Slave boards can be convered ino Maser boards by fiing in place (see phoo) he RTC and RS485 inerface card (MX3OP48500) and seing a parameer (In). Available in version wih ulracap echnology o ensure he elecronic valve closing in he even of power failure o avoid he insallaion of liquid solenoid valve. RTC and RS485 inerface card (MX3OP48500) Opional card ha adds he clock (RTC) and RS485 inerface (CAREL and Modbus proocol) funcions o he Slave conrollers, making hem Maser conrollers. The user erminal includes he display and he keypad, feauring 4 buons ha, pressed alone or in combinaion, are used o program he conroller. The remoe display is used o show sysem variables. 10 USB/LAN converer (IROPZTLN00) Converer used o connec a personal compuer o an conroller using he special connecion available on he user erminals or remoe display and, wih he VPM program (Visual Parameer Manager), o complee he configuraion and commissioning operaions. VPM programming ool (Visual Parameer Manager) The program can be downloaded from hp://ksa.carel.com. Once running on he compuer he ool can be used o commission he conroller, edi he parameers and updae he firmware. The USB/LAN converer is required. Fig. 1.n USB/I2C converer (IROPZPRG00) Converer used o connec a personal compuer o an MXOPZKEYA0 programming key, so as, using he VPM program (Visual Parameer Manager), o read, edi and wrie he parameers. In urn he programming key can be used o program oher conrollers or read he parameers, for example o copy he parameer seings enered on he keypad of oher conrollers. Fig. 1.q Remoe conrol (IRTRMPX000) The remoe conrol is used for programming and commissioning he. See he chaper on User inerface. They herefore require an appropriae exernal power supply. Imporan: The ype of inpu conneced o each probe in he same group can be configured by jus one parameer. For each group 1(S1,S2,S3)-2(S4,S5)- 3(S6)-4(S7), here is jus one parameer ha defines he ype of inpu, and consequenly his mus be he same for all he probes in he same group. For group 2, S4 and S5 can be configured as probes ye operae as digial inpus. All he conacs should be galvanically insulaed by adding furher relays for each conac. The digial inpus mus no be conneced in parallel, oherwise he board may be damaged. 12

16 2.9 Insallaion For insallaion proceed as follows, wih reference o he wiring diagrams: 1. before performing any operaions on he conrol board, disconnec he main power supply by urning he main swich in he elecrical panel. Then remove he plasic side cover and/or he covers o make he elecrical connecions; 2. avoid ouching he conrol board, as elecrosaic discharges may damage he elecronic componens; 3. he index of proecion required for he applicaion mus be ensured by he manufacurer of he display case or by suiable assembly of he conroller; 4. connec any digial inpus, Lmax=10m; 5. connec he power cable o he valve moor: o find he secion or cable lengh, see erminals and connecions secion. 6. connec he acuaors: he acuaors should only be conneced afer having programmed he conroller. Carefully evaluae he maximum raings of he relay oupus as indicaed in Technical specificaions ; 7. program he conroller: see he chaper User inerface. 8. for he LAN connecion of he Maser/Slave nework and user inerfaces, use shielded cable and make sure: he maximum disance beween a conroller and is user erminal/ remoe display is 100 m (wih secion of cable no less han AWG22); he maximum disance beween he conrollers and he maximum lengh of he cable beween one conroller and anoher is 100 m (wih secion of cable no less han AWG22). Imporan: avoid insalling he conrollers in environmens wih he following characerisics: relaive humidiy greaer han he 90% or condensing; srong vibraions or knocks; exposure o coninuous waer sprays; exposure o aggressive and polluing amospheres (e.g.: sulphur and ammonia fumes, saline mis, smoke) o avoid corrosion and/or oxidaion; srong magneic and/or radio frequency inerference (avoid insalling he conrollers near ransmiing anennae); exposure of he conrollers o direc sunligh and o he elemens in general. Imporan: when connecing he conrollers, he following warnings mus be observed: incorrec connecion o he power supply may seriously damage he conroller; use cable ends suiable for he corresponding erminals. Loosen each screw and inser he cable ends, hen ighen he screws and lighly ug he cables o check correc ighness; separae as much as possible he probe and digial inpu cables from he power cables o he loads so as o avoid possible elecromagneic disurbance. Never lay power cables and probe cables in he same conduis (including hose in he elecrical panels); avoid insalling he probe cables in he immediae viciniy of power devices (conacors, circui breakers, ec.). Reduce he pah of he probe cables as much as possible and avoid enclosing power devices Programming key (copy se-up) Imporan: he key mus be used wih he conroller off and wih he RS485 serial line disconneced from he. The MXOPZKEYA0/IROPZKEYA0 programming key is used o copy he complee se of parameers. The key mus be plugged ino he connecor (4 pin AMP) on he conrollers (wih he conroller powered down). Noe: MXOPZKEYA0 can only be used on wih firmware versions >= 2.1 (wih max. 6 ses of parameers); IROPZKEYA0 can only be used on wih firmware versions <=1.2 (wih max. 2 ses of parameers). The firmware version of he can be idenified as follows: 1. on he label applied o he rear of he insrumen. The second par of he revision number represens he firmware version (e.g. Rev means firmware revision 2.6). This info is valid only if he has never been updaed by he user; 2. on he erminal display. When powering up he, he erminal displays he firmware revision (e.g. r 2.6) for a couple of seconds; 3. using he VPM or from he supervisor (Ineger variable 11: Firmware release). Official versions available are 1.0, 1.1, , 2.2, 2.6, 2.8. By seing he wo dipswiches (accessible when removing he cover), he programming key can run he following funcions: UPLOAD. Load he parameers from a conroller o he key (see Fig. 2.p): he key acquires all he parameers available on he conroller; DOWNLOAD. Copy from he key o a conroller (see Fig.2.q): he key only ransfers he operaing parameers o he conneced conroller; EXTENDED DOWNLOAD. Exended copy from he key o a conroller (see Fig.2.r): he key ransfers all he parameers (operaing and uni) o he conneced conroller. Imporan: he copy and exended copy of parameers can only be performed beween compaible insrumens, ha is, wih he same or higher firmware revision (e.g. copy from 2.2 o 2.4, no vice-versa). The UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD and EXTENDED DOWNLOAD funcions are performed as follows: a. open he rear cover of he key and se he wo dipswiches based on he desired operaion; b. close he cover, power up he key and plug he key ino he connecor on he conroller; c. press and hold he buon unil he red LED flashed briefly, afer around 5-10 s (he buon can sill be held). When he buon is released, he LED says on red unil he end of he operaion, which may las up o a maximum of 45 sec. The operaion is compleed successfully when he green LED comes on. Wih he buon released, he green LED goes off afer around 2 seconds. 18 2.12 Seing he defaul parameers/loading he parameer ses Inroducion Seven differen ses of parameers are saved in he memory. Se 0, called he working se, conains he se of parameers used by during normal operaion. This se is loaded whenever is sared, and he parameers can be modified a any ime from he erminal, supervisor, remoe conrol, VPM and programming key. The oher six ses of parameers, numbered 1 o 6, conain oher liss of parameers, preloaded by CAREL during producion, which can be copied as desired o he working se (Se 0). These ses of parameers, unlike Se 0, can only be modified using he programming key and he VPM. The ses of parameers, once differeniaed by he manufacurer of he uni, can be loaded so as o rapidly se a lis of parameers, wih corresponding values, o conrol he refrigeraion sysem. Parameer ses from 1 o 6 can be modified as follows: 1. copy he parameers from o he programming key MXOPZKEYA0 (UPLOAD); 2. read he parameers saved on he programming key using VPM; 3. selec he se and modify he parameers using VPM. For each parameer, he value, visibiliy, enabling o copy from Maser o Slave, and configurabiliy a firs sar-up can all be se; 4. wrie he parameers o he programming key using VPM; 5. copy he parameers from he programming key o (DOWNLOAD). See paragraph Noe: when copying he parameers from he key o and vice-versa, mus no be powered; o read/wrie he parameers on he key using VPM, he converer code IROPZPRG00 is required. 19 3. USER INTERFACE The fron panel of he user erminal (IR00UG****) includes he display and he keypad, feauring 4 buons ha, pressed alone or in combinaion, are used o program he conroller. 21 3.3 Programming The parameers can be modified using he fron keypad. Access differs according o he ype: Frequen (F), configuraion (C) and advanced (A) parameers. The ype of parameer is indicaed in he able parameers. Access o he configuraion and advanced parameers is proeced by a password ha prevens unwaned modificaions by unauhorised people. The password for he advanced parameers also allows access o all he conrol parameers; his operaion mus only be performed by qualified personnel. Selec nework uni (Maser) If using a user erminal conneced direcly o he Maser conroller, his funcion can be used o choose he desired uni. The upload aribue can only be se for he parameers using he VPM program (Visual Parameer Manager). This procedure can be used insead of he programming key, wih he advanage of being able o updae all he Slave boards in he subnework a he same ime, wihou powering down he conrollers and wihou overwriing he parameers ha should no be modified, such as he serial address, he clock parameers, ec. raher han having o repea he procedure individually for each board wih he programming key. Procedure: 1. press Prg/mue and Se ogeher for more han 5 seconds (if here are acive alarms he buzzer is mued): he display shows he number 0 flashing; 2. press UP or DOWN and ener he PASSWORD: 66. As well as he radiional remoe keypad, i feaures a series of funcions used o override he saus of he oupus and inpus, so as o compleely es he connecions and he operaion of he applicaion. Acivaing he remoe conrol Synch: enable he use of he remoe conrol;esc: disable he Esc use of he remoe conrol. Afer pressing Synch, each device displays is value of parameer H3: remoe conrol enable code, if no null. The Synch numeric keypad can be used o specify he code of he insrumen in quesion, so as o avoid inerference wih he oher devices.. 23

Imporan: overriding he saus of he solenoid oupu may cause he acivaion of he fan oupus, depending on he configuraion of he fan parameers (see configuraion parameers F0 and F2). Commands area: override digial-analogue oupus and digial inpus. This secion can be used o override all he oupus on he, boh digial and analogue, as well as he digial inpus. When scrolling he menus, he display shows which variable is currenly virualised by swiching on he spanner icon. The override of any variable can be disabled individually by briefly pressing (1 sec) he Resore ALL buon corresponding o he specific variable. From he main menu, pressing and holding (5 sec) he Resore ALL buon disables all he acive overrides. 24

25 E 2 V area: override posiion of he elecronic expansion valve In his secion, he posiion of he elecronic expansion valve can be conrolled manually. As in he oher cases, he override funcion is acivaed by pressing he buon once. When pressing one of he buons, he display shows he posiion reached for 3 seconds, hen resumes he display of he previous variable, o allow he posiion of he valve o be changed and hen immediaely observe he resul. Specifically, he various buons have he following funcions: I / cyclically open/close he expansion valve 0 compleely, each command is signalled on he display by he message OPn, if he valve is opening, Res. E 2 V I / 0 Open/Close + +10sp/+5% 0-10sp/-5% E 2 V + or CLo if he valve is closing, for 3 seconds; increase he posiion of he valve. The effec depends on he ype of valve configured. For E 2 V sepper valves, each ime he buon is pressed he posiion of he valve increases by 10 seps, while for PWM valves i increases by 5%; decrease he posiion of he valve. As above, for E 2 V sepper valves he posiion decreases by 10 seps, while for PWM i decreases by 5%; Res E 2 V: pressed for 5 seconds, resores he normal operaion of he elecronic valve. This buon is used o disable he override on he elecronic expansion valve only. Disabling he overrides The remoe conrol can disable he overrides in four differen ways: wih he Resore ALL buon Pressed briefly (1 sec) from he main menu: disables he overrides of he digial oupus in he Oupus secion Pressed briefly (1 sec) from he Commands menu: disables he override on each individual variable Pressed and held (5 sec) from he main menu: compleely disables all he overrides wih he Res. E 2 V buon Pressed and held (5 s): disables he override on he elecronic valve only (E 2 V or PWM) 25

COMMISSIING 4.1 Configuraion Once he elecrical connecions have been compleed (see he chaper on Insallaion) and he power supply has been conneced, he operaions required for commissioning he conroller depend on he ype of inerface used, however essenially involve seing he so-called iniial configuraion parameers. See he guided commissioning procedure. 1. MXOPZKEYYA0 / IROPZKEYA0 (firmware 1.x) programming key. can be configured using programming keys ha have hemselves been programmed. In his case, simply plug he key ino he connecor. The operaion mus be performed wih he conroller off. Afer loading he parameers he conroller can be sared. 2. Commissioning ool sofware, VPM. This procedure is used o program and es he operaion of he from a PC during commissioning when saring he sysem. In paricular, his mehod is used o: se he values, visibiliy and aribues of all he parameers (including uni parameer); compleely program a key; during sar-up, monior and manually override all he inpus/ oupus; updae he firmware. The commissioning ool can be conneced from he PC via: a: a dedicaed por available on some user erminals/remoe displays AUX Terminal IR00UGC300 IR00XGC300 LAN IROPZTNL00 USB/LAN converer commissioning cable USB PC 4.2 Recommended iniial configuraion feaures highly configurable inpus and oupus. CAREL in any case recommends he basic configuraion following he defaul seings of he parameers. By following his suggesion, he conroller can independenly manage he main funcions in mos applicaions, wihou having o significanly modify he seings of he parameers. The special configuraion menu is only displayed on he user erminal, consequenly one needs o be conneced if he funcion is no disabled (avoiding conflics in he nework/lan or reurn of liquid refrigeran o he compressor). Only afer having se all he required parameers can normal configuraion be performed. 4. Remoe conrol. When firs sared, his can be used o direcly configure he criical parameers wihou needing o acivae he synchronizaion funcion (synch buon). The defaul configuraion also involves hese hree probes being sandard CAREL NTC. However, oher ypes of probes can be conneced by seing parameer /P1, if he produc code allows ha. On he defaul seings can be changed o choose he funcion associaed wih any of he probes conneced. There are also cases where he characerisics of he applicaions require differen seings. Examples: Conrol inside a cold room is normally performed using jus wo emperaure probes, in paricular he inake emperaure is no read. In his case, he possible configuraion may be: /FA=1: oule emperaure on probe S1 (Sm=S1); /Fb=2: defros emperaure on probe S2 (Sd=S2); /Fc=0: no inake emperaure; Alernaively: /FA=1: oule emperaure on probe S1 (Sm=S1); /Fb=3: defros emperaure on probe S3 (Sd=S3); /Fc=0: no inake emperaure. Noe: acivaion of he coninuous cycle on he Maser means all he dependen Slave observe he compressor managemen imes of he Maser conroller (only parameer cc on he Maser has an effec, while he values se on he Slaves are ignored). This operaing mode is only highlighed on he Maser user erminal, as he Slave conrollers ignore he Maser conrol mode. This means ha a Slave conroller serving he Maser, even in he coninuous cycle, manages he user inerface as if i were in normal conrol (compressor icon on during cooling reques and off when no reques). In paricular, /c1 o /c3 are used o increase or decrease he values read by he physical probes conneced o he inpus S1, S2, S3, if configured as emperaure probes. Parameer /ce, on he oher hand, correcs he value of he sauraed evaporaion emperaure calculaed direcly based on he evaporaion pressure. The serial probes canno be calibraed, while he probes shared wih he Maser are calibraed by he Maser. T2 Share conrol saus This funcion is used o saisfy he needs of cold rooms or showcases wih muliple evaporaors, where he Slaves are essenially used as expansions for he managemen of differen elecronic valves. This funcion shares he Maser conrol saus across he LAN nework. In his way, he Maser deermines he conrol saus, and each Slave operaes as a consequence, wihou consider he parameers se locally. This means Slave conrollers can be used wihou oule and inake probes. If he Slave conroller is no accessible from he Maser, duy seing operaing mode mus be acivaed, seing he corresponding parameer c4 >0. Acivaion: o acivae sharing of he conrol saus, se /FA = 0 and /Fc = 0 on he conrollers Slave. 32 5.2 Digial inpus Inroducion manages up o 5 physical digial inpus and one virual digial inpu. Of hese, as already menioned, DI1, DI2, DI3, DI4 are analogue/ digial inpus, configured as digial inpus by heir respecive parameers A4, A5, A10, A11, while DI5 is only a digial inpu and can be configured using parameer A12. See he general connecion diagram in paragraph 2.8. The virual digial inpu is a funcion whereby he saus of a digial inpu is propagaed via LAN from Maser o Slave. This is useful, for example, for a curain swich, allowing swiching from day o nigh saus and viceversa wihou having o connec addiional wiring from he Maser o he Slaves. The virual digial inpu can be configured from he supervisor or he Maser, based on he seing of parameer A9 (only seable on he Maser). A physical inpu on he Maser can be associaed wih he virual digial inpu on he Maser, o be propagaed o he Slaves. This is some using a parameer, eiher A4, A5, A10, A11 or A12 (based on he seing of A9) se on he Maser, and parameer A8 se on he Slave. See he advanced parameers explained in paragraph 6.2. Noe: if he conac is open while a defros is in progress, his is immediaely sopped, he defros icon flashes on he display indicaing he defros call is acive (his sars again when he conac closes); his funcion may be useful o preven defross on conrollers exposed o he public during sore opening hours, and o be able o perform special ho gas defross. 4 = Defros call The closing of he digial conac sars he defros, if enabled. In he even of Maser Slave nework connecion, if he conroller is he Maser, he defros will be a nework defros, while if i is a Slave, i will only be a local defros. The defros digial inpu can be used effecively o perform real ime defross. Simply connec a imer o he mulifuncion digial inpu on he Maser and use d5 o delay he defross on he various Slaves and hus avoid curren overloads.
