7 1 - INTRODUCTION MODCVI The MODCVI is a self-contained module used to control 2 fastening tools (portable or fixed electric power tools). It is the rackable version of the TWINCVI. Although it does not have any keyboard or display, it offers all the functionalities of the TWINCVI. A standard ISaGRAF programme is integrated in the MODCVI to handle the input/ output and the various peripherals. The user can create or modify the existing programme to adapt it to his/her application. A PC is connected to the MODCVI: - on a temporary basis for the programming, the downloading of the parameters and the retrieval of tightening results. - on a permanent basis to display its operation process in real time. Up to 16 MODCVI can be network-connected to the PC = N I F A * = I This configuration forms a simple multiple station. Like the TWINCVI, the MODCVI can be connected to various peripherals: - parallel printer to print the tightening results in order of occurrence. - remote display to display the results. - PLC via the all or nothing Input/Output, or in industrial protocol network such as UniTelway, MODBUS, or any other. Mechanical features Overall size (mm) Width 230 Height 372 Depth 359 Weight 9 Kg Secured by means of 4 screws on the back of the rear panel of a cabinet MODCVI MULTICVI
8 1.2 - MULTICVI The MULTICVI is a synchronous multispindle station. It consists of the following: - from 2 to 16 MODCVI-M modules identical to the MODCVI, which control 2 tightening spindles. - 1 CPUCVI module, which controls all the MODCVI-M and provides the interface with the external peripherals (PC, PLC, bar code reader)., C A 1 J A H =? Important: the electric current values are indicated for a synchronous 2-channel MODCVI. The equipment must include the following (see diagram 2.2.2): Magnetothermal circuit breaker (not supplied): 230V/6A or 115/V/10A Curve C. e.g. : GV2-P14 Télémécanique. 10 Installation Guidelines and Directives To comply with the EMC directives, it is necessary to wire the MODCVI in a cabinet, complying with the following recommendations: Input filter If the installation includes a transformer, insert a three-phase filter (Schaffner type FN351) on the secondary supply line of the mains transformer of the servodrives. The filter should be located as close as possible to the transformer, on a metal surface connected to earth. If the installation directly uses the mains supply, insert a three-phase filter (Schaffner type FN251) in the mains supply. The filter should be located as close as possible to this voltage supply, on a metal surface connected to earth. Dimensioning of the filter For the dimensioning of the filter, take as a basis 3Aeff per channel in three-phase 230V and 6 Aeff per channel in three-phase 115V. Multiply this value by the number of channels to obtain the nominal amperage of the filter. General Guidelines Shielded cables will be used for all the connnections between the filter and the servodrives. Where the cables are run through an electrical component (contactor, circuit-breaker ), connect the shielding to the earth through the shortest possible path, using an earthing rod. On the servodrive side, the shielding will be directly plated on the live part of the printed circuit. It is also necessary to shield the 230V feeding cable of the control part if it is run next to other disturbing cables. Note that an input filter is integrated in the MODCVI for this control part. Connect the shielding of the torque measuring cables to the earth of the cabinet (as they enter the cabinet). This connection can be achieved by stripping the cable over a short length and fastening it with a clip on an earthing rod. The previous operation is not necessary for the motor cables. However, it will be important to make a direct contact between the shielding of the motor cable and the live part of the printed circuit. 11 Rotary Switches The rotary switches are used to determine the network address of the module for the PC network. Value from 0 to 255 (0 to FF in hexadecimal notation). RC1: least significant hexadecimal digit (LSD) RC2: most significant hexadecimal digit (MSD) Caution: each time parameters are changed, switch off then switch on MODCVI. In a MULTICVI system, rotary switches are used to indicate the MODCVI-M number from 0 to N (See section 1.2 in this manual) Switch SW6 The switch is used to configure the RS1 and RS2 serial links. 12 * ) Connection of Electric Power Tools / ; / / ; ) > , A J= E Electric Tightening Tools The MODCVI automatically recognises the tool features by reading the tool built-in memory: serial number, tool type, sensitivity, nominal load and gear ratio. The cables of the tools are described at the end of this manual. The portable electric power tools are connected via the standard cable to which an extension cord is added. The Y-shaped extension cord is connected to connectors J14 and J10 A and B for channel 1 and to connectors J15 and J9 A and B for channel 2. The fixed electric power tools are fitted with two cables: - The Y-shaped motor cable is connected to J14 (channel 1) or J15 (channel 2) for the motor phases part and to J10A (channel 1) or J9A (channel 2) for the resolver part. - The torque cable is connected to connector J10B (channel 1) or J9B (channel 2) Emergency Stop Connector Connector J23 allows you to connect an external emergency stop button. If not used, short-circuit the 2 hubs of J23. When opening the contact, the servodrive is switched off. In a MULTICVI system, the emergency stop connector of the MODCVI is not used. MODCVI MULTICVI

16 Input/Output Connector (16 input connections/16 output connections) The MODCVI is fitted with one Input/Output connector per channel. Input Description All input connections are optocoupled and active at 1 (24 Volts). The current consumed per input is 10mA. - cycle number: binary coding Cycles are numbered from 1 to 31 (31 cycles per channel). - cycle start: the cycle runs as long as the signal is at 1. When the signal drops, the cycle stops and the report is sent to the PLC. 8, E= C H= B= 8 F J? Connection between controllers, Caution: the 0 Volts of the Input/Output connectors of each controller are connected to each other. All the other signals (cycle number, on,...) should be connected to each module. 8, + 8 1, MODCVI MULTICVI
22 5 - MULTICVI The MULTICVI consists of several MODCVIs -according to the number of connected tools- and a CPUCVI module to provide the interface between the PLC, the PC and the control modules. The CPUCVI is the system intelligence: it fully controls the tightening sequence, centralises the controls and controls the MODCVI modules CPUCVI Rack description A J M H A I I = E F M A H IKFF O F = H = A E I 4 5 ) F = H = A F H J * A A H C A? The RS2 connector is used for the connection with the PC. MODCVI MULTICVI
23 CPUCVI Input/Output - the input/output of the channel 1 of the CPUCVI are identical to those of the channel 1 of the MODCVI, except for the spindle validation and external stop input connections which are configured per spindle and therefore available on each MODCVI-M. - the input/output of the channel 2 are available in particular for an ISaGRAF application. 1 F K J K J F K J? The autotest cycle allows you to test the rotation of the tool and more specifically to check that: - the prevailing torque is lower than the programmed maximum torque setting - the rotation angle ranges between the programmed minimum and maximum angle settings As for any other cycle, the automatic zero correction and the unbalance test are performed at the beginning of the cycle. The autotest cycle usually includes only one final speed phase.
