DPR (Driving Point Residue) algorithm is used to locate optimum shaker location and orientation. DPR indicates how well all modes are excited by a potential reference location. Although initial inspection might lead us to assume this is good correlation, further analysis yields a different conclusion Correlation of fundamental modes does not guarantee correlation throughout operating frequency band Higher order modes are relevant to acoustic, vibration, and durability performance they are well within the operating frequency range Ignoring higher order mode correlation could lead to bad engineering decisions, for example: - Poor Exhaust Hangar locations leading to Noise and Vibration Issues - Vibration fatigue due to Engine or Road excitation at resonant frequencies CONCLUSION: All modes in operating frequency band should be correlated!
