3 KN 53 Navigation Receiver Fast And Accurate With this TSO d system, tuning your radio including all 200 VOR/LOC channels, from to MHz along with a built-in 40 channel Glideslope receiver is fast and accurate. The KN 53 is the perfect fit for pilots who want a panel comprising separate avionics components. Operating on any DC current from 11 to 33 volts, it can be interfaced with either the KI 204, KI 209 or KI 209A using the VOR LOC converter indicators. Additionally, it will operate an HSI such as our KI 525A with a remote KN 72 VOR/LOC converter. The KN 53 also provides output to automatic channeling of DME system and a composite VOR output signal to operate a KI 229 RMI. Useful Features KN 53 offers innovative frequency storage capability. For example, the flip flop NAV pre-select feature allows you to store one frequency in the standby display while operating on another, and then switch between the two instantly with the touch of a button. Having both frequencies displayed at all times gives you immediate reference to the stored channel. In addition, both frequencies are stored in a special circuit component that doesn t require battery power. The unit remembers your selected NAVV frequencies, even through shutdowns of momentary power interruptions. About The KN 53 Power Switch This knob controls ON/OFF/FOL/IDENT. Rotation of this control also adjusts NAV signal volume. The NAV voice can be heard when the knob is pushed in. When the knob is pulled out, the IDENT signal plus voice can be heard. Frequency Selection By rotating the concentric frequency selector knobs either clockwise or counterclockwise, you can dial your desired operating frequency into the standby display window. Use the larger knob to change the MHz portion of the frequency display, and the smaller knob to change khz values. NAV Frequency Operation The desired operating frequency if first entered into the standby display. To activate, push the transfer button to interchange the frequencies in the use and standby display and turn the receiver to the new operating frequency. The Look Of Control The KN 53 navigation receiver is styled to match our entire line of Silver Crown Plus avionics. The contemporary faceplate is designed for easy operation. The added backlighting of the bezel nomenclature, knobs and buttons helps you make fast and accurate frequency changes, especially during night flights. 4 KN 62A & KN 64 DME Systems The KN 62A and KN 64 DME Systems display the flight information you need including simultaneous DME distance, groundspeed and time to-station, as well as, DME distance and internally selected frequency. These robust systems operate on any DC voltage from 11 to 33 without adapters or power converters. What s more their modest power requirements mean there s no need for external cooling.* Trusted Technology These self-contained, 200-channel systems, with their powerful solid state transmitters, provide you with search and lock-on in about a second. What s more, both the KN 62A and KN 64 can be channeled remotely through almost any NAV receiver, or tuned directly with their own frequency selection knobs. They even have duel channeling capability, making two DME frequencies available to you at all times one remote, with one stored internally. So what you have, in effect, is a functional DME HOLD mode. Easy As 1, 2, 3 The KN 62A and KN 64 provide no-worry operation. A three-position function switch makes these systems extremely simple to use, putting all the information you need and want at your fingertips. Position one: Frequency (FRQ) mode DME displays distance and the selected frequency. You can channel the unit internally using the two concentric frequency knobs. Position two: Groundspeed/Time-to- Station (GS/T) DME holds the internally selected frequency while displaying distance, groundspeed and time-tostation. The Frequency Hold feature in this mode protects you from accidental re-channeling when the frequency is not displayed. Position three: Remote** (RMT) DME channels when you select your NAV frequency on the NAV receiver. When the unit locks on to a ground station, it displays distance, groundspeed and time-to-station. While it searches before it locks, you ll see only dashes on the display. 7 KT 76A Panel-Mounted Transponder Proven Performance And Leadership The KT 76A has established a worldwide reputation as the standard in Mode A/Mode C identification. Since its introduction, more than 165,000 KT 76 and KT 76A transponders have been installed worldwide. The KT 76A is a Class 1A transponder providing maximum performance at altitudes up to 35,000 feet. This compact unit was among the first of our avionics to incorporate Large Scale Integrated (LSI) circuitry, reducing both weight and power requirements. And today, its design efficiency and rugged construction offer a near-ideal balance of performance, reliability and value. A Closer Look All Mode A and Mode C transponders perform the same functions: replying to radar interrogations, providing Air Traffic Control (ATC) with positive identification, and showing your ground speed on the controller s radar monitor. With an encoding altimeter or blind encoder, the transponder can also transmit altitude. The KT 76A combines an extra-rigid, durable switchboard with easy access to all components. Unlike other transponders the 76A can be opened like a book to expose every part and printed circuit board significantly reducing maintenance costs and downtime. Inside the KT 76A, solder masked printed circuit boards provide trouble-free connections and ensure that all leads are fully insulated, protecting against overheating of components during manufacturing. While other transponder manufacturers solder their LSI chips in place, the KT 76A s encoder and decoder functions are programmed into a plug-in LSI chip, making repair as simple as pulling out one chip and replacing it with a new one. While the IDENT button is readily accessible on the front of the faceplate, a remote button can also be installed in an even more convenient location, such as the control yoke, to reduce pilot workload during busy approaches or departures. It is this attention to detail that makes the KT 76A one of the most successful transponders in general aviation history. 8 KT 76C Panel-Mounted Transponder The Value Of Reliability In today s complex airspace environment, a transponder is simply a necessity. Both Air Traffic Control (ATC) and other TCASequipped aircraft rely on transponder replies to determine your position. The Bendix/King KT 76C transponder is a radio transmitter/receiver which operates on radar frequencies. Receiving ground radar interrogations at 1030 MHz, it returns a coded response of pulses to ground based radar or airborne TCAS receivers on a frequency of 1090 MHz. As with other Mode A/Mode C transponders, the KT 76C replies with one of 4,096 codes, which differ in the position and number of pulses transmitted. By replying to interrogations, your KT 76C enables ATC and TCAS computers to display your aircraft s identification, altitude and ground speed on display screens. When the IDENT button is pressed, your aircraft will be positively identified to Air Traffic Control. To ensure the visibility of your aircraft, both now and in the foreseeable future, we built the KT 76C to pass the rigorous Highly Accelerated Lifecycle Testing (HALT) program, subjecting it to rapid extremes of temperature, vibration and G-loading. Whatever your flying regimen, the KT 76C has already been there and demonstrated it will keep working. The Value Of Experience Combining state-of-the-art technology with ease of use, the KT 76C is the first panel-mounted Mode A/C transponder to offer such features as sequential pushbutton squawk/code entry. Pressing a single button lets you switch to any preset VFR code you choose. It operates with both 14- and 28-volt electrical systems and its extensive backlighting and bright gas discharge display make it easy to read in all light levels. The KT 76C drops directly into the same space as an existing KT 76A* and readily fits most stacks to replace other transponders. Although cooling air isn t required, an optional forced-air inlet has been included to further extend service life. Matching our other Silver Crown Plus avionics, the KT 76C features a contemporary look. However, more than just style, the contemporary design helps improve the ergonomics and makes this transponder easier to operate. Backlighting of the bezel nomenclature and knobs is standard, speeding recognition and making night flying even easier. The use of ergonomic, highreliability pushbuttons ease pilot workload. A high-visibility gas plasma display presents the selected code and pressure altitude. Automatic, microprocessor controlled display dimming ensures readability under all cockpit conditions, from bright sunlight to total darkness.
