1 Introducing the D-Link Wi-Fi Planner PRO The D-Link Wi-Fi Planner PRO (WFP) is Ready for Partners - and it s FREE The Wi-Fi Planner PRO is a pre-sales tool to be used in planning WLAN projects. The intelligent algorithm behind the Wi- Fi Planner PRO can provide a visual simulation of RF signals for all D-Link s WLAN products. Moreover, partners can save all the planning proposals of different WLAN projects in the cloud. It is available to all D-Link partners, absolutely free. D-Link Partners can access this tool from vipplus.dlink.com. Designed for Pre-Sales This handy tool is designed for the pre-sale stage and is useful for all sales and pre-sales participating in Wi-Fi planning. Instead of carrying actual Access Points (APs) in planning for WLAN projects, the Wi-Fi Planner PRO gives a comprehensive visualisation that parallels the Wi-Fi environment prior to the actual deployment. The Wi-Fi Planner PRO comes with a wizard to help in planning the WLAN projects by recommending the appropriate number of Access Points, their placement and also has a HeatMap to illustrate the RF signal strength based on the input criteria such as the constraints of the environment. If granular adjustment is needed, it could be manually altered as well. 2 3 Simple Steps for Wi-Fi Planner PRO The Wi-Fi Planner PRO is quick and easy to use. With a few clicks, upload a floor plan and add a scale, the tool will calculate and deliver an advisory on the AP deployment. Step 1: Upload and Scale a Floor Plan Upload a picture of the Wi-Fi planned project either by obtaining the floor plan from the customer or alternatively, drawing a simple floor plan. The measurement of the floor plan is needed for the Wi-Fi Planner PRO to be in the right scale. Step 2: Set the Wi-Fi Coverage Define the Coverage and the Exclusion Zone.

3 Step 3: AP Placement Advisory The AP Placement Advisory will provide a suggestion on the number of AP s and the AP placement that are needed for the Wi-Fi planning. The Wi-Fi signal strength for the entire area will be illustrated in the HeatMap as well. More about Wi-Fi Planner PRO Setting Obstacles Obstacles such as elevators or brick walls will typically diminish Wi-Fi signals. Thus, adding different types of obstacles such as dry walls, metal doors, etc. to the floor plan as to mimic the actual deployment environment is important in the planning stage. 4 Flexibility in the APs and Antennas Further to the AP Placement Advisory, to better address the needs of each individual WLAN project, the Wi-Fi Planner PRO can manually add and/or adjust APs and/or antennas, change configurations of antenna, or revise location and properties of the AP and/or antenna. Generating Report The comprehensive report can be downloaded in both WORD and PDF format for sales and pre-sales to customise and share with their clients to review and to follow-up. 5 Before Using the Wi-Fi Planner PRO Please be aware of the following considerations and guidance: Considerations The floor is flat and has the same surface level. The APs are in the relative similar horizontal height of the Wi-Fi client. The environment does not have existing RF interference. The AP on different floors do not influence each other and thus the RF interference from floors nearby is ignored. Only the air, obstacles and area attenuation is considered - influence from plants and people is ignored. Guidance Please note the result generated from the Wi-Fi Planner PRO is just a simulation of the Wi-Fi planning before the actual deployment. It should NOT be used to replace the actual survey after the deployment. The Wi-Fi Planner PRO is NOT suitable for outdoor environment or indoor environment with distinct floor surface levels. The simulation is NOT accurate if AP is installed on the roof of high-ceiling building such as warehouses and/or halls.
