New data from Scarborough paints a convincing picture of radio as the leading reach vehicle for persons aged After declining from 94% reach in the Money Demo in 2008 to about 91% in 2010, 2011 and 2012, radio s reach bounced back to 94.3% in the newly issued 2013 Scarborough USA+ report. That puts it ahead of broadcast TV, non-premium cable, internet and newspapers. 6 Laura Waluszko Born in Northwest Indiana, Laura s a graduate of River Forest High School (home of the Ingots) and got her bachelor s degree from Purdue and a master s from Indiana University [we think she roots for both even when they play each other]. Her work has won several awards from the Indiana Broadcasters Association, Society of Professional Journalists/Indiana Chapter, and Network Indiana. She dedicates her day to providing the most up-to-date information to the listeners of The Region! Brent Brown Brent was born and raised in Michigan, just outside the Port Huron area. After earning an Associate s Degree from St. Clair County Community College and a broadcasting degree from Specs Howard School of Media Arts, he has spent the last 6 years working at radio stations in Michigan, Illinois, and now Indiana. When he s not focusing his efforts on bringing you the region s news, Brent enjoys rooting for all of his favorite Detroit sports teams, as well as watching movies and slapping his bass guitar. Scott Rosenberg Scott Rosenberg is a born-and-raised Region native. He s lived in Hammond, Griffith, Gary, Valparaiso, Portage and Hobart, so he knows the Region well. That knowledge includes the Region s roads, which is very handy when commuters need traffic reports that will help them navigate around trouble spots. Scott graduated from Portage High School and has a Bachelors Degree from Purdue University. He s been a media professional in Northwest Indiana since Jay Stevens Jay Stevens reports from around the Region on events of interest to Northwest Indiana. Jay gives the information you need to know with local newscasts that focus on the region. He also shares fun things you and your family can do in the area. Steve met his wife Colleen on the radio. They have two sons and four grandchildren. When not on-air, Steve and his wife spend their free time with the Valparaiso Theatrical Company which helps raise money for non-profit organizations in the region. Annie Fox (3p - p) Annie was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. After spending some time out of the area chasing the radio dream she has moved back to start a family with her two main men: Jager the mutt and fiance Rob. When she is not on the air Annie enjoys cheering her favorite Chicago sports teams, hiking, and exploring new fairs and festivals! 13 Personalities Mike Shaw (5a - 9a) Mike has been working in radio and television for nearly 40 years. Mike not only loves radio & TV he s also a huge fan of music! He s got a huge record and CD collection (much to his wife s dismay) along with the best sounding state-of the-art audio equipment. Mike s also an active runner and a biker, and just loves being outdoors. JJ McKay (9a - 2p) JJ has been working in radio and television in a full or part-time capacity since 1977 when she graduated from Ohio University with a BSC in Radio/TV/Journalism. JJ enjoys doing mobile DJ gigs since she can engage the crowd in a live atmosphere & see everyone smiling while having so much fun! She also loves spending time hanging out with her pets as well as hiking, alone or with her significant other. Jay Fox (2p - 7p) Jay has enjoyed playing the hits for 4 decades now. He is so driven by music and the history of Rock & Roll, he loves to play music trivia with anyone willing to play. (Hint: He knows his stuff!) Married for 31 years to his lovely bride Regina, their children have grown and gone on to very successful careers themselves. A volunteer with the fire dept. and rabid baseball fan, his secret goal in life is to visit every ballpark in America to rate how nice the parking lots are. He s recently been elected Mayor of Rock & Roll Radio by his 27 fans who have never met him but like his voice. (If they only knew) Scott O Brien (7p - 12a) Scott literally grew two inches in one day at age 15, when doctors straightened a curve in his spine and took him from 5 11 to 6 1. The extra height and his deep voice helped him land a radio job while only a high school junior. By 20 he was on the air in Chicago. Scott is into history and golf, books and movies, and music ranging from Steely Dan to Maroon 5 and Sinatra. He d like to see the Broncos in the Super Bowl again and the Cubs win the World Series. (It s good to dream big!) Kent Richards (12a - 5a) Kent s love of music, the entertainment industry, and electronics has made his 30+ years in radio less of a job and more of a fun hobby. He s also a big fan of most sports as a spectator & a player, keeps up on the latest in cars & planes, can t get enough of any cool new technology or gadget, and loves to relax with a good book. Kent s especially proud of his four beautiful children and the exciting paths they ve taken with their lives.
