2 Why should we measure CO2? 3 According to NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) concentrations of 40000ppm or higher should be regarded as immediately dangerous to life and health. Exposure to very high concentrations (eg. Exposure to 6% volume CO2 for several minutes or 30% volume CO2 for seconds), has been linked to permanent heart damage. Concentrations greater than 10% are capable of causing loss of consciousness within 15 minutes or less.

4 Briefing introduction The most widely used technique for real-time measurement of carbon dioxide is by means of non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensors that measure CO2 as a function of the absorbance of infrared light at a specific wavelength. NDIR CO2 sensor module is a unit which offers high performance detection and measurement of CO2 concentration at low cost.

5 By application of DC voltage to the module, an analog output voltage proportional to CO2 concentration can be obtained. All units are factory calibrated to measure CO2 concentration levels up to 2000ppm.
