By combining a single turn angle detection and a separate turn detection this sensor is able to measure angles across multiple turns providing high resolution and accuracy. Due to the facts that the sensor can detect turns in unpowered state and that the sensor does store turns non volatile, it is a real true power on angle sensor in a very compact size. The sensor works internally magnetic and hereby contactless and serves a very long life time. By using contactless technology the sensor has a high resistance against mechanical influences like shock, vibration etc. The housing is made of a special high grade temperature resistant plastic material. Fixings are in the form of elongated slots which allow simplicity in mounting together with ease of mechanical adjustment. The special backlash-free push-on coupling ensures extremely quick and easy installation. The transducer is not sensitive to either dirt or dampnes. Electrical connection is made via a shielded cable which is potted into the housing. With the RSM2800 for the first time a compact and contactless solution can be provided that makes in many places actual costly solutions like gear drives and so this sensor can help to reduce total cost of systems. Applications can be found in many areas like printing machines, drive and steering systems, wire length sensors, gate and door drives, in mobile applications such as lifts, in paper industry, in robotics and in common as a replacement for wirewound potentiometers or encoders. Electrical connections are made via conductors which are sealed into the housing. They are suitable for use with any of the termination methods currently in use. The use of elastomer-damped precious metal multi-finger wiper ensures reliable contact even under the severest of working conditions. Therefore, a magnet is attached to the rotating shaft. The magnetic field orientation is captured with an integrated circuit. An analogue output signal represents the calculated angle. The wide operating votlage range permits upply from an unstablised DC source. The housing is in compliance with protection class IP 65 with the conformable plug and is particularly suited to stringent require-ments in the machine, plant and vehicle design sector. The precision ball bearing is designed to withstand high mechanical strains. In order to ensure the EMV, the cable shielding must be connected with the housing via the plug. The shielding connection can take place galvanic or by a coupling capacitor towards ground. 45 Industrial-Grade Potentiometers Series AW360 ZE Special features gap-free output over all 360 very high absolute linearity interchangeable without electrical adjustment guaranteed 12 bit resolution and repeatability long life - 50 x 10 6 movements protection class IP 65 This potentiometer has been designed for use as an absolute 360 angle encoder. Apart from direct analogue use, it can be used in conjunction with an external A/D converter. In this case, the unit operates as an angle transducer with 12 bit resolution and offering 10 or 11 bit absolute accuracy. The transducer only requires 6 connections, and these are made via a 6 pole, waterproof plug and socket. Contrary to the limitations encountered with other potentiometers, which have a dead band of some degrees which cannot be used, due to its two wipers and its hybrid circuit the AW 360 ZE can be used over all 360 of rotation. The reset voltages at the beginning and end of the sawtooth are well defined, and there is no function angle tolerance as is normally associated with potentiometers. These features together with the fact that the maximum output voltage is determined by the applied voltage means that units may be inter-changed or replaced without the need to electrical adjust or trim. When turning the axle in cw (view on shaft end) the signal increases. Other output signals on request.
