9 A real important solution Development of new telecommunication systems + intensification electrical transmission network Increase interest towards the electromagnetic fields Doubts and concerns about the dangers of electromagnetic fields A real important solution is the monitoring activity

10 Dual effect The monitoring of the sources of electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields has the dual effect: verify compliance with the limits of the law; Instrument of information and therefore of reduction of an unwarranted panic.

11 Rule of ARPA The regions, according to general policy law n. 36/2001, have the task of defining the powers of the Provinces and Municipalities, which are assigned the tasks of control and health and environmental supervision, using for this purpose the structures of regional agencies for environmental protection (ARPA) The regional agencies have been involved in monitoring sources of electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields.

13 Monitoring Stations Monitoring stations are control units that allow the continuous and remote monitoring of the levels of electromagnetic field in the point where they are placed; The monitoring stations get in real time qualitative informations about the progress of the electromagnetic field in the point where they are placed; The technical reference rule is the CEI 211-7/A.

17 APAT: Observatory NIR (No Ionizing radiation) The activity of control and monitoring of ARPA is one of the informations that APAT manages through the database "Observatory NIR". In fact, the main objective of this collection of data relating to all the Italian Regions, started in 1999, is to collect informations about: Pressure sources (Radio base stations, broadcasting systems and electroducts); Checks carried out by ARPA, overruns found and the relatives rehabilitation actions; Regional rules in force.

18 APAT: Observatory NIR (No Ionizing radiation) APAT has provided for the creation of an area of public access through which the public can acquire informations obtained from the data of the Observatory NIR.
