With Meg-Alert protection installed, failure is not an option. By continuously testing and monitoring your equipment, while it is not running, Meg-Alert can help insure that it will operate correctly on every start-up. Why do motors or generators fail on start-up? Exposure to high levels of start or loading inrush current causes poor winding insulation to fail. Moisture, contamination and thermal breakdown are key factors in winding insulation failure. Meg-Alert automatically tests the winding insulation at rated voltage continuously until start-up and will provide an early warning when equipment is unsafe to operate. Meg-Alert safely tests your equipment at rated voltage to determine the true condition of winding insulation. Meg-Alert has an adjustable set point that can be used to signal an alarm and/or lockout the equipment from operation to prevent failure. 5 HOW TO ORDER Select a model for testing AC or DC motors. Select a model test voltage closest to your motor operating voltage. Motor horsepower is NOT a factor. Select a meter output (1% or 2%) or a go/no go flashing LED output. Select a single alarm output or an additional pre-alarm output. On low voltage motors only select a single motor unit or a multiple motor unit. If multiple choose model closest to the number of motors to be tested. Select an optional 4-20 ma transducer or a RS232 R.A.C. unit for automatic data trending. Select the input voltage (AC/DC) and control signal available at your motor control panel. 7 HOW TO ORDER Select a model for testing AC or DC generators. Select a model test voltage closest to the generator operating voltage. Generator kilowatt is NOT a factor. Determine if the generator has a grounded neutral lead. If so, select a Meg-Alert model with a ground interrupter rating capable of handling neutral fault current level. One ground interrupter is required per generator. Select a meter output of 1% or 2% accuracy. Select an optional pre-alarm output. On low voltage generators (only) select a single generator unit or a multiple generator unit. If multiple choose model closest to number of generators to be tested. Select an optional 4-20 ma transducer or RS232 R.A.C. unit for automatic data trending. Select input voltage (AC/DC) and control voltage available at your generator switchboard.
