3 Design: dcatt engineers have developed REDCATT branded transducers utilizing either neodymium or ferrite based magnetic circuits, capable of delivering the highest level of performance, providing a consistent, high integrity magnetic flux gaps, ultra low distortion characteristics and high efficiency cooling designs. The magnetic circuit designs are optimized to generate the minimum amount of flux modulation, providing exceptional stability. REDCATT engineers use many modern Finite Element Analysis and Modeling software tools to optimize the design. The combination of computer aided technologies and years of design experience in the field of audio products ensures our designs are achieving and exceeding the set goals. We have implement the latest 3D printing equipment technologies to speed up our development time and shorten the sample delivery times to our customers. In many cases we are able to validate the fresh designs within hours after they have been modeled in our computers. Components: REDCATT transducers always aim to use the best available components, and the best available technology to manufacture them. Our latest investments into the state of the art CNC machining technologies is helping us to achieve our quality goals without compromises. ADHESIVES REDCATT uses the state of the art adhesives in all assembly steps. REDCATT unique, precise adhesives dispensing and curing, combined with six-sigma quality monitoring and extra care in storing and handling all adhesives, further improves the product consistency and reliability. We pay lot of attention to the details when it comes to adhesives. Our development and manufacturing processes were designed to fully support our vision for how the modern transducers should be built. liability testing It is our mission to design and produce transducers that are not only the best performing and consistent drivers around, but we also pay great attention to the reliability testing and longevity of our transducers. Our reliability testing lab is well equipped to take the tested transducer to the limits in a controlled and repeatable way. We can set the weather environment from - to 1 C with added humidity up to 99% RH. UV-A and UV-B tests are also part of our reliability test cycles to accelerate the aging of the parts. Implemented Klippel power testing equipment ensures the driver is tested using the standardized AES power test procedures, while all important parameters are monitored trough the test cycle. VOICE COILS Our in house wounded voice coils using inside/outside winding, aluminum or copper ribbon wires. The extensive usage of Polyimide former materials, specialty winding adhesives and high temperature wires allow us to push the power handling of the transducers to the new heights while the voice coils are capable to handle temperatures exceeding 3 C, beyond thermal requirement of modern audio systems. We pay great attention to all related and necessary reliability testings of our voice coils. SPIDERS In many our woofer designs, REDCATT double or triple silicone sealed spiders functioning as an air pump expelling the hot air and drawing-in cool air every time the cone assembly moves. Combined spider air-pump with highly efficient air flow magnetic structure designs greatly reduces power compression. CONES The cones one and the dust cap are mostly made using an advanced REDCATT pulps with carbon or glass fiber reinforcement. The cones are also extensively treated to withstand harsh environments and high humidity. Metal parts in the speaker assembly are coated for extreme weatherization protection. From the design, through the incoming quality inspections and final assembly. All steps and quality assurance processes were implemented with aim to provide our users with the best in class HF transducers. Components: DOMES A key component of the HF assembly is the compression driver or tweeter dome. We do form all HF domes in house with unbeatable level of consistency. At REDCATT we consider this step one and we have designed a unique dome forming process that incorporates PLC controlled forming techniques to ensure all aspects of the structure are precisely monitored. By using a programmable logic control (PLC) based system, we can incorporate excessively detailed process parameters including pre-heating and forming temperature controls that are within. C at each stage of forming. The control and timing of the individual forming steps are precisely established depending on the dome type and material used then stored and recalled from memory at the appropriate time. We have developed unique coating technology for compression driver domes. This unique process, was developed to greatly improve the power handling capabilities. Further details can be found on our web page plugs, CNC machined from the ground up. The level of precision on these phase plugs can be hardly matched by other manufactures. In other designs, plastic phase plugs are used. Specialty injection molding machinery and molding techniques were selected to maintain the required precision level. All parts are measured on advanced metrology equipment. Modern metrology equipment as 3D CMM, scanning lasers, profiling lasers or 2.D vision systems are deployed in our manufacturing process to control all tolerances with unprecedented precision. ADHESIVES REDCATT uses the state of the art adhesives in all assembly steps. We have developed unique dispensing techniques and adopted the best quality practices top ensure all dispensed adhesives have great level of consistency and precision. The majority of used adhesives are UV Cured Adhesives. UV based glues require a proper and well controlled curing process to ensure high, consistent bond strength. Our UV curing chambers are providing high output ultra violet light which is precisely projected and controlled. All assembled parts are cured under multi-directional UV lights and are rotated in the chambers to prevent shadowing. In Process Dome Quality Assurance Domes are randomly sampled after the forming process and taken for dimensional and physical parameter measurements. We have fully implemented precise laser based 3D scanning metrology equipment, capable of detecting even the smallest variation in the dome shape. We are fully capable of measuring dome shapes with a.2mm level of precision. VOICE COILS Majority of our compression drivers use edge wound aluminum wires. The extensive usage of Polyimide former materials, specialty adhesives and high temperature wires allow us to push the power handling of the HF transducers to the new heights, while the voice coils are capable to handle temperatures exceeding 3 C. In many designs, we use bent former assemblies to further increase the bonding force between the voice coil and the dome and improve the transient response of the HF unit. PHASE PLUGS It takes a significant amount of engineering to design a high frequency device but making thousands of consistent parts based on the original design is an order of magnitude more challenging. The level of precision required to maintain good level of consistency unit to unit, batch to batch, put lot of pressure on the overall precision of all used components for high frequency devices.
