Each channel is composed of a Gallium Arsenide infra-red emitting diode and a silicon phototransistor. The CH380 series are being used in environments encounted by space applications. It is manufactured to meet the JANS standard in conjunction with MIL-PRF procedures (please see next page for all other applicable specifications). Package styles for this device include 5 Pin Hybrid Package with surface mount, solder dip option available. These packages have a shield effect to cut off ambient light as they are designed for high density mounting applications. Therefore absolute maximum ratings, recommended operating conditions, electrical specifications and performance characteristics are identical for all units. Each channel, where appropriate. 2. Current Transfer ratio is defined as the ratio of output collector current, IO, to the forward LED input current, IF, times 100%. CTR is known to degrade slightly over the unit s lifetime as a function of input current, temperature, signal duty cycle and system on time. It is recommended that designers allow at least 20-25% guard band for CTR degradation. 3. Measured between pins 1 through 8 shorted together, and pins 9 through 16 shorted together. 4. Measured between each input pair shorted together, and the output pins for that channel shorted together. 5. Measured between pins 3 and 4 shorted together, and pins 7 and 8 shorted together. 6. CMH is the steepest slope (dv/dt) on the leading edge of the common mode pulse, VCM, for which the output will remain in the logic high state (i.e., VO > 2.0V). 7. CML is the steepest slope (dv/dt) on the trailing edge of the common mode pulse, VCM, for which the output will remain in the logic low state (i.e., VO < 0.8V). 8. Bandwidth is the frequency at which the AC output voltage is 3dB below the low frequency asymptote. 9. ISOCOM High Speed Optoisolators families using samples of CH380 Figure below displays the average normalized CTR (the post-irradiated value divided by the pre-irradiated value) for five samples of Isocom CH380 versus the neutron equivalence fluencies for each tested value of IF (1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 ma). Fig. 6. Values of [(CTRo/CTR) 1/3 1] for IF = 2 and 8 ma for CH380. A subset of the data in Fig. 6 (2 and 10 ma) are plotted in the format in Fig. 7 using a value of n that produces a best fit to a straight line with unit slope in a log-log plot.
