Channel ON Switch (Illuminated when ON) Whenactivated,routestheinputchannelssignaltothemasteroutputbywayoftheLeft=Right/Center Assignmentswitch.TheSoloPFLswitchandSignalPresent/PeakLEDwillremainactiveregardlessofthe positionofthisswitch. Pan Control ThiscontrolblendsthepostfadersignalbetweentheassignedL=Rbuspairs.Whenatthecenter,position, bothleftandrightmixbusesarefedequalamountsofsignal(eachdownby3db).thispancontrolhasno effectonthecentermixbus. 7

High-Pass Filter Control Adjuststhehigh=passfiltercornerfrequencybetween20Hzand200Hzatarolloffrateof12dBperoctave. Whenturnedfullycounterclockwise,thiscontrolisintheOFFpositionandhasnoeffectonthechannels signal.thiscontrolisusedtoremoveunwantedsignalcontentbelowthesetfrequency,suchasstagerumble. Theresultisusuallyimprovedsignalqualityoftheassociatedinputsignalwhiledecreasingtheamountoflow frequencyamplificationdemandoftheaudiosystemsamplifierandspeakercombination.thistypeoffilteris alsocalledalow=cutfilter.bestresultisobtainedwhensetfromjustabovefullyclockwisetothe12o'clock (controlpointerstraightup)position.cautionshouldbeusedwhenturnthiscontrolgreaterthanthe1o'clock positionastomuchlowfrequencycontentmayberemovedresultinginanunnaturalsound.movementof thiscontrolwillalsoaffectthe"knee"ofthelowfrequencycontrolsoitremainsusableregardlessofthe amountoflowfrequencycontentthatisremoved. 8

PROSPEC-2U6M2S Mono Input Channels (6) Rear Panel 48 -Volt Phantom Power Switch (Rear Panel) Whendepressed,activates48=VoltphantompowertotheXLRconnector.Phantompowerisrequiredfor operationofmostcondensermicrophones.seeyourmicrophoneinstructionstoseeifphantompoweris requiredoristobedefeated(some thoughfew=microphonesrequirephantompowernotbeactivatedor theymaybedamaged).someactivedirectboxescanalsousephantomforpower. XLR portion Combo Microphone Input Connector ThisconnectorsXLRportionisdesignedtoaccepttypicalmicrophoneinputsignals,andhasaninput impedanceof>3000ohms.thisisalockingconnector.toremoveanxlrcable,depressthetabonthe connectorbeforeattemptingtoremovethecableplugfromtheconsoleconnector.note:pluggingalinelevel signalintothesexlrconnectswillunusuallycausedistortionunlessthissignalisexternallydecreasedinlevel (orexternallypaddeddown).linelevelsignalsshouldbebroughtintothe1/4"trsportionofthiscombo connector. 1/4 TRS portion Combo Line Input Connector The1/4"TRSconnectorportionofthisconnectoracceptslineinputsignalsandhasaninputimpedanceof >10kohms.Thelineinputsourcemaybeabalancedorunbalancedsignal.Note:This1/4"TRSconnectoris notdesignedtoaccepthighimpedanceinstruments. 1/4 TRS Insert Connector Thisconnectorallowsexternalprocessingoreffectselectronicstobeinsertedintothechannel ssignalpath afterthefixedhighpassfilter.tip=send,ring=return,sleeve=ground.examplesofexternaldevicesinclude additionalequalization,notchfilters,compressors,limiters,vocaldoublersandharmonizers,reverbdevices, etc.theinsertsendhasanoutputimpedanceof100ohmsunbalancedandtheinsertreturnhasaninput impedanceof5kohmsunbalanced.operatinglevelis+4dbu. 9

Ifonlyasingle(mono)signalisavailable,pluggingintotheLeftTRSjackwillfeedthatsignalequallytoboth Left&Rightinputsofthechannel(throughtheRightTRSnormalingcontacts).PluggingintotheRightTRSjack willbreakthatnormalledconnectionandfeedthatnewsignalintotherightsideofthechannel. Stereo Line Input Pad Switch (Separate switches for Channel "A" and "B" 1/4" line inputs) TheseswitchesinsertaPadnetworkonthe1/4"TRSinputstoexpandtherangeofinputlevelsthesestereo channelscanacceptwithoutoverload.theyshouldbeactivated(pushedin)onlyifthechannelspeakled illuminatessteadilywhenthelevelcontrolisatorbelow11o clockposition.note:theseswitchesonlyaffect the1/4"trsinputconnectorsandhavenoeffectonthechannelsrcainputs. 14 USBDIGITALAUDIOINPUTANDOUTPUT StereoChannel"A"Digital TheProSpec=2U6M2SwillappearasaUSB=peripheraltoyourcomputer;thereisononboardcircuitry(CODEC) thatallows2=waystereocommunicationviausb.simultaneousrecordandplaybackofaudioispossibleusing commonlyavailablesoftware.note:codecisthetermforanencoder/decoder.asinglecodecchipisused intheprospec=2uforbi=directionalusbconversionandcommunication:burr=brownpcm2900.ausbb=type connectorisprovided.usbaudioin(fromthecomputer)willfeedthestereolineinputchannel"a"when selected(toppanelswitchlabeledusb). USBDigitalOutput(MixerOutput) TheUSBAudioOut(tothecomputer)isdrivenfromthepre=fadermasterlevelcontrolsignalofLeftandRight withthecentersignalsummedintoleft+rightasaphantomcenterout;sendingthataudiototheinputofthe CODEC. USBSetupandOperation WhenpluggedintotheUSBportofacomputer,theProDeskwillshowupasa USBAudioCODEC inboth WindowsandMacOSX.Usethe SystemPreferences=Sound (OSX)or ControlPanel=SoundsandAudio Devices (Windows)toselecttheProDeskasyourInputorOutputdeviceandtoadjustanysystem=controlled parameters(balance&volume).bydefault,theinternalcodecisbus=poweredbythecomputer susbport; theledwillilluminatewhenpowerisavailableforthecodecchip.theanalogelectronicssurroundingthe CODECchipismixer=poweredforbestperformanceandheadroom.TheCODECiscapableofstereo,16=bit operationat33,44,and48khzsamplerates.thecomputersetsallcodecparameters;therearenouser controlsontheconsoleitself.whenusedwithoutadditionalprogramsupport,thecodecdefaultstothe system=levelsettingsofthecomputeritself.whenusedwitharecordingoreditingprogram,thesamplerate, wordlengthandotherparametersofthecodecarecontrolledbythatprogram. Withjustthecomputer ssystem=levelcontrols,youwillbeabletoselect USBAudioCODEC fromthelistof audiodevicesastheoutputsourceforplaybackofrecordedsounds,songsandcuesfromthecomputer.anyof therecording/editingprogramsavailablecanusethe USBAudioCODEC astheinputsourcefordirect recordingsfromtheconsole(viathestereorecordoutsection).
