2 Hardware Description The AXRF is the industry s first fully integrated multi-port PXI RF subsystem. Users have traditionally been forced to choose between expensive high end integrated ATE or discrete bench instruments that require custom integration. The AXRF fills this gap as an integrated RF subsystem based on cost-effective, standards-based PXI modular instruments. High level software provides simple user commands that control all instrument modules in the subsystem. A comprehensive automated calibration program assures that the AXRF achieves and maintains its stated specifications over time and temperature. It is designed to be used as either a stand-alone test system or it can be integrated as an RF supplement to an existing test systems. The AXRF is based on production-proven, high-speed PXI modular instrumentation that provides industry-leading test times and parallel test efficiency for multi-site applications. Each RF test port is capable of performing the following measurement types: CW or vector modulated carrier sourcing Two tone sourcing (optional) Noise sourcing RF spectral measurement RF power measurement S-parameter measurement Return loss and VSWR measurement Generic and Standards based vector signal measurement Noise figure measurement Phase noise measurement Measurement Controller Options AXRF is offered with a variety of system control options. The system controller can be external or internal to the PXI chassis. Internal system controller has high speed quad core CPU. External control supports interfacing to an existing customer supplied PC or a PC accessory from Cobham. Where the controlling PC is supplied by Cobham it is fully configured with all software. PXI Source and Measure Instruments AXRF is configurable with either 1 or 2 Vector Signal Generator Instruments and a choice of RF Digitizer measurement modules supporting wide bandwidth modulation, low phase noise and fast settling times. Optional Radio Standards AXRF is offered with a variety of optional analysis packages for different radio communication standards. These provide measurement libraries with standard compliant signal analysis functions. Details of these measurement options are listed in the how to order section. AXRF AutoCal Unit The AXRF AutoCal Unit provides portable hardware and fully automated software for RF power level, S-parameters and noise source calibration of the AXRF sub-system. It supports the calibration of up to 8 RF ports. The AXRF AutoCal Unit contains all of the references and switching to completely calibrate the AXRF sub-system at the touch of a button. Calibration factors are stored on disk and utilized by the AXRF sub-system high level driver software to assure programmed and measured values meet all specifications.

3 SPECIFICATIONS All specifications are defined following system warm up time of 30 mins and at an ambient temperature of +23 +/- 5 degrees C and within 90 days of a user runtime calibration using AXRF AutoCal accessory unit (AXRF-ACAL-8).
