Modernizaion of CRDM iniial design I s ' sage of up-grading of he iniial design is performed in co-operaion wih he Experimenal Drawing Office,,GIDROPRESS", Russian Federaion EDO,,GIDROPRESS" echnical ask conained o keep he plunger gnpper lach sysem and opimize is geomery o mainain he mehod of pressure housing sealing and all connecable CRDM dimensions o opimize magne circuis o increase of drive lifing force o reduce he mass of CRDM movable pars o design a new posiion indicaor wihou machanical connecion wih he CRDM rod Main resuls of up-grading besides his indicaed are as follows : he magneic sainless seel of SUPERFERIT ype is used for poles and armaures and geomery of magne circuis has been opimized (compensaion of lower magneic properies of sainless seel, higer drive force - see Fig. 1, lower curren - see Fig. 2,) he opimizaion of gripper lach and bushing geomery and new design of main pars of Block of Lifing (o increase of service life o 2,1 x 10 6 seps) new design and new maerials of elecromagnes coils (increase of service life, higher corrosin resisance in he course of LOCA ) reconsrucion of he locking device in he drawing shaf - cluser coupling ( precluding he disconnecion of drive shaf and cluser a he end of he scram ) research and developmen of new ype of posiion indicaor -286-

Resuled CRDM has he service life of 20 years Two CRDM ses of his ype for Temelin NPP have been already manufacured and delivered 2. Furher modernizaion of CRDM design Based on he experience KODA coninued in furher up-grading of CRDM design The main resuls of 2nd sage of up-grading are as follows : exenion of all CRDM pars service life o 30 years increase of elecromagne coils operaional emperaure o 300 C increase of scram velociy proving he abiliy o work wih a cluser of weigh 27 kg applicaion of expanded graphie sealing for posiion indicaor ogeher wih bols of new design 287-

4 Verificaion of he 2 nd sage of up-grading resuls by : verificaion calculaions of all new consrucion assemblies laboraory esing of CRDM elecrical equipmen (see Fig 5) life ess of speciemen For he verificaion of he 2 nd sage of up-grading SKODA CRDM resuls o operae wih a cluser of 27 kg weigh, he life ess have been made on KODA es sand according o he programme approved by he Ukrainian Regulaory Office, Ukrainian NPPs and by he Chief Designer of WER-1000 NPP which is EDO,,GK>ROPRESS" For CRDM esing and operaion a NPPs new equipmen has been made in SKODA. The new equipmen is as follows: HW and SW skech for CRDM mainenance ( see Fig 4) Equipmen for pressure housing vericaliy inspecion Equpmen for pressure housing hydraulc esing Equipmen for CRDM assembly and ranspor This ype of CRDMs has been operaed since Augus 1996 a Uni 1 of Souh-Ukrainian NPP Currenly, SKODA NM has been manufacuring hese CRDMs also for oher Ukrainian NPPs where hey are inended o be used for reconsrucion and upgrading
