This year the Florida Section IMSA is offering 3 whole days of Technical Training. May 31st & June 1st the Sessions will focus on the Signal and ITS side of the Industry and June 2nd will focus on Signs and Pavement Markings. Each day of Technical Training will provide the attendees with 8 hrs or 32 TARP points of training. These TARP point can be used for Renewal of your IMSA Certifications. 4 Signs & Markings Level 1 May 30th & 31st (8AM - 5 PM) This two-day seminar covers topics including: applications of regulatory signs, warning signs, guide signs, tourist oriented directional signs, markings and markers, traffic control in school areas, bicycle traffic control devices, safety and temporary traffic control, installation of signs and markings and emergency management signing. Other review material has been derived from the following publications: MUTCD, FHWA s Standard Highway Signs, FHWA s Standard Alphabets for Highway Signs and Pavement Markings, TRB s NCHRP Synthesis 157 Maintenance Management of Street and Highway Signs and ITE s Traffic Engineering Handbook. Challenge Exams Tuesday May 30th & Friday June 2nd 9AM Registration Desk Prerequisite: Wor k Zone Tempor ar y Tr affic Contr ol Technician and one year of traffic operations experience. Signs Technician Level II This two-day seminar builds upon the fundamental understanding the student gained during the Signs and Pavement Markings Level I program providing greater insight and a more nuanced understanding of sign design, installation and maintenance. This program is important for the signs technician to further his or her understanding of the criteria for the application of signs in accordance with the MUTCD and other references. Roadway Lighting Technician Level I This two-day seminar will address safety and qualifications, lamp and luminaire components, electrical, poles and high mast components, basic lighting design fundamentals, lighting applications, maintenance of lighting systems and testing and investigation and troubleshooting lighting systems. Prerequisite: Wor k Zone Tempor ar y Tr affic Contr ol Technician. Prerequisites: Wor k Zone Tempor ar y Tr affic Contr ol Technician, Signs and Pavement Markings Technician Level I, one year of traffic operations experience Signs and Marking Certification Renewal The Florida Section is offering two days of Technical Training to help you get the 16 hours needed to renew your Signs and Markings Certifications. On Thursday June 1st you will sit in on the new updated Signs Level II class. You will provided a manual to follow along and participate in this newly formatted class. On Friday June 2nd you will attend the day log Technical Sessions specifically designed for the Signs and Markings Industry. A general Registration and Level II Signs book is included in the price of this ticket. Traffic Signal Field Technician Level I This two-day seminar covers the basic concepts and terminology associated with signalized traffic control devices and systems and is designed for the entry-level technician who has had some prior training or experience in electrical technology. Topics covered include: principles of operation and the primary electrical details of cabinet wiring and components; equipment, methods and materials of signal system construction; the basics of traffic signal design, maintenance and legal issues. Prerequisite: Wor k Zone Tempor ar y Tr affic Contr ol Technician.

5 Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II Traffic Signal Field Technician Level III This two-day seminar focuses on maintenance and repair of signalized intersections. Topics covered include: traffic signal control system troubleshooting, on-site repairs, maintenance methods and equipment, worksite safety, maintenance of traffic, traffic signal system equipment standards and operation, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, equipment repair, replacement and programming, test equipment, signal phasing and timing, detection, system communications, preventive maintenance and documentation. This one-day seminar covers a wide range of topics relating to field expertise and general knowledge of the applied traffic signal technologies in the discipline. You must be familiar with NEMA Standards (TS1 & TS2), 170/2070 Standards, various traffic detection methods, setup and configuration manuals, video detection manufacturers setup manuals, lightning protection devices, FHWA and ITE vehicle detection manuals, data communications methods, MUTCD, signal head types specifications and installation methods, IMSA wire and cable specifications, ITE-Traffic Engineering Manual, ITE-Traffic Control Devices Handbook, traffic signal preemption devices, understanding of basic electronics and electrical and U.S. National Electrical Code and/or Canadian Electrical Code. Topics covered include: programming, application and maintenance of controllers, conflict monitors, vehicle and pedestrian detection systems, communication and power wiring of the cabinet, electronic circuit operation and fault diagnosis, the use of test equipment for diagnosis and certification of control cabinet equipment. Prerequisites: Wor k Zone Tempor ar y Tr affic Contr ol Technician, IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I, two years of experience in the traffic signal field. Class Prerequisites Instructions: Please read the Prerequisites carefully to make sure you qualify to take the coarse. 6 Room Rate Deadline May 9th Traffic Signal Inspector May 30th & 31st (8AM 5PM) Traffic signals are a key element in our transportation system and the proper operation of traffic signals is of paramount importance in maintaining reasonable levels of mobility. Knowledgeable traffic signal inspection is required to ensure proper/specified construction practices are followed during signal installation resulting in signals that operate as intended. This is a key element in limiting the liability exposure of governmental agencies associated with malfunctioning traffic signals. Topics covered in this two-day seminar include introduction to traffic signal inspection, inspection of underground facilities, inspection of traffic signal supports, inspection of overhead equipment, inspection of the controller assembly, safety requirements and final acceptance and turn-on. Prerequisite: Wor k Zone Tempor ar y Tr affic Contr ol Technician, IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I Traffic Inspection for Advanced Technology This two-day seminar is intended to certify inspectors who work with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment and is recommended for any traffic signal inspector who works with advanced technology found in modern transportation systems. Topics covered include: test equipment, signal functions and control, components, power systems, foundations, intersection wiring, detection systems and ITS devices and communications. Prerequisite: Wor k Zone Tempor ar y Tr affic Contr ol Technician, IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I and Traffic Signal Inspector Level I Advanced Maintenance of Traffic June 1st & 2nd CLASS TIMES (7:30AM 5PM) Personnel who successfully complete the Advanced MOT Training Course will receive FDOT recognized qualification, valid for four (4) years, to perform work zone traffic control planning, design, implementation, inspection and/or supervising the selection, placement or maintenance of traffic control schemes or devices in work zones on the State Highway System in accordance with the Florida Department of Transportation Specifications and Prerequisite: One year experience in work zone traffic control or responsible for work zone traffic control plan development is required.
