Nizam Group (Mahbub Ali Khan, Asif Jah VI, without Captain John Clerk). ca , Original photograph, albumen print, 13,2 x 9,4 cm. 500,00 Mahbub Ali Khan, Asif Jah VI. - His Highness, Muzaffar ul Mamalik, Nizam ul Mulk, Nizam ud-dowla, Nawab Mir Sir Mahbub Ali Khan Bahadur Fath Jang, Mahbub Ali Khan was born on August 17, He was the only son of Nawab Afzal-ud-Daula. When his father died he was two years and seven months old, and thus became the sixth (VI) Nizam of the Asif Jahi dynasty in 1869, aged only three. He was installed as Nizam by Sir Salar Jung I the Great, Nawab Rasheeduddin Khan, Shar-ul-Ummul and the Resident, who functioned as the Reyab. Shar-ul-Ummul died on December 12, 1881 and Salar Jung become the sole regent. - Special attention was paid to the education of Mahboob Ali Khan. With the concurrence of Salar Jung, Capt. John Clerk was appointed as his tutor. He was a respected and dignified personality and was popularly know as Mahboob Ali Pasha. He was retained as administrator and regent until his death on Tuesday, August 31, Mahbub Ali Khan was well known for enjoying luxuries, and had an enormous fascination for clothes. His collection of garments was one of the most extensive in the world at its time, with sherwanis, shirts, coats, collars, socks, shoes, headgear, walking sticks, perfumes - not one each, but dozens of almost each item. He bought the Jacob Diamond, which still remains in India.

Hyderabad, ca Original photograph, gelatine silver print, 21 x 28 cm. 220,00 - The metropolis was once surrounded by stone walls. A large portion of it was washed away in 1908 floods. The city, at first, had 13 gates. Now excepting for few like puranapul Darwaza and Dabeerpura Darwaza, the rest have vanished. - MUSI FLOODS OF 1908: On Tuesday 28th September 1908, Hyderabad witnessed disastrous floods in the Musi, which flows through the city. In one day, 17 inches of rainfall was recorded and the water level at Afzalgunj was about 11 feet high and in some other places it was even higher. 10 centers were set up for distribution of free food to the flood-hit people. A meeting was called by the Prime Minister in the public gardens and an appeal for donations was made for relief operations. Later in 1820 during the 3rd Nizam reign, floods of the Musi wrought havoc and hundreds of houses in the city were submerged.
