8 Operator Safety The BUG devices should only be used for BCF ultrasound scanning systems, and only when scanning animals. Please be aware of your own spatial environment to avoid colliding with unseen objects.

9 Operating Instructions Connecting to Scanner Screw the connector tight to ensure environmental proofing of the connection and cable. Then power the scanner on, the display will also power up. There are no electronic adjustments to be made. Display Positioning The position and alignment of the lens relative to the eye level is important. The displays are designed to be viewed from below, so the display module should be mounted above the horizontal eye line. This ensures maximum animal awareness whilst ensuring a clear view of the image by looking slightly upwards. If glasses are worn then please continue to use your glasses. The position will not be affected by glasses.

10 Display Adjustments The display module has three adjustments (1, 2) in Figure 2 and (3) in Figure 3 to ensure best positioning for optical alignment and for best comfort. Additionally (4) in Figure 4 demonstrates that the complete headband can be angled on your head to achieve closer viewing in combination with adjustment (3) Figure 2 The closer the device is mounted to your eyes the more tolerance there is for optical alignment. To ensure the device is as close as possible it is best to mount headband (4) at an angle and then use the adjustment (1) to align for suitable eye sight, as example in Figure 4. 11 Care Instructions We have built this BUG display headset to be rugged and water resistant, however, it is based on fragile, sensitive electronics and optics. With a little care and maintenance you will get many years of excellent imaging. CARE The BUG headset will be damaged if you: Drop it Hose it down Wipe the lenses with your thumb For a long and happy BUG's life: Treat the lenses as you would your valued specs\sunglasses! Clean immediately after use - before any splat dries solid. Disconnect from scanner. Grit\mud should first be removed by rinsing gently - do not rub the lenses. Dry excess water off the housing with clean soft cloth - do not rub the lenses. Only wipe the lenses with spectacle cleaner fluid and clean cloth or computer screen wipe - allow to evaporate. Secure in protective carry case once clean and dry

12 BUG Facts Maintenance To maintain the light weight, and achieve the desired optical properties, we have to use plastic lenses. Care is required to clean them without scratching. They can be replaced (a job for your nearest BCF service centre) but they are not cheap! The headset housing is water resistant to withstand use in the rain and gentle rinsing. They will not withstand powerful water jets i.e. tap full on, hose down or immersion. The scanner connector plug is sealed when secured to the scanner, but is vulnerable when disconnected. Do not rinse or submerge the plug. Maintenance Replacement forehead pads are available in two different thicknesses. Peel the old pad from the 'velcro' on the inner headband and reattach a new one with the absorbent cotton side towards the skin. The BUG is sealed at factory. Do not try to take them apart unless you have been fully trained. The nature of OLED displays leads to a gradual reduction in effective brightness over the years. You should advice return of headset to your BCF service agent for an annual check, replace seals, elastics, and adjust drive circuits for continued high performance.
