Rotate Image Crop 5x7/8x10/Square hidden using Customize Keys under the Registration/About icon. This will rotate your image clockwise. Shift - This will rotate your image counterclockwise. A 5x7 crop marquee will be visible on your image. You can move and modify the crop using the crop handles. If you want to switch from vertical to horizontal, hit the ESC key. If you hit the ESC key a second time, the crop will be cancelled. Apply the crop using the ENTER key. Cropping will not interpolate or resample your image. Cropping should be done before creating the retouching layer or after the image retouching is completed. If you are using TimeExposure's ProSelect Production module for image processing, don't crop or change the pixel dimensions in Photoshop. ProSelect's production module will crop for you. More info, Shift - Changes crop to 8x10 ratio. Open Raw From JPEG Create Retouching Layer Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) - Changes crop to square ratio. If you shoot simultaneous RAW and JPEG files, this will allow you to open the corresponding RAW file (same file number ID) residing in the same or adjacent directory. The JPEG file will automatically close and the RAW file converter will open. On the Windows platform you may need to set your RAW file type to associate with Adobe Photoshop under the Windows folder options. On the Mac your raw files must be set to open in Photoshop (they are by default). For each image you retouch clicking this key gets you started. When the key is activated, the image timer starts and will remain running until the file is saved using a palette save key. If you need to put the timer on hold, click the numbers display while holding the shift key. This duplicates your Background layer (or currently active editable layer) and names it "Retouching Layer". Most all of the corrective work you will do will take place on this layer. Many of the keys look for this layer to help insure the work is taking place on the correct layer. By working on the "Retouching Layer" you always have the original to fall back on if you make a mistake. Creation of this layer enables the use of the "Oops Brush". It will also allow you to see a before and after. If your layers palette is not showing on your screen, go to Window/Show Layers. The position of this layer is locked so that it can't be accidentally moved insuring that the Oops brush will work. To unlock, click the "Lock Position" icon on the layers Palette. Shift This will create a Retouching Layer, enable Oops Brush then, open the third-party Imagenomic "Portraiture" Photoshop Plug-in if you have this on your system. Once the Portraiture dialog is open, you can customize your settings. You can purchase the plug-in at the locations below. Enter the coupon code RNDS2007 to receive your discount at time of purchase. Mac Version: Levels Adjustment Layer Blemish Blaster PC Version: This will add a levels adjustment layer. An adjustment layer allows you to make color and density adjustments for all the layers below, without actually changing the integrity of the original file. If you are unhappy with the adjustments you have made, just start again. If you are unsure of making adjustments or are not working on a calibrated monitor, let your lab do the corrections. On the histogram, the left slider adjusts shadows, the right, highlights, and the center slider adjusts the overall density. For monitor calibration, we suggest X-Rite products at A small marquee will appear in the upper third of your image. Drag the marquee to a skin area that is free of blemishes and represents the skin texture you wish to reproduce. It s best to find an area where the lighting will be even throughout the sample area. After the correct area is selected, hit the enter key. A pattern will be generated for the healing brush to use for blemish removal. Working with a small brush to remove blemishes will yield the best results. Shift This will use the last pattern created for the brush. Select Patch Tool Skin Retouching Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) This will give you an Oops Brush to use to go over the areas that are too smooth from the blemish removal. This brush will restore the texture highlights only. Each time you lift your pen or click the mouse, more highlights will be restored. Use this to quickly remove "zits" or other small imperfections. Draw a selection tightly around the blemish to be removed, then drag the selection to an area containing the texture you desire. Do your "rough" work here then use the other tools to finish. This is an alternative to the Blemish Blaster. This is a bonus key for users of the third-party Photoshop plug-in "Portraiture" by Imagenomic. This plug-in must be purchased separately through Imagenomic, but we have arranged a discount for RNDS users. Enter the coupon code RNDS2007 to receive your discount at time of purchase. Mac Version: PC Version: Prior to using this key, we suggest using the Blemish Blaster or the Patch tool to remove large blemishes. When the key runs it will use the Portraiture plug-in to auto-apply skin smoothing and 3

blending to skin areas to diminish blemishes and facial lines. Double-clicking the key will run the plug-in minimizing blemishes and smoothing skin. If the smoothing effect is too heavy, simply paint over those areas using the brush provided immediately after the filter is run. Shift - Will apply a heavier blending for use with skin with more blemishes or aberrations. Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) Applies the same level of skin smoothing as the base key, but then applies softness to the skin. Ideal for women. Ctrl+Shift (PC) Cmd+Shift (MAC) Applies heavier blending combined with softening. Remove Blemishes and Eye Bags Following the use of any of these controls, additional blending may be required. Adjust your brush size with the [ or ] bracket keys. Sample, (hold the Alt (PC) or Option (MAC) key and click or drag) from a nearby area that has the same tones. When you retouch in the "Lighten" mode, only pixels darker than the sampled area will be affected. If you have a blemish that has redness with a white center, you would first use this tool to remove the red area, then switch to "Remove Shine and Highlights" tool to remove the white center. If you a find 40% opacity is not right for you, the keystroke 3 will set 30%, 8 will set 80% and so on. Remove Shine and Highlights Shift - A 20% opacity will be set. This uses the Clone Stamp tool. You will be working in the "Darken" mode at a 40% opacity. Adjust your brush size with the [ or ] bracket keys. Sample, (hold the Alt (PC) or Option (MAC) key and click or drag) from a nearby area that has the same tones. When you retouch in the "Darken" mode, only pixels lighter than the sampled area will be affected. You can use a large brush and sample from within your brush area to diminish specular highlights from blemishes. If you a find 40% opacity is not right for you, the keystroke 3 will set 30%, 8 will set 80% and so on. Remove Blemishes and Eye Bags (LT) Shift - A 20% opacity will be set. This uses the "Clone Stamp" tool. You will be working in the "Lighten" mode at a 20% opacity. If you a find 20% opacity is not right for you, the keystroke 3 will set 30%, 8 will set 80% and so on. Remove Shine and Highlights (LT) Shift - A 40% opacity will be set. This uses the Clone Stamp tool. You will be working in the "Darken" mode at a 20% opacity. If you a find 20% opacity is not right for you, the keystroke 3 will set 30%, 8 will set 80% and so on. Red Out Shift - A 40% opacity will be set. This creates a selective color adjustment layer to allow removal of redness from blemishes, sunburn or other skin aberrations. Using the brush, paint over the areas requiring redness removal. If you need to make a correction, hit the X key and paint to restore the original color. Shift Makes a global color correction removing red. Eye Lift Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) Merges Red Out layer into Retouching Layer Clicking this key will select the Lasso tool. Draw a kidney shaped selection through the corners of the lazy eye and midway through the eyelids. Clicking the key again, a dialog will appear. Click Zoom in to get a closer view of the eye. Click the Offset buttons to move the selection up or as needed to adjust the eye position. Adjust Edge Softness to eliminate edge lines. Click OK after adjustments are made. 4

Remove Second Catch Light Hold the Alt (PC) or Option (MAC) key and click to sample the color to be painted. If the catchlight to be removed is in the iris, paint from the outside towards the pupil. Next, sample the pupil and paint making sure the pupil remains round. You can paint with a lower opacity by hitting the 3 key for 30%, the 5 for 50% and so on. Be sure you are removing the reflection caused by the fill light and not the main light. Boost Eye Color If you sampled the pupil color and it was incorrect, most likely a "Levels Adjustment Layer" is in place. Turn off the visibility (eyeball icon) on that layer then resample the color. Turn visibility back on and paint. Adjust brush size to width of iris. Paint Brown color into iris area. Each time you lift your pen or click the mouse, more color is applied. Shift Green eyes Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) Blue eyes Define Iris Ctrl+Shift (PC) Cmd+Shift (MAC) Light Blue eyes Adjust brush size to size of the dark outline of iris. Gently paint to define the iris edge against the white of the eye. Enhance Eyelashes Brighten/Whiten Eyes* Whiten Teeth Color Shift Adjustment Tummy Tuck Shift Paints saturation into iris. Adjust brush diameter to width of eyelash. Paint from lid outward to add thickness to existing lashes or add additional lashes using the same technique. Softly paint the highlight areas, enhance the catch-light and subtly lighten the iris directly opposite the catch-light. Work slowly and gradually. The eyes must have shadows to define the roundness Shift If whites of eyes are yellowish or red, gently paint to whiten the eyes. Slowly paint the yellow areas to brighten and remove the yellowness. Each time you lift your pen or click the mouse, more color will be applied. This uses the paint brush tool in the color mode to remove discoloration, correct color tones or color shift shadow areas. Hold the Alt (PC) or Option (MAC) key and sample the desired tone. Gently paint over the areas you wish to change. Each time you lift your pen or click the mouse, more color will be applied. Click the key to activate the quick select tool. Select the area to be modified. Click the key again and the Liquify dialog will open. Select the Push Left tool (keystoke O) and set the following tool options: Brush Size: 100 Brush Density: 50 Brush Pressure:50 In smooth even strokes, brush along areas to be tucked. If the area expands rather than contracts, hold the Alt (PC) or Option (MAC) key. When done, click OK. Next, use the patch tool (already selected) to restore moved areas. Punch Painter Selective Darken/Lighten Selective Focus Camera Diffusion Shift Opens Liquify dialog without requiring selection. Use this tool to add selective color intensity to your image. It s best to completely paint the area or section to be saturated without lifting the pen or clicking the mouse again. If the area requires additional color, repeat the process. Brush opacity can be increased or decreased by using the number keys. You can do nondestructive "burning" with this tool. Paint the area to be darkened in smooth even strokes. If the area needs to be darker, repeat the process. If the highlights go gray, Use the Color Shift Adjustment key to add color. Shift will lighten or dodge. Use this to reduce depth-of-field or to smooth fabric backgrounds. In the "Lens Blur" dialog box, select a level of blur. Adjust the slider to slightly more softness then you want on the final image. Click "OK". After your image is processed, you will see no change. Using the brush, go over the background areas you wish to blur. As you paint, the softened background image will appear. Shift This will use a Gaussian Blur rather than a Lens Blur to create softness. This technique processes faster than the default function. You can also use this same technique to smooth wrinkled clothing or wrinkled backgrounds. This will add overall image diffusion to the file that is reminiscent of traditional film camera diffusion techniques. You can vary the softness by adjusting the opacity of the "diffused layer". A layer mask is created so you can paint sharpness back to the eyes, nostrils, lips and jewelry. If you are unhappy with your results, you can go back to a previously saved file version or select the "pre-camera diffusion" snapshot from your history palette. No previous history steps will be available. 5

High Fashion Glow This key will enhance the lighting effects in the highlight areas of your image. Three image adjustments are available in the dialog window. Moving the sliders will allow you to customize the effect to your personal taste. After moving a slider, a timer icon will appear indicating that the preview is updating. Wait for an update to complete before making another adjustment. The preview check box toggles the before and after effect. Skin Glow: Increases the brightness level of the highlights. When adjusting, be sure to maintain highlight detail. Glow Softening: This will soften or gently blend the highlights. Color Punch: Modifies the color intensity of the overall image. Checking the Save as My Default will save the current settings. The next time the key is clicked; the effect will process the image using the new default settings without opening the dialog box. Un-checking the Save as My Default will have the dialog open each time. Shift - Opens the dialog window allowing the user to change settings if defaults are set. Oops Brush Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) This applies the High Fashion effects, but adds the effect layers to the Image Effects layer group. You can selectively restore modified areas using this tool if you used the Create Retouching Layer key at the beginning of your retouching project. Painting through an area will lightly remove the image modifications. Brushing back over the area several times (lifting the pen or clicking the mouse each time) will restore the area to its original state. You will not be able to use this tool if you crop or change the file size after you create the retouching layer. If you need to restore areas after your image has been closed in Photoshop, the oops brush can still be used if an original file (un-retouched JPEG, TIFF or PSD or RAW with the same file name) is in the same directory as the current image file. Shift - Will allow you to restore to the image state after the Skin Retouching key is used. Low Key Vignette Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) - This paints at a 100% opacity to completely restore painted area in a single stroke. The image will be zoomed so as the full image will be shown on the screen. Use the large brush to paint density into the image. It s best to paint full smooth strokes covering the full area to be darkened. Lifting the pen or clicking the mouse will add additional density if you paint again. By default, you'll be painting with white on the mask. Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) This applies the toner effects, but adds the toner layers to the Image Effects layer group. BW/Sepia/Selective Color This flattens your file, converts to LAB color mode then drops the necessary channels to create a wide-range black and white image. It then converts it back to RGB mode. You may want to use levels or curves to make some adjustments to your personal preferences. Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) - This adds adjustment layers that allow users to control the color filtering response of a color to black and white image. Shift - This converts either color or black and white files to sepia tone images. By adjusting the hue slider, monotone color variations are possible. Fine Tuning Contrast Bump Brighten Highlights Darken Highlights Lighten Shadows Lighten Image Darken Image Create Composite Layer Sharpen for Printing Ctrl+Shift (PC) Cmd+Shift (MAC) - First, a black and white image conversion is made allowing user tonal adjustment. Next, layers are grouped and a layer mask is added. Paint black on the layer mask to reveal the color image below. White on the mask maintains the black and white image. Shift This creates the composite layer using only the layer selected and below. A Sharpened Layer will be created and your image will be set to view at 100%. This sharpening technique does not sharpen the upper highlights or the deep shadows where noise would reside. After running the key, you can visually adjust the amount of sharpening by changing the opacity of the sharpened layer. You can run this same key again if necessary after merging the sharpened layer. Flatten Add Image To ProSelect Ctrl (PC) Cmd (MAC) - Merges the sharpened layer with the Retouching Layer. This flattens all the layers in your file. This will add the current image to a ProSelect album. ProSelect must be running in the background with the desired album open. If the image is not saved, you will be prompted to save the image file. Flatten and Save JPEG Shift Automatically saves the document with the extension _v1, _v2, etc. then adds the image to the open ProSelect album. This flattens the file and saves it as a JPEG file at a quality compression of 10. It saves the file back to its original directory with the original file name. 7

Shift - Same, but allows you to change the directory path or name while the file. Flatten and Save TIFF Ctrl+Shift (PC) Cmd+Shift (MAC) - Saves the JPEG file to source directory, but adds file dimensions in inches to end of file name. EXAMPLE, IMG_1234 8X10.
