Exposure Modes! " S! " Shutter Priority - Shutter speed can be selected manually, the camera calculates the correct aperture based on the current metering mode! " Allows long or short exposures! 15! Exposure Modes! " M! " Manual - In manual mode you can select both shutter speed and aperture. " Center-Weighted (meters the entire frame but weights 80% to the central quarter)! " Spot AF Area (spot meters only in the selected AF Area - works for manually or automatically selected AF areas).! 29! Metering Modes!! Spot/Partial!! Center-weighted!! Multi-zone/Matrix!! Metering characteristic$! $! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! Use this mode: when there're big differences in brightness (e.g. between foreground and background) : when you need precise metering when you main subject covers a large portion of your image (e.g. with peripheral shadows)... for general subjects without larger shadowed or extreme bright areas. Action photography. 30! 15!
Spot Metering Don't meter to the brightest spot of the scene - this would lead to underexposed results. Try to find a place which has to be exposed right but always think of the limitation of the metering system. Even spot or partial metering cover a substantial area of the picture (up to 9.5%). E.g. the partial metering in the big picture (slot canyon) above points to a very bright spot but it surely contains some of the shadowed areas - in 31! this special case it leads to a correct result. Center weighted scenes 32! 16!
Typical scenes for Matrix or Multi-zone Metering 33! What should you meter on?! 34! 17!

Best Shot Selector! " Enables or disables Best-Shot Selection mode. In this mode the camera shoots continuously as long as the shutter release button is held down (for a maximum of 10 images) then selects the sharpest image and saves this to the CF card! 37! Image Adjustment! " Enables in-camera post-processing filters which adjust the brightness and contrast of the image after it's taken but before it's written to the CF card.! " Auto - Camera automatically chooses an image adjustment! " More / Less Contrast - adjust contrast! " Lighten / Darken Image - adjust brightness! 38! 19!
Saturation! " The ability to control the overall saturation of colors in the final image.! " Maximum - produces strong, saturated colors,! " Normal - standard colors!
