3 Our Brand Identity The Iluka brand identity represents the purpose and objectives of the Company. The name Iluka is derived from one of Australia s original mineral sands mining locations and is also Aboriginal for by the sea. The identity is composed of simplified elements that represent land and ocean. These symbols, in combination with the colours and logotype, create a brand image that portrays Iluka s professional approach and vision to be the pre-eminent global industrial minerals company. This corporate style guide outlines the correct application and use of the Iluka brand identity. To be effective, the principles should be applied to all external and internal communication. Please refer to this guide when producing material that bears the Company name and logo. corporate style guide page 1
4 The Elements SYMBOL The Iluka symbol is made up of two main stylised forms that sit inside a perfect circle to help create a sharp and clean shape. The blue form represents the shape of a wave. The water is part of the process in the evolution of mineral resources. The green colour represents the land and the stripes symbolise the rippled sand found at locations containing mineral sands. The use of negative space in combination with the colours, form a simple yet strong symbol that differentiates Iluka from its competitors and positions the company as a leader in its field. LOGOTYPE The Iluka logotype should be reproduced in Eurostile Bold Extended Two, in uppercase only. The careful selection of this logotype complements the Iluka symbol because of its strength, contemporary look and careful placement. The logotype becomes an important element in its own right and works in harmony with the symbol. Thus, creating a strong and memorable brand identity. corporate style guide page 2
5 The Elements A B C D E F G VERTICAL ALIGNMENT This is the official alignment of the identity and should never be changed. 6 Colours The colours for the Iluka identity are: Pantone 293 (blue) Pantone 347 (green) Black PMS 293 C 4 Colour Process (CMYK) PMS 347 C 4 Colour Process (CMYK) Black 4 Colour Process (CMYK) Paper stock and printing methods can affect the appearance of the printed colour so it is important to always visually match the printed sample to the printer s pms swatch (Pantone Matching System). Cyan Magenta - 57 Yellow - 0 Black - 2 Cyan Magenta - 0 Yellow - 86 Black - 3 Cyan - 0 Magenta - 0 Yellow - 0 Black On Screen (RGB) On Screen (RGB) On Screen (RGB) Red - 0 Green Blue Red - 0 Green Blue - 96 Red - 0 Green - 0 Blue - 0 COLOUR APPLICATIONS The full colour version of the identity can only be used on a white background or the specified PMS solid light coloured backgrounds that are in harmony with Iluka s colours. In instances where the background is multi-coloured, textured or photographic a reversed version of the logo must be used. 7 Colours COLOURED BACKGROUNDS The full colour identity should not be used on colour backgrounds. Its primary use is on a white background. If a circumstance requires it to be used on a solid colour background it must be used in a reversed out form in white. If a circumstance requires it to be used on a light coloured background where the colour is so light that the white reversed logo will not be visible, then the full colour logo should be used. light coloured background solid coloured background corporate style guide page 5
8 Colours SINGLE COLOUR APPLICATIONS In a single colour application the identity may only be represented in a solid PMS 293 (blue) or a PMS 347 (green) on a white or tinted background below 40% of the respective colour being used in the logo. In instances where the tinted background is above 40% the reversed version of the logo needs to be used as shown in the BLACK AND WHITE APPLICATIONS section. PMS 293 version gets used on white or tinted backgrounds below 40%. corporate style guide page 6
9 Colours BLACK AND WHITE APPLICATIONS In a black and white application the identity may only be represented in solid black on a white or light coloured background and white on a black or dark coloured background. used on white or light coloured backgrounds. 10 Typefaces INTERNALLY PRODUCED APPLICATIONS The typeface to be used in general internal communication and the website is ARIAL. It is available on all standard computers throughout the Company and should be used in all documents, presentations, correspondence and s. This typeface has been chosen for its clean lines. and the fact that it presents the company name Iluka in an immediately recognisable way. DO NOT ABBREVIATE. Under no circumstances is ILUKA RESOURCES LIMITED to be referred to as IRL. It is permissible to refer to the company as ILUKA. corporate style guide page 8
11 Typefaces EXTERNALLY PRODUCED APPLICATIONS Iluka should only use Bell Centennial Address for bodycopy in all stationery and communication material. Bell Gothic Black needs to be used to bold words or sentences. The rest of the Bell Gothic family can be used in combination with the above-mentioned fonts to create interest in other areas such as headings and titles.
