Cast Iron Analysis This dhs Image Data Base module analyzes the microstructure of cast iron. The graphite particles actual make-up is crucial for material properties such as elasticity and fracture behaviour. The fine structure is usually analyzed based on several national and international standards (including EN ISO 945 and ASTM-A247). Nodular cast iron analysis Grey cast iron analysis Ferrite/perlite analysis User interface for the Cast Iron Analysis module The main parameters are: graphite size, graphite form and graphite distribution. The module also ships with measurement parameters that have not been explicitly defined in the standard, but have become an integral part of the analysis process. They include: specimens and per unit of area) The module also comes with features such as image pre-processing, innovative form classifiers, automatic cropping of impinging spherulites, various interactive correction modes, automatic logging, and much more. The analysis software consists of three components: Once several images of the specimen have been generated and saved to the data base, and you have checked or configured certain basic settings (calibration, thresholds), you can measure the entire series of images at a keystroke talk about quick and easy! In addition to the Standard version described above, there is also an Advanced edition. It offers a tool for determining flake size distribution, and an innovative, adaptive distribution classifier with one-of-a-kind features!
Coating Thickness There are many cases where various layers or coatings in an image need to be analysed. These days this is carried out by innovative image analysis tools in order to increase user friendliness and precision. That s why we have developed the dhs Image Data Base extension module Coating Thickness. With this tool it is possible to automatically analyse up to 8 different layers and get all sorts of information, primarily dimensional. The detection and fixing of the individual layers using the threshold value is very simple, similar to the so-called Lasso functionality of the well known picture editing software Adobe Photoshop. This means the area to be analysed is automatically recognised, the user only needs to adjust the final fine details with a slide control if necessary finished! You also have many influence options and analysis variants with regard to analysis parameters, here some examples: measuring lines in the image? distances between the measuring lines? free choosen angle instead of vertically (if the layers to be measured run through the image diagonal)? lines necessary, e.g. length or angle? which the layer measurements are made visible) be changed and adjusted to suit the background? Just arrange the settings accordingly! And if occasionally this automatic function does not work perfectly because of difficult contrast conditions in the image material, the layer contours can also be plotted with the mouse. This means that in the future there will be no more cases that cannot be analysed! As usual with dhs, the mode of operation of analysing an image is very simple to handle. To analyse a sample (as shown in the example on the right hand) you only need a few clicks and not more than a minute. Name the individual layers as you choose and then detect all layers by clicking them with the mouse. The automatically determined results are shown in the table: The resultant image and the measured data can be saved and stored in the film strip of your image database if required. Or you can use the integrated automatic MS Excel report function. Up to 8 layers can be automatically analysed in an image The front end is aligned to the existing dhs image analysis modules, so you will find a uniform look & feel and can start working immediately simply intuitively! You can also save all your settings in this module in so-called profiles, preferred parameters can thus be retrieved immediately and without time consuming additional tweaking.
dhs-cleanalyzer Manufacturers are increasingly requiring component cleanliness verifications. After all, today s products have to meet high functionality, quality and durability standards. So not only do they need to be cleaned efficiently and environmentally responsibly, but their cleanliness must be evaluated reliably and reproducibly. That means component manufacturers and buyers have to analyze and document residual dirt more and more often. To meet this need, they can count on dhs s complete analysis system: the dhs-cleanalyzer. This is a powerful system for analyzing and documenting filters (used to collect particles after cleaning). Being extremely versatile, it can handle a wide range of filter materials (paper, Teflon, polyester mesh). This integration of hardware and software components provides you with a tool that, depending on the version, can ergonomically optimize and accelerate every step in the analysis process right up to full automation! We offer the following models to meet your needs and budget: dhs-cleanalyzer dhs-cleanalyzer dhs-cleanalyzer All the devices in this product family are standard-compliant ( as well as plant or customer standards), offer outstanding user comfort and feature high-precision components for maximum measurement accuracy and reproducibility. Not only that, but the model is the only product in its class to offer one particularly exciting advantage: It combines binocular-based stereo 3D viewing with the measurement accuracy of a high-resolution light microscope! And thanks to the innovative LED lighting technologies (combined with polarizing filters), software-based image optimization algorithms and automatic analysis processes, you can work very ergonomically in all your day-to-day activities. 5 Grain Size Metallographic image analysis often involves quantitatively analysing specimens and images in order to characterise grain size. This dhs Image Data Base extension module was developed to support real-life workflows, and is an easyto-use tool for your day-to-day laboratory work. Workflows are structured into clear steps that guide users through each phase of preprocessing and analysing images. The software can be configured in many different ways so you can analyse a wide variety of image material. Interactive correction modes even allow you to characterise difficult specimens. All your parameters can be stored in profiles so you can run through all the analyses versions you want at a click of a mouse for total reproducibility. Plus, the module already ships preconfigured with common settings, such as single or multi-phase materials and colour etching. After preparing the samples and taking the micrograph, the image can be calibrated and stored in the dhs Image Data Base. The software then automatically analyses the image and detects grain boundaries using greyscale characterisation and the watershed algorithm. To obtain meaningful results, you can analyse several micrographs (or even several sections of a specimen) in a row. The results are collected and shown in a fully customisable chart. You decide which values to visualise EN ISO or ASTM grain size numbers, measuring area, number of sections, line length and much more. Grain Size analysis using the so-called line intercept method The dhs Grain Size module offers the following features: Fully configurable software interface Import / export images in various formats and from and to the dhs Image Data Base Characterise grain size in single-phase ferrite and dual-phase ferrite/pearlite structures in accordance with EN ISO 643 and ASTM-E 112 Powerful image pre-processing algorithms Analysis using the line intercept method Also suitable for characterising grain size in any other structures Determining grain size numbers in accordance with the relevant standards, number of grains per unit area and average grain size. Analyse difficult structures in the interactive correction mode Automatical transfer of images, histograms and measured values to the dhs Image Data Base Multi-level undo feature Various display of images: Digital zoom, thumbnail and gallery overview Store profiles (parameter settings for fast access and activation in day-to-day use) Chord length is charted in a diagram and automatically classified by size.
Particle Analysis Yet another building block in the dhs Image Data Base is its Particle Analysis module. This tool automatically analyzes all types of particles as well as pores, phases, structural constituents, granulates and other bulk materials. As soon as the module is started, the sample image is automatically binarized, using the existing calibration (the original image is kept in the background for comparison). There are a host of ways to customize the analysis parameters for your own individual applications. The module comes with the following key features: Real time visualization Display results right after measurements Separate and delete particles automatically and interactively Analyze images individually and in series Fully customize the classification and colour-coding Generate diagrams automatically Fully customize the window arrangement Seamless integration with the dhs Image Data Base, including reporting (importing all final images and data, etc.) Wide selection of measurement values (Area, Circumference, min./max. Feret, Euler, Shape factor, Fibre length and thickness, etc.) Microsoft Excel interface To make your work easier, all software settings can be stored in user profiles that you can access and activate at a keystroke! It takes only a second to switch from one analysis mode to another. Overview of dhs Particle Analysis including results table and chart The familiar, user-friendly dhs user interface offers controls for selecting greyscale thresholds based on histograms or other data. Once this setting is made, you can optimize the image using various algorithms not to mention all the parameters for generating custom preclassifiers (filters). The region of interest (ROI) is fully customizable. To use this pre-processing, the software can be perfectly and quickly tailored to your individual preferences, needs and working conditions. Comes with many different pre-classifiers and analysis parameters Once your analyses are complete, you can upload the final images and associated data to the dhs Image Data Base. Here, not only are they permanently archived, but they can also be retrieved for further processing (reports, etc.).
Area Detection The Area Detection expansion module uses grey-scale detection (phase analysis) to automatically calculate and process area ratios. After preparing your sample and capturing the micrograph, you can launch the metallographic analysis from the convenient dhs Image Data Base plug-in interface. The original image colours are first converted to grey-scale values. Next, you import all the analysis values to a clearly structured table, where they are displayed on-screen in real time. You can evaluate up to 6 phases simultaneously. Additional features: Frame function to freely define the analysis area (ROI) for each layer. Various zooming techniques to optimise analysis (including mouse scroll wheel). Edge correction for every edge in the image or frame. Correction factor to eliminate unwanted image fragments through erosion/dilatation. All these settings can be stored in easy-to-access profiles just another example of dhs userfriendly Look & Feel. One keystroke, and the phase table and colourised image are exported to Microsoft Excel (if installed) and a bar diagram is automatically created. Multi phase analysis with grey-scale detection You begin by assigning a label and colour layer to each phase. Then, you enter numeric values or adjust the sliders to define the upper and lower grey-scale limits of each material phase. The phase table (left) and a sample Microsoft Excel report The module immediately displays the individual results in the table: an area ratio and for measurement calibrations the nominal value in the specified unit of measurement (such as μm 2 ). The individual phases and their distribution are visualised on-screen in the specified layer colours so that you can immediately assess the analysed sample.
