9 ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS FULL COLOUR SIZE & BLEED: Refer Paper Sizes for correct size. Keep text & images at least 3mm away from edges. Artwork can be supplied to image size or a smaller percentage of that size with crop marks only. Avoid using borders to create an even margin around the document. We have a trimming tolerance of +/-1mm therefore borders may not look even. Calibration bars and targets are not required. Digital & Offset: 3mm bleed. Screen printed posters & Coreflute: No bleed. Screen printed stickers: 3mm bleed. Wide Format Digital: 1mm bleed, crop marks only. IMAGES: All bitmap (raster) images should be full size at 300dpi. We can print images at lower resolutions but cannot be responsible if results are pixilated. Any file taken from a web page is unsuitable for printing. Include all linked image files or make sure they are embedded. COLOURS: All colour is printed in CMYK (including Digital). All RGB images have to be converted to CMYK before printing and colour corrections may occur. In particular, bright blues, greens, pinks and 021 orange will go dull. FONTS: Convert fonts to outlines or include font files. We do not recommend using type in Photoshop or similar bitmap based programs, the edges will appear saw tooth when printed. For a clean looking job we suggest you use live or outlined vector based fonts. FILES: Save as PDF with the fonts converted to outlines. Flatten all layers and transparencies. If you do not, elements on the page could be missing. Do NOT lock or hide any part of the file. We can accept most graphic program files if you cannot save to PDF. Please do not send Word or Publisher files, they must be converted to PDF to retain font information. SENDING: Most files can be ed. SPOT COLOUR SIZE & BLEED: Refer Paper Sizes for correct size. All spot colour posters are printed with a 15mm grip margin (white border) unless otherwise requested. Coreflute signs must have a 12.5mm grip. Because we need a clear margin, Please do not include trim marks, targets or colour bars. Artwork can be supplied to image size or a smaller percentage of that size. Spot colour Offset: No bleed. Screen printed posters & Coreflute: No bleed. Screen printed stickers: 3mm bleed. IMAGES: Be aware that images with fine detail may be lost with screen printing. Any lines less than 1 point (.5mm) may not print. All bitmap (raster) images should be full size at 300dpi but 1dpi at full size is acceptable for larger screen printed jobs. Include all image files or make sure they are embedded. COLOURS: One, two or three spot colours are printed one colour at a time using ink manufacturers colours or Pantone mixes. What you see on a computer screen may be different to the finished job. (particularly fluorescent colours). If designing in colour, choose from the Pantone Coated Colour Swatch. Do not use sliders. RGB and CMYK colours can be difficult to separate into spot colours. There may be an extra charge if we have to convert your colour file to separate spots. Therefore, it is important to give us a named Pantone colour so we can match the correct ink. If your file has CMYK or RGB values only, then we cannot be responsible for colour mismatch. Screen printing inks are not translucent, you may get unexpected results if over laying. Fluorescent colours are chalky by nature and should not be used for dot screens (percentages of colour) Be careful of colour selection. Your colours must be uniform throughout the whole job. For example Process Black, Black and Black CV will print as three colours, not one. It is also essential to trap or underlay light colours at least 1mm under dark colours to compensate for misregistration when printing. With screen printed posters, we cannot guarantee perfect butt joins because of screen stretch and paper shrinkage. FONTS: Make sure fonts are at least 8 point if screen printing. This is important if you are using a light font against a solid dark background. Convert fonts to outlines or include font files. We do not recommend using type in Photoshop or similar bitmap based programs, the edges will appear saw tooth when printed.
