Redfin Photography Style Guide: Partner Agents
Welcome to Redfin! One of the last steps before going live on Redfin.com and taking new referrals is getting your photographs uploaded to the site. We kw that getting dressed up and jumping in front of the camera isn t everyone s idea of a good time, so we ve created this guide to make it as painless as possible. We really appreciate your support and look forward to working with you! To prepare for your photo shoot, please take a few moments to read through our Dos and Don ts. They ll keep you looking your best and help us maintain a consistent, professional look across the entire Redfin website. Any questions? Please contact partner-agents@redfin.com.
Let s Get Started We kw you ll deliver the best service in the industry. So we want you to look your best on our website! I already have photos. Are they o.k.? > please see Section 1. I need new photos. > please see Section 2. Tip #1 Try to choose colors that are t the same as your hair color! TABLE OF CONTENTS 1 Old Photos 2 New Photos Visual Guides
1. Will My Current Photos Work? We want to project a clean and professional image for all of our partner agents. In terms of style, think Banana Republic. When we follow a consistent photographic standard, it makes everyone on the Redfin site look better. In order to create this standard look, we ve outlined a few requirements for photo submissions. 1. Professional photos Must be taken professionally against a solid white backdrop using indoor studio lighting. Please, outdoor shots or patterned backgrounds. 2. High resolution Must be at least 800 x 600 pixels (the higher the resolution, the better) in PNG, GIF, or JPG format. We ve got some big ideas on how to make you pop out on the website. A higher resolution gives us more options. 3. No close-ups Photos should be waist-up, knees-up, or full-height. But don t stand *too* far from the camera, either. 4. Slim poses Try facing the camera straight-on with arm s crossed, or at a slight angle with one hand in pocket or on hips. Try a few and have fun. To keep the image professional and clean, please NO props or hand gestures. 6. No patterns, shiny or silky clothing When the image is resized these materials become distorted. 7. Keep it simple Please send the original image without drop shadows, touch-ups or other post-processing. 8.Keep it current Photo must have been taken in the last 5 years. We kw you were [skinnier, taller, prettier, funnier, smarter, and had more hair] back then, but when clients meet you in person, they shouldn t be surprised. 6. Side-by-side* If you work in a team, you can send in individual shots, which we can composite into a group shot. Or, you can send a single photo with both team members standing side-by-side. *Please avoid shots where one or both of you are seated or kneeling. 10. SMILE! It makes your profile so much more approachable. 5. You re the star You should be the only person in the photo unless you re including other team member...which does t include your dog or cat. Tip #2 If your photos meet all of these requirements, send them to us at: partner-agents@redfin.com If you re t sure, or if you have questions, send over what you have and we ll take a look. chunky sandals. Choose nice dress shoes or heels.
2. What If I Need New Photos? Expect to invest between $100-$200 dollars on high-quality photography. If you don t yet have professional photos that meet our guidelines, or you want bring a fresh look to your profile on Redfin, follow out 10-point plan and photographer s lighting guide. READ & PRINT OUT THESE INSTRUCTIONS, AND TAKE THE SHEET TO YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER 1. Professional photos Must be taken professionally against a solid white backdrop using indoor studio lighting. 2. High resolution Have your photographer send you high-res. copy of your photos in PNG or JPG format. 3. Full-height Have the photographer take your photos at full-height with a least a small gap between your head and the top of the frame and your feet and the bottom of the frame. 4. Slim poses Try facing the camera straight-on with arm s crossed, or at a slight angle with one hand in pocket or on hips. Try a few and have fun. To keep the image professional and clean, please NO props or hand gestures. 5. You re the star You should be the only person in the photo. 6. No patterns, shiny or silky clothing When the image is resized these materials become distorted. 7. Keep it simple Please send the original image without drop shadows, ztouch-ups or other post-processing. 8. Bring two different tops Especially if you re in a team. Or coordinate beforehand so you don t wear the same colors. 9. Review our style guide Stay away from light-colored clothes, black, casual jeans, and ill-fitting clothing, too much jewelry, sleeveless tops, open-toed shoes, and too much cleavage. Be professional but releaxed. 10. SMILE! It makes your profile so much more approachable. D LIGHTING & PLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHER A. Large box at camera left as key light exposed at least at f13 B. Diffused 12inch reflectors directly on background or bounced into foamcore. Vs Value of background should be as even as possible and t wrap or flare into subject. C. Small box at camera right, side light placed at shoulder and to the rear of subject. Should be an accent only. Soft t hard light with value only just above key light. D. White paper sweep lit as evenly as possible to clean white with flare or wrap. E. Milky white plexiglass for reflection and clean crisp outline. Place far eugh away from background to control flare. Use background light spill to eliminate edge of plex in image. SOLID WHITE BACKDROP B Camera should be waist level or just above with lens shorter than 70mm (35mm camera) B E C Specific values and exposures have been avoided here as they will vary by situation. Please color correct with macbeth card and shoot in Adobe RGB color space. Also please provide an image including color card with delivery. A In some cases we can recommend a photographer. partner-agents@redfin.com if you need some help.
3.1 A VISUAL GUIDE Please Do Smiling & studio lighting makes you look modern & confident Submit 3/4 length and full length photos of yourself in a variety of poses Tip #3 Good rule of thumb is to wear pieces that will t overwhelm you.
3.2. A VISUAL GUIDE Please Don t Tip #4 Let your local style shine, but resist the urge to be overly trendy! Cropped too close to head & hair. Tip: Provide eugh spacing around head for adjustments. No landscapes, colored or patterned backgrounds. Tip: Studio lighting only. We kw you love your kids, but you kw more about real estate than they do. Hair, clothing and background are the same color. Tip: Choose clothing that contrasts with your hair. No pets or objects
