2 ABOUT THE ART OF GIVING Benefitting those in need in our communities, The Art of Giving will be an exclusive fundraiser on October 19 at Newmarket s Old Town Hall in downtown Newmarket, and will feature donated fine art and photography from approximately 25 Canadian artists and photographers. More than 150 tickets will be made available for local municipal and community leaders who will be invited to the semi-formal soiree, which will feature live music, a cocktail hour and live art auction. We are calling on fine artists and photographers to generously donate up to three pieces of work. In return, artists, photographers and their works will be profiled at the event and will be formally recognized by the evening s emcee. They will also be provided with free tickets to the event. The donated work will be on display during the cocktail hour in the Gallery at the Old Town Hall, and guests will have the opportunity to view the works upclose and speak with the artists and photographers before the live auction starts at 7 p.m. Supporting people in our communities Funds raised through The Art of Giving event and live art auction will go to the York Region and York Regional Police 2017 employee campaign in support of United Way Toronto & York Region. Over the past 23 years and through these annual campaigns, employees from both organizations have raised more than $4.3 million in support of United Way. These funds are helping to create the opportunities people need to improve their lives and build a better future in our communities. If you are an artist or photographer and would like to donate works to be featured at The Art of Giving event and live art auction, please read the below key dates and submission guidelines carefully prior to submitting your application. 3 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Please consider the following guidelines prior to submitting your application. The Art of Giving organizers will consider all genres of original fine art and photography. Works must be appropriately prepared for immediate hanging. Up to three pieces of artwork may be submitted. All artists and photographers or their representative(s) are invited to be in attendance for the duration of the event (6 to 9 p.m.) free of charge. Artists, photographers and their selected works will be profiled in a variety of promotional materials leading up to and on the day of the event. Note: The organizers of The Art of Giving reserve the right to disqualify works that may be perceived as graphic, violent, obscene or offensive. While all Canadian artists and photographers are eligible to submit, preference will be given to York Region artists and photographers. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION Please submit your application by completing the attached form and ing it along with three digital images of each of the works you would bring to the auction to unitedwaycampaign@york.ca no later than September 22, If you prefer to create a new piece for this event, please describe in application and provide samples via imagery (or conceptual illustration). All artists and photographers will be advised on September 29, 2017 if their work is selected for the auction. 6 Statement of understanding I understand that failure to fully complete this form and adhere to all of its instructions may result in disqualification of my submission. I am aware that there is no guarantee my work will be selected for The Art of Giving event and submission does not guarantee selection. If my work is selected, I grant The Regional Municipality of York permission to display my work at the Newmarket Old Town Hall in The Art of Giving event on October 19, 2017, to publish the image in any form of media (including print and online) and the information I have provided in this Call for Artists document, and to use any and all of these images and information to promote The Art of Giving.
